General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2021 Crowds
« on: March 26, 2021, 04:19:41 PM »
It sure seems like there were more than 9,000 there today. We just left lots 2,3 and 5 were full. Flooded mine was a 20-30 minute wait most of the day. It felt more like days In the past that were around 18,000. I’m sure some of that is not having as many shows to siphon people away from paths, but I’d guess they were around 12,000-14,000.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Digital season passes
« on: March 26, 2021, 11:00:59 AM »
As I’m still standing in line to pick up my season passes at the park(over an hour so far, will probably be about 90 minutes total). I find my self staring at signs touting how the app has mobile tickets for one day tickets and I’m pondering why they haven’t added digital season passes to the app. Does anyone have insight as to why not? Is there anything we can do to encourage a faster adoption of digital passes, it would seem they have most of the tech in place since they already have one day passes in the app.

Other Parks / Re: Kentucky Kingdom/WA/FC Rumor

I really can’t see HFE being in a place(currently or next 5 years)where they could buy sea world or even become a majority partner. While it’s fun to speculate it just seems highly improbable. It would be like whataburger buying out Burger King. One chain is so much smaller they just don’t have the capital to come close to doing a deal like that.

All that said. The banter between sea world and SDC on Facebook yesterday was fun.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: First time and weight
« on: March 05, 2021, 02:59:05 PM »
I’m similar height and weight. The train and flooded mine are good to ride. On flooded mine just be aware it’s a real boat and you do need to balance weight in it(I sit closer to the center than the outside). Tom and Hicks river blast is also not a problem, it’s a water ride and you can get pretty wet. I don’t really ride the coasters, so that’s about all I ride other than some of the kiddie rides with my kids. I haven’t tried mystic river falls yet but it should be okay.

There is a main hill that can be rough for people walking up/down it but there are paths you can take to go arround it that aren’t as steep. I don’t have problems on it but I know some people do.

I love the fry bread place, but really most of the food is good.

The craftsmen and women are awesome. Personally the glass blowers are my favorite, I can watch them for an hour or more. The pottery shop is another good one, they are real close to you and talk to you while they are working.

The shows are good, I don’t know yet what they are doing this year(last year they only used outdoor theaters, which cut back on their normal show schedule)

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC website
« on: January 24, 2021, 08:53:54 AM »
I think part of the problem was Covid, they removed a lot of things because of the pandemic but didn't get them fully removed from the site. In some places, the link was removed but not the page so you can still get to them, in other places a page was removed but not the links. They seem to do an update right around the start of the season so hopefully, they will clean some of that up.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2021 Seasons pass benefits

Does anyone know if they are getting rid of the food discount for regular pass holders? It appears that they are(it’s not listed on the pass holder benefits).

I am a little surprised that SDC is closed every Monday and Tuesday until Dec 21.  This seems like a golden opportunity to make up for some of the  revenue from missed days this year.  Of course they know a lot more than I do about the attendance and employee situation for adding extra days.

Wednesday and Thursday are pretty slow all fall-Christmas, adding 2 more days would mean staffing issues. Right now all staff can work all 5 days they are open for 8 hours and not hit overtime, if they are open 7 days a week then you have to stagger days off for everyone. They seem to already be having an issue with staffing, that would just make it worse.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC’s 2021 Project(s) and Park Developments
« on: August 05, 2020, 02:05:49 PM »
I hope I’m wrong, but I’m starting to think we are going to be in a pandemic mitigation situation for another year maybe longer. With that in mind, I could see them making some front entrance remodels this office season. Something with a focus of helping guest flow while pandemic precautions are in effect but also streamlining flow for a post pandemic world where they hopefully return to crowd levels they had before the pandemic.

But like the rest of y’all I don’t expect anything big for 2-3 years minimum. I think their next big ride would be a coaster, those seem to have the biggest effect on attendance. I’d still love to see some more indoor everyone can ride options but in light of covid I think they will need/want something that really brings in crowds and new visitors.

I’d love to see a couple of high capacity indoor rides. I think they could do something really fun that would be similar to buzz light year or Men in black, that’s themed either to fireman’s landing where you are putting out fires or to a more generic hunting or gunslinger theme. I’d also love a classic storytelling dark ride.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: OPENING JUNE 13, 2020
« on: June 02, 2020, 09:43:49 PM »
I feel like masks are 100% a CYA move for the park. With all of the constant removing for rides, eating, and drinking along with normal fidgeting with them because it’s hot and abnormal to wear a mask all day, there effectiveness is going to be reduced to almost nothing. I hope some more experiments will soon show the ineffectiveness and we can do away with wearing them, especially outside.

Has anyone heard what they are doing with the refil mugs and or the unlimited drink tumblers. As far as I know restaurants have all ceased letting you get drinks in your own cup and I’m curious how SDC is dealing with that.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Starbucks in the park?
« on: March 31, 2020, 02:10:39 PM »

2. These are not full blown Starbucks.  They will serve maybe 4 options and will be in addition to what is being sold not the marquee attraction.

So not actually Starbucks just serving Starbucks coffee? If that's the case, this will likely be the same or less out of place as all the coke logos in the park.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 1 hour Your 3 must see
« on: March 27, 2020, 08:50:11 AM »
If it’s just me, I’d watch some glass blowing, ride the FM, and grab some food and sit by the waterfall while I eat.

If my son is with me, we’d ride the FM for the whole hour and it wouldn’t be enough times to satisfy him.

Random Talk / Re: The Newbies Thread

Hi, I’ve been reading since early this spring, I found the forum searching on google for SDC rumors about the construction for Mystic River Falls. This year is our first year as season pass holders, we’ve gone the last couple of years at Christmas but decided that we should do seasons passes this year. Our 2.5 year old loves silver dollar city.
