Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC’s 2022 Project(s) and Park Developments
« on: February 02, 2022, 07:31:57 AM »

Having (what I'm assuming to be) a travelling exhibit they could easily have tour the parks is an excellent way to start out doing attractions for the parks without being too bombastic or out of place. Just curious where they're gonna be locating it...

M assuming it would be in the carousel barn or the building attached to tatter twist…. If it’s bigger than what those buildings can hold then maybe out in pumpkin plaza. I suppose red gold hall would be the other option…

Why would that make the train less enjoyable?

It’s hard for me to see them taking out FM and not adding in some type of dark ride in a boat. A dark ride in a boat is such a theme park staple. Plus, They really don’t have a lot of rides that are good for the full family(baby all they way to 99 year old) to do together.

The park message today is a bit different than most of the recent high crowd day messages. They are straight up saying they are out of parking spaces. Not that the park is simply busy, but that they literally have no more room to park people. I've never seen them say that before. I wonder if they are still parking people behind the bank?

I understand staff shortages and get the lower park capacity but how are they running out of parking when they are at about 2/3 of the real max capacity. (My understanding is that pre-pandemic capacity was 24k-25k, current capacity is about 16k)

I’d like to see a worlds fair event. Something tying in to the historical world fairs.

I like the idea of a food and wine fest, but am not sold on having alcohol in the park. There already seems to be an increasing number of unkind guests in the city and I fear alchool would increase that more.
Maybe a home cooking or country cooking festival.

SDCfan88, I'm assuming you are advocating for closing parks/large outdoor events based on NOAA's SPC forecast. would a marginal risk be enough to have them closed or would you say it has to be a higher risk than that? what do they do when they open and there wasn't a risk for that day but in the morning update at 11 am there is now a risk? I can see both sides of this, I think there should be some level of threat that they close the park for, I'm just not sure what an appropriate threshold is. I follow severe weather pretty close, covered severe weather for the radio station I worked at in college, and live in Joplin.

I hope SDC will take some steps to make the park safer in the event of severe weather(signs designating shelter spaces and building some shelters into future buildings)

So here's a quick look at some thoughts I've had. I like the idea of a hotel down by the lake. A second park on some of the Indian ridge land feels like a natural expansion and would add options to expand while keeping SDC more on theme.  A steampunk alternate history theme could be really fun. I'd love to see a new waterpark, with deeper more immersive theming.  the park and waterpark could share parking in the Indian ridge area. Last and maybe least likely an indoor resort hotel/entertainment complex. something similar to greatwolf lodge. I think its a stretch for them to do something like that but I think they could and it would be profitable.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Souvenir Mug For 2022
« on: November 20, 2021, 02:18:38 PM »
the mugs that come with the gold pass are the standard refill mugs. you can refill them for around $2 with regular drinks and I think $2.50-$3(i'm not 100% sure on the price), they would be very similar to the pre-2012 mugs. they are like all post-2012 mugs only good for one year.

the Vip mug/tumblers are a thing they started a couple of years ago, they are $70 and can be added to your season passes. they offer free refills of all drinks(other than ice cream drinks).

In a thread about Indian Ridge, MG posted some GIS info showing land that SDC/Herschland owns, It got me curious about what all they do own in the area. They have a bit more land than I realized. Just for fun, I'd love to hear your thoughts on what cool things they could do with it over the next decade.

I think this shows all of their lands in stone county(at least around SDC), it is possible they have some subsidiaries that own other land but all of this was in their company names.

I hope they are keeping the vip mugs. I’ve loved having that.

While on the train Wednesday, our conductor said they are remodeling the salon. I don’t remember them saying that earlier this year(just saying things like the salon girls decided to take the show on the road). I don’t know if they actually are doing a remodel. If they are I feel like they might be making the ground floor all one level to be more disability accessible.

Anyone else hear anything about a remodel? Anything you’d like to see them do if they are remodeling?

Does SDC do anything special on the 4th? How are crowds?

I find myself with no plans this year for the 4th and am contemplating going to SDC.

Anyone else see the news about the RMC family hybrid?

It has me wondering if the construction at SDC is related. It seems like a rough spot to fit a coaster into, especially if they stick to SDC’s norm of keeping coasters mostly out of sight.

« on: April 16, 2021, 09:17:14 AM »
If you rolled over your pass you should have gotten new guest passes.

If you extended your 2020 pass to the end of 2021 you should have gotten new passes.

If you did neither of those and just have your 2020 pass, it's good till June 13th and you have a bring a friend pass that's good till then. You can use the reservation system to redeem it or visit a ticket booth. I think the only blackout on that was for young Christians weekend but I'm not 100% sure.

If you did one of the first two(before February of this year) you should have a free pass that is good from open till june 13,a $25 pass for 7/24-8/8, a free pass 8/9-10/1(not on sept 4,5, nor 25), free pass 11/28-12/30(not good on saturdays)

The tasting passport is for smaller portions. I’m disappointed this wasn’t communicated clearly. It seems like some items are a better value than others.

Tried the tater tumblers(you get two)loaded potato, they were good. It looked like you get 1 chicken skewer.

Pic of street corn hot dog and blt Mac and cheese. Street corn was really good, my wife said the blt Mac was good as well.

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this but the drop on Mystic river falls appears to have been resurfaced. Unless I’m crazy last year it was white rollers, this year it’s a black solid surface. Not the best picture, but it shows the black surface of the drop.
