SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: Buzzsaw Falls Video

I remember Waiting for Buzz Saw Falls to Open I Was so Excited! I Dont know if anyone remembers but it was delayed a whole year and didnt open till late in the 1999 season because they had to do a major rebuild to the rapids section. Either way I remeber when I finally rode it I felt let down. I remember thinking Thats it? However the ride did grow on me and I do have fond memories. Specifically riding it at night! I got two good rides in the dark on that ride and they still hold the spot as the best night rides on a Roller Coaster I have ever done! And I've rode Raven and Legend in the pitch black! All I can say is it was a magical moment I will never forget! I think it was wise to build powderkeg in its place however. I was very happy though that they paid respect to BSF in the themeing for Powderkeg! Makes me smile and remember those night rides every time I see it! I do miss it sometimes though! But you know what I really Miss! ORE CART! Best Kiddie Coaster EVER!  ;D

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Working In The City
« on: April 27, 2012, 08:30:50 AM »
So me and my boyfriend are considering moving to the Branson area. Now I have dreamed of working at silver dollar city since I was a kid. Now I know that there are tons of different jobs within the park but I was wondering about basic pay rates for ride operators people in shows and other things. Also what is the atmosphere like working there. I worry though that if I work there the park might lose its magic. I have years of public relations and customer service under my belt I am just wondering if this is worth actually considering. Thank you  ;D

Now one of the few things we apparently know is that this ride will use RMCC topper track. Now I have never experienced their topper track. Could anyone fill me in on how it rides.

Fact is that until we actually see a official layout none of us really know. Only thing we do know for certain is that it will have a lift hill. lol So I went back and I had completely forgotten about the Bull wooden coaster concept they sent out a year or two back. So what do you all think? Will this be the direction they go in with the theme of this ride? I personally have mixed emotions about the idea.

I have a bolt from wildfire! Shortly after construction started in 2000 I wrote the park and to my surprise they sent me a packet that included one of the spare bolts from the ride. It even has a tag on it stating part number and the manufacturer B&M   ;D

Well I can confirm it will not be a pure woodie. There is brown track on site. No photos as the track is still a "secret"

speaking of that. One if the main things I kept hearing from the employees at the park while I was there this past weekend is that this new coaster would have a inversion! Which made me cringe cause I immediately went thinking of SOB and I tend to hate gimmick stuff. However though I do also trust SDC and if they do something of that nature I'm sure they will do it right! But dear god let this be more wood coaster than gimmick!

"You do realize how hard it is to relocated a wooden coaster, right?"

This is true but its still cheaper than building one from scratch especially considering its already so close to SDC.

"think the Grand Expo can be improved.  Reinforce some theming out there and expand it west toward the highway.  Look at all of the room they have to add some recycled (and rethemed) CC rides."

At the very back of the Great Exposition there is a lovely peice of flat land being used for employee parking. Now personally I would love to see them relocate The Ozark Wildcat to that spot with the right retheaming it would be the perfect addition to that area of the park. The entire look of the ride with its beautiful sweeping curves and old world charm would blend and fit into the area perfectly!
