I wonder how bad it will be Friday (crowd wise).  Might drive up then.

You’ll have the park to yourself. They are going to be closed Friday as well. Given how cold it’s supposed to be I think it’s a good call.

Time to combine SDC and Dollywood in this poll.  Leave no doubt

removed the Rudolph meet and greet.

FYI Rudolph meet and greet still exists. It takes place in fireman’s landing on the splash pad area.

Was at the city yesterday and got a quick picture of the continued progress on the facade for FITH2.

Assuming that it’s lit like the rest of fireman’s landing for OTC it’s going to look amazing during OTC.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / 2023 passes
« on: November 28, 2022, 09:31:38 AM »
I purchased 2023 passes last night, and uploaded a photo of myself behind a microphone expecting that I’d get an error because not enough of my face was visible. As far as I can tell from the website the only requirement is that the photo be less than 5mb and be a jpg or one other format. One of my kids photos the system automatically cropped and zoomed to their face. So it seems like they do want just a face shot, but they provided no instructions on what they wanted in the photo. I’m curious if anyone knows if they have actual requirements for the photos?

yes. they will be VERY BUSY. those days they usually hit max capacity. if you're going get there an hour or more before they open or if you just want to go to see the lights you can go after the first parade when half the people are leaving.

I know bats have been mentioned before in this thread and there are lots of bat coasters out there…. But I’d love to see an indoor wild mouse. I think themeing it to the flight of a bat coming out of Marvel cave and flying through the trees could be really fun.

So a bit of a random question...

What's everyone's bets on Chuggington Adventure Depot potentially returning next year?

If not, given comments of it being a "touring experience" on the press release after the launch, where do you all feel it could be heading next?

I hope not. It was rather short underwhelming to me. At the very least they could have had some sensors on the “trains” and buildings so they would interact with each other a little.  It should really head back to the drawing board. I know by the end of the season the trains all needed some major tlc.

it really would make sense to me to restrict silver passes from Saturdays October-Dec.

I'm a little disappointed with dropping the discounts for silver and that they didn't add more perks for gold and silver. One of the surveys this fall that I did asked a lot of questions about different perks for passes, and how much those perks would motivate me to get a particular pass level. I really expected them to add a few of those things. Mostly they were some of the things they did this year as VIP events and access. I'm also a little disappointed that's gone too. it was fun to have some random perks at each festival.

I'm also surprised that they don't have BAF passes for the harvest festival. With that being one of their best festivals it seems like a good time to have BAF passes to get people to bring guests who might decide to become pass holders. I'm assuming they did not do BAF for it because attendance was so strong for harvest fest, they don't want to lose money by having people there on free passes.

all of that said, I'm getting passes for next year and am happy overall with the perks and prices. I'm shocked they didn't raise the silver pass price and just raised gold and diamond $10.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Train Crash?

For me personally, I won’t ride again until they have a very transparent announcement of what went wrong, what they are doing to prevent it from happening again(and that plan being believable to prevent it), and what other safety enhancements they are adding(seatbelts maybe?)

It seems pretty unlikely to reopen this year, I’d expect an investigation to take at a bare minimum 6-8 weeks but likely more. I do hope they come up with a way to have story time with grandpa somewhere. I think The dockside theater would be a good place for that, but I don’t remember what they usually have there at Christmas.

I do wonder if the passenger cars are just too wide for the narrow gage railway that they have.

Pretty bad stuff. https://www.facebook.com/100062527059929/videos/1469541250223467/

EDIT: Makes me wonder in the wake of this, they may nix Ichabod and the Ol' wreck of '82 from the script since this is roughly where this happened.

Definitely seems appropriate to nix that bit for a while if not permanently.

Prayers that everyone is able to recover quickly and that no one suffers long term injuries.

Geeze this has been a rough year for SDC…. Fire, death of the citizen,  and now this.

With this https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1356862104847268 without Fire in the Hole, we know that the ride is not coming in 2023. Fried Fancies and Heartland Home furnishing's, a new parking lot and college dorms are new in 2023. Wow when can I get my season pass.  ::)

Parking and turn lane are going to be done in 2024, some of it might open in 2023 but it will be 2024 before the whole project is finished.

I’m not clear on the timeline for the worker housing, I think it’s 2024 as well but could be 2023.

So for 2023 we get a rebuilt fried fancies with expanded waterfall dining area(most likely making that area no longer a calm quiet spot to eat away from crowds) and a rebuilt heartland home furnishings.

I do wonder if the delay to FITH2 means they will double up on attractions and do a new ride attraction in 2025 or if this will push back most of their plans by a year.

With the discussion of the Fire in the Hole location becoming the new location for the depot and the loop being opened here for traffic purposes....if it was me I would remove that stand completely as it is a hindrance to traffic flow.

This is usually where Swoosh jumps in and tells us we are all wrong  :)

yeah long term that makes sense, but I doubt they remove it before they remove FITH, so it probably has a function next year or two.

I hope it returns to the flatbreads, but I'm doubtful it will. being a seasonal/festival food stand seems likely.

Has anyone else noticed that they didn't actually say anything about pork rinds, it feels like not specifically saying they are coming back is a bad sign for those waiting for their return.
