To be honest, I have NEVER received a copy, EVER. IN all of my 20+ years of being a season pass holder, NOTHING! My wife (or current resident) however gets one every time, and she passes it along to me!

Same here.  My wife's name is on it and she's not even a member of SDCFans.com!  The horror!  The horror!

Well said, Tiffanylynnt!  I used to ask my wife "Do I obsess about SDC?"  (Her answer was "Yes, sometimes"). I also take relief from all the other fanatics who found this site.  If you're going to have an addiction have a healthy one!  I'm also addicted to westerns.  I thank SDC for that as well.  :D

It doesn't say it's a new show on the schedule but I've never seen it either.

They had Best of Missouri Hands at Harvest Fest this year. The rest of it looks great! I'd really like to see the stunt show and roping. Wonder where they're going to do this?
[/quote]

The last time they had this they did the stunt show and roping in the Red Gold Heritage Hall.

Let's just hope it's good...I saw an "It's a wonderful life" show in Kirksville MO that was excellent, then saw another company put it on in STL MO and it was terrible.  Is this replacing the dickens christmas carol?  They did such a good job on the dickens show, I hope this one is just as good.

The website certainly doesn't sound like they're getting rid of the Dickens show.  It says start a tradition with your family with this show in it's 9th season.  Maybe they'll do another show in the Riverfront Playhouse.

After reading the post about the new Western Stunt Show at the Harvest Fest I went to the SDC website to look at information about the Harvest Fest and found out they're bringing back The Salute to the Great American Cowboy!  Yeehaw!  I asked SDC to bring that back in every survey I took from them and they listened.  Thanks SDC!!!

I'm afraid I don't know what the Cowboy Salute is. Would you care to elaborate?

From the SDC website:
The Home of American Craftsmanship, Silver Dollar City welcomes hundreds of visiting craftsmen during the National Harvest Festival!

The Salute To The American Cowboy rides again in a BIG WAY during the granddaddy of all festivals!

•NEW Western Stunt Show
•Over 125 Visiting Craftsmen throughout the park
•Legendary western star and artisan Buck Taylor & Friends
•Best of Missouri Hands juried artists
•Wild Mustangs
•Cowboy Poets
•Trick Horse, Rope and Whip Demonstrations
•Chuckwagons and more!

So I emailed customer service about the cake and they said yes and gave the number to call. Called today and was told they would not be able to do it and that they did not have the man power. I then asked how much in advanced they would need since I was hoping for the weekend coming up but will be down there thanksgiving weekend also. Again was told they could not do. I brought the fact that some had just picked one up and could not give an answer to that.
Did send another email to customer service needless to say was very disappointed by phone conversation.
Wow!  We've got one the last 3 years with no problem.  It was a standard sized round birthday cake.  We did order in person each time but they were very happy to take our order.  IIRC the way we knew they did this was from an ad in the Pathfinder.  Sorry to hear you're having problems jmc75.  I'm sure someone at the park can solve it and get it done.

I know this is off topic but did you order the cake at some point when you were down there in Sept. or do you call. I did not know that they did that.

Yes, we ordered and paid for the cake in September.  We haven't tried ordering one over the phone but I'm sure they'd let you pay with a credit card like that.  I think they may require 24 hours adance notice to prepare the cake.  Well worth the price!

I am setting my tv to record right now! Thanks for the info!

Did you get the episode recorded, Rube?  I thought it was a great show!  We don't have a DVR but I'm hoping they put the show on their website.

Cut down a few trees, level some walking paths, move or implement into the new ride the old train robbers shack, and, you got it! ( I admit, being an old school guy, I hate to see anything done around the old robbers shack...but the big swing is already there, and you can see the modern track support legs, chain link fences with barbed wire on top at the rollercoasters while riding the train...so theme is blown there, they just cannot help it. Time marches on.)

When the citizen working the Giant Swing told me about the new coaster that was planned he said he was sad because they'd be losing their break room.  I asked him where that was and he said the old robbers shack.  Don't know if that means it will be relocated or just inaccessable because of the ride.  With it being Shad and Molly's cabin I can't see it being removed.

Thanks Palallin.  A few years ago she decided she'd rather go to SDC than have a kid's party at our house.  That means another trip to SDC so I'm all for it!

Did they play at the Lumbercamp and do requests for Bluegrass songs?  If so, I remember one of them saying we're not the best musicians but we make a whole lot of money.  Very funny!

Saturday the 22nd review continued: After taking the pieces of cake to citizens my wife and daughter went to the Build a Bear to get a pink poodle and outfits for my daughter's birthday present.  My son and I rode the Giant Swing and I asked one of the operators if they were building a new coaster in that area and he said yes they're supposed to start work on it in the winter.  I asked if he knew what kind and he said no.  So maybe we will get some kind of announcement in the coming months.  After the swing my son and I went to ride Powder Keg which had a fairly long line but moved very quickly.  We didn't hear any music playing including the theme song.  We did hear the theme song playing on our September trip.  After Powder keg I took my daughter on FITH again (her favorite ride) while my wife and son went to help Wildfire set it's record for a million riders in one year.  Then we went to look at the Best of Missouri Hands exhibit and ate supper at the Rib House.  After riding some more rides we went to the Hotel.  The rides ended up staying open until 6:30 because of the large crowd.  Sunday review to follow...

Thanks Sanddunerider!  We've been doing the cake thing for 3 years.  A pretty good sized cake that I believe cost us around 14.50 after the Season Pass discount.  Not a bad deal.
