The Dip 'n Dots guy joke has been around for ages in enthusiast circles. I wasn't even aware they served it at the park.

It's not a completely un-serious joke though, how many of Dollywood's attractions have we heard of first from park employees mentioning something?

When Wildfire was being built I asked and heard details about it from one of the popcorn cart workers.

I e-mailed SDC a few weeks ago asking so see some of the old Saloon shows again and they told me those were on the "radar".  So we may just get our wishes!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: "Secrets" of SDC

This topic is almost a year old but I found out something I didn't know last weekend so I thought I'd reopen it.  We were going through the queue line for Lost River of the Ozarks when one of the workers there told us about the different colored flags they put up above the "watch tower" on the ride ( the tower the citizen sits in before you get to the cave).  Anyway he said a red flag means the wait time for the ride is one hour; a yellow flag means 45 minutes; and a green flag means 3o minutes or less.  The flag was yellow for 45 minutes but we waited anyway and got through the line and off the ride in about 30 minutes.  So I guess the wait times are worse-case scenarios.  I thought I'd pass this helpful info along.

The paint color looks like Geyser Gulch.

I dont remember from years ago if SDC had a gunfight or not. I dont believe they did, but they could do something like that or have a shotgun wedding confrontation. Some skit where the "Pa" confronts the boyfriend of his jilted daughter and he chases him a few feet shooting him in the rump.

Or a hillbilly feud? Yeah, I know the whole "redneck, hillbilly" thing. But I think a couple of hillbillies coming from one direction and a couple from another direction, they run into each other and they "commence to a' fussin' and a' feudin'" right there.

Those are the kind of old street shows I'm hoping for.

Just got back from 2 and a half days at SDC.  For me the way to make it better is to make it more like it was.  My wife and I used to love to get a piece of pie each from Mary's Pie Shop to have for a mid-day snack.  That was when they used to have a whole lot of pies to choose from.  Now they have maybe 2 different choices: cheesecake of strawberry pie.  We used to love the cream and meringue pies!  Also, as I've said before, we really miss the old shows.  I got to talk to Terry Saunders yesterday and told him how much I miss the courthouse show, the Hatfield Haint, the old Saloon shows, etc.  He said he misses  those shows as well.  We managed to catch 2 of the street shows but even those aren't the productions they used to be.  We've watched the street shows the last couple of years and I haven't seen anyone pulled from the crowds to participate.  Of course, the main thing I hear from people standing in queue lines is that they'd like to see more rides.  SDC has survived for over 50 years now by providing quality family entertainment.  I just hope they keep trying to make sure it remains the magical place we all know it can be.

Wouldn't it be great to watch the "street shows" on a webcam?  It would be like having "SDC TV"!

I know this conversation is getting off the original topic a bit, but anyway, I always figured they left the waterboggan tower there to be revamped and used as a queue line for something.  Possibly the Moonshot they ran by us in the new ride survey?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: NEW SDC TIMES IN THE MAIL!
« on: July 10, 2011, 08:03:04 PM »
We bought our teen daughters adult season tickets on 03/20/11 on our visit to the park.  We haven't received anything via mail since, not that they had anything to send until now.  Short of calling them, how would I know if our contact information was entered correctly into the system that day?  I gave them my email also and haven't received emails either.  In years past, receiving the SDC times seemed to be hit and miss, with other family members receiving it at their address but not always at mine.  I remember it coming late also.

Too bad you couldn't go on-line and register your season pass number and create an account, similar to my grocery store loyalty card.  Good idea?

I would call their 800 number and make sure they have your correct info.

I would guess if they don't have to put money into the upkeep for the Waterboggan and Splash Harbor they can invest the money into something new.  (Fingers crossed)

I also got an e-mail survey from SDC today and just took it.  It asked about their website and the different ways I get info about SDC (of course in the comment section I put SDCfans.com!)
Any one of those 3 ride concepts they asked about in the May survey would, I think, generate bigger crowds at SDC, especially the woodie!
