Y’all have convinced me a trip to Hutchinson(and maybe witchata too) is in order for later this year.
Any suggestions on a great place in Missouri or neighboring states for something dinosaur related for young kids(6yo, 3yo, 1yo)?
Received ours in the mail. Same ol' passes. Is there an upcharge to turn them into digital?
No uncharge to go digital. Just download the SDC app and sign in. If your passes don't automatically show, there is an option to link them via the ID on the back of your pass. Right now, all 2023 passes in the app aren't active and don't show photos or barcodes. We assume that they will become active closer to season opening.

How strange, I didn't get offered an option to choose on the site. I had to go digital with the QR code thing. Though I decided to renew mine at the last minute as I seriously thought abut skipping out for '23, dunno if that was a factor.
We renewed in early December and also had no choice but digital. Also wanted us to upload a picture at the time of purchase with no mention of a picture being taken at first visit. Maybe take a picture first visit if no upload of one.
Glad it worked out HB!
On the subject of season passes, I just ordered mine and saw that they are requiring a photo now for the first time.
I've heard it's been super busy this week now that the weather has improved. Despite this, the rides are having more issues than ever.
People sure love lights. I feel like the light festivals are the only thing keeping SDC going at this point. It's often dead during the summer (with some exceptions on certain weekends), and spring is often hit and miss with Spring Break being super busy and it being dead the rest of the time. Other parks have tried and basically failed to copy SDC's light bonanza. The setting and the scale of what they do is indeed impressive, but it sure feels like basically every other aspect of the SDC experience has fallen off hard over the past few years. I just wonder what it will take for the crowds to stop coming for the lights. I'll be watching the 2023 crowd levels with interest...
Like I said in another thread, it’s probably time for you to find a different hobby.
We've been there with wind chills around -30. There were about 1000 visitors in the park. I was told they wouldn't close early as long as there were guests on park. They will close with winter weather moving in. The last half of December is supposed to be well below normal temps so I would think lighter crowds.
There is a growing chance of white stuff the week before and after Christmas.
With things moving along now, I wonder if they'd give thought to having 2024 Season Pass holder previews during Old Time Christmas next season as an incentive to purchase early.
Dollywood has released their 2023 season pass details. Their silver passes are blacked out from Thanksgiving through the end of the year. Will be interesting to see what happens with SDC pass levels for 2023.
