General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2019 Daily Attendance
« on: October 03, 2019, 08:18:42 AM »
My family will not attend the Pumpkin Nights deal. We love fall and pumpkins and all things of that nature. But we dont go to SDC for 20.00 bubble wands and to listen to hip cool dance music. It is just not us. I hope they do not get rid of the craft portion, its my fave.

Its great they are trying to draw in the youths. I think its great more memories are being made for others. Shoot when I was a youth they had Nickelodeon there during Kids Fest and that was amazing!! (NOT on brand, much like dance parties at PN) So I get it. They drew me in with shiny cool things. I am a life long visitor now because of the memories I made then.

Maybe next year they will expand the PN to include something besides black lights and dance parties?

I still love the craft/cowboy part better though. :)

Just sheer opinion, but I dont want more flat rides tarting it up. For me, SDC isnt about how many rides can be shoved onto the real estate. But then again, we do not go from mid June to Sept 1 because we dont like the crowds or heat.

The weather has been a bit much this year. Wet, wet, wet, then hot, hot, hot. Just not enjoyable.

Again, pure opinion, an issue I have with working at SDC is the pay. Its not worth it by the time you factor in all the bills you have plus if you should have day care costs. Its a true struggle. (I know its not a job for adults) On the other side of things I get that its a minimum wage job due to all the other costs SDC has. Quite the balance they have to strike.

I am just wondering how geared towards littles this is. I know pumpkins are for all ages, but this just seems more for little ones. Which is odd considering how late this runs. I am not sure if we will stay for the pumpkin scene. We dont go to MM because it does not fit SDC, IMO. I dont mind the onslaught of pumpkins either, but the kinda juvenile aspect of this does not appeal to me. We are going for the craft portion though! :)

I was there yesterday and asked around about this event because I am not sure I want to stay for it or not. From what I was told there would be special eateries in the new woodland area with one way in and out. Dance parties and pumpkins everywhere. He stressed it was NOT Halloween and there would be no candy passed out or things of that nature. It was strictly about the pumpkin. Not Halloween. I walked back into GE and saw some of the pumpkins and the couple sculptures that are out. Its looking nice. Was also told the shops would be closed down as well as a majority of the eatin places. The bigger ones would stay open and the rides would be open.

This might be sexist of me, sorry in advance, but it really bums me out to see a girl playing Ralpie/Alphie. I mean, its fine, but I dont care for it. Its weird for me I guess.

Its possible that they were old jokes just brought back. One that comes to mind is insteado f the "hey hey hey" joke it was a little dance. They did the stick up joke. It was just a varied show that I had not seen. I was used to the same jokes in the same order and this was not it. The "this close to an idiot" was not used either. They also used a prop I couldnt decipher along with a joke I couldnt hear because the speaker quality isnt the greatest. It was at the end after the conductor was back on the train. Alphie found something of Ralphies???

I was so excited to see the tiny tables! Like I stopped in the middle of the road and everything. Its a good thing we were there for ERT and no one was behind us! Mom didnt get it till I sat down.

We went today and it was wonderful! Great weather and not a huge crowd, but people there. The rides my son and I rode were mostly walk on or maybe a 10 minute wait if that.

The train robbery had an updated show. It was nice to hear some new jokes!

A couple things I noticed......new to me......outside the time traveler eatery.....on the rock wall island they installed tables in the rock wall so you could eat and have mini tables. In the planter part was what appeared to be tree trunks that had USB ports in there. They called them Ozark Electric Trees. So yall can now eat and charge your cellular devices at the same time. Each tree had 5-6 ports. Pretty neat.

I hear good things about the Mellow Mushroom coming to the Landing. I have never been to any of the locations so I would not know first hand. I am excited to at least try it......unless its a PD cost.

From what I understand, its something like 17.99 a person. You get to choose ONE protein for a table of 4 with 4 (??) sides. Thats it. I believe its all you can eat. NOT a buffet. NOT a menu. It is what it is. I wont eat there. That is a ton of cash for my family. Especially per person.

Then why did the lady selling the dessert give us the lids for it and tell us we could take it with us?

The mason jar desserts are pricey, but you get to keep the jar. So its not a total bust. I split a nacho with my mom and it was 13.00 with discount. (I opted to use my 1.50 refill mug) The variety is ok. My group all got something different and were all pleased.
