I would wager that Pujols' grand slam was a little more impressive then FukUDoMe?'s homer.  ;)

Other Parks / Re: Great America TR

The park more than likely will be closing after this season anyway, so it is not too big of a surprise that it is in the shape that it is.  CGA has always been the red-headed step child of the chain (even when it was with Paramount) so neglect is not too big of a surprise.

I bet when Vortex is dismantled it will get a good refurb before being moved and it will be much more enjoyable to ride.

Interesting that the Cubs have STILL played the fewest number of games in the Central and the Cards have STILL played the most.

Well as the resident band director, you probably already know that we really never have a summer break, we just sort of put things on hold long enough to run away from town for a week or two of "anything but band" related stuff.

We have our in-service 17-18 and get kids on the 19th.  This year will be interesting as we are going from a 7 period day to an 8 period day.  That will shave some time off each hour in order to accomodate that last period.  We'll see how that works.

Have a busy fall ahead of us with 7 marching competitions spread out in September and October... and when we're not tied up with that we'll be at Faurot Field on home game days to cheer on the Tigers.

Never really ready to go back, but might as well get it over with so I can get back on a routine... before we know it will be Christmas break anyway.

Gunner was a conductor right?  Was that the character's name or his real name. We always enjoyed his work on he train and the skit.

Gunner's real name is Rusty.  He played both Ralphie and was a Conductor

Personally I am ready for them to remove the stop all together.
If need be they could put another sight-gag in that location, but no longer do the stop

Then I would say that the profits vs what it "costs" are not worth doing this a third year.

Well I had a "Silver Dollar Day" until about 6pm and then it became a "Six Flags Day" the rest of the evening (in other words I was NOT "Lovin' it")

Also if they are going to do this event, they need to either install more lights for the pathways or put up the Christmas Lights earlier.  It is way to dark and a potential safety nightmare in some areas.

Oh yeah.  If the Cubs lose it will be because the Cubs beat themselves and their whole "we can't win at the Great American Ballpark" kick they get on every so often.... and not because it's the Reds

TNT - 2 trains
WildFire - 2 trains
PowderKeg - 2 trains

I honestly thought they should have thrown the 3 train on PK, but I doubt they wanted to press their luck since it had been down since 2pm.

They had two "new to us" guys playing the Bolens on Saturday.  IDK if they were just not used to their parts yet or just didn't care but the whole thing didn't do anything for me.  I miss Gunner and Butch playing the roles as I believe they were the two that debuted the current script.

Was there Saturday and honestly had a great day until Moonlight Madness started.  There was a huge influx of people then that either used free passes or the reduced admission then.  Add into the fact that Powder Keg had been down since 2PM and the fact that they were using a very extreme skeleton crew across the park, SDC was rather overwhelmed.  Lines for food were up to over and hour.  WildFire for some reason refused to open its inside queue line area so the line stretched up to American Plunge.  TNT had a line through the extened queue in the station down the stairs.  Grand Expo area rides all had lines filling their queues.  American Plunge had a line down out the entrance to the furniture store, but wouldn't open the extended queue line either.

Oh and when PowderKeg reopened at about 9pm, the line for that swelled through the entire queue and the line was down to the entrance arch down near the Saloon area.  It was well over 2 hours wait.

While I did not mind the lines for the rides, the lines for the food got under my skin.  'specially the at Lumbercamp.  The lady taking orders was slow as molasses.  Then on top of that she had the nerve to whine she had been there since 11am to everyone in line.

The event is getting there , but I think they still have a ways to go before they have it to "SDC level".

Baby bears have a hard time winning away from Wrigley Field.  They are 22-29 away from their friendly confines of the "a pop-fly is a home run here" stadium.

Man talk about a weird day though, how often do both the Cards and cubs lose on the same day?  Seems like it is one or the other but never both.

Cubs will finally make up one of their "5 less games played this season" tomorrow as the Cards have the day off and the Cubs will go to the "hard to win at for them" Great American Ball Park in Cincy.

Those ways of enticing people sound like acts of desperation to me.

Well I thought that was going to be ultimate goal when they started with the new entrance area last... the re-theme.  Why they didn't continue that trend this year is beyond me (poor economy is not a viable excuse to make upgrades to the infrastructure of your park).

Personally I would take out Bermuda Triangle as it takes up too much valuable land space and put in a large ProSlide Tornado slide.. they could expand into the parking lot if need be, but I think at the very least a Tornado should be added.  Then after that, open the ProSlide catalogue and order anything they don't have.
