SDC Memories/ Park History / The oldest thing you have..
« on: May 16, 2010, 07:56:04 AM »
that you personaly bought from SDC, is....

I gave my 24 yr old daughter the copper ring i had made in her name back in Sept. of 1987, when she turned 21. She still wears it as a necklace. I dont believe they make'm out'a real copper anymore, correct me if i'm wrong. I still have my metal ol'time photo from that trip too, & other regular photos with my ma & pa.
My fiance' has a cave group photo from June 21, 1976.
But the kicker is, my parents have a ol' suveigner book "thingy" from when they went to SDC for their honeymoon back in 1963 or 64. I will check with them & get back with ya all.

I'm just new to this site & am tryin' to catch up with ya all. I have read most of the old posts-topics & really enjoy reading ALL the stories & seeing all the pictures. This is my new #1 site, Thanks Everyone!! ;D

We decided on our username by some of the employees at the park always saying "Howdy", or, "How do Folks?" We say it all the time now no matter where we're at. ;D

Pictuers, hmmm....
For one, i dont mind any of it. Snap away cuz i sure do, some of best pics is when i used to use them throw away camers. I used 800 speed film & got killer shots on some'a the coasters. I got 1 shot on Wildfire perfectly upside down, it looks cool! Now we got a lil' video camera that takes pics also.
Dont feel guilty about takin' pictures, but if ya realize ya'r are gettin' funny looks, then i would ask.

We eat breakfast at the park if we have people with us, but if we are by ourselves, we eat before we get there. Even being season pass holders, the discount dont seem much like'a discount. We have also cut back to drink'n water, i dont see paying almost $2.00 ANYWHERE, for soda.
We do eat lunch there, but by supper time we are so wore-out that we go ahead & leave.
The food itself? Its good, but it could be better.

How many of us ( no matter where ya'r at ) stop & wave back at the patrons on the train? We do, we just get funny looks from people. We dont care tho', we enjoy it. Just wish more people would wave back. :'(

I'd have to ask my mom the 1st year i was at SDC, but i do recall the punch tickets. All i know is, The Flooded Mine song used to replay in my head for 2-3 days after we were there.

Hi. We found this site via SDCs Facebook page.
My parents went to SDC for their honeymoon back in the early 60s, they started taking me when i was very young. I have been going ever since. Now my fiance' & i have been season pass holders for about 5 years now, we head that way about every 2 months. I proposed to her by the lil' creek that is by Ray The knife makers Shop.
What we like most about the park is the smells.. The employees are kind & courteous, the bluegrass music is great to hear, just the whole experience!
Our favorite rides are The Giant Swing - Fire in the Hole, & Powderkeg.

Just waitin' for this weather to get better so we can come on down!!
