General Silver Dollar City Talk / Question about Powder Keg
« on: July 09, 2019, 10:06:18 AM »
So I was watching a video about someone’s trip to SDC (specifically this https://youtu.be/Rnm956g2Gzg)

I was scrolling through the comments and saw one of the comments was about the broken track part of Powder Keg, and it said as follows

“The backwards track section on Powder Keg is there because the coaster doesn’t have any brake fins on the launch, so if a rollback on the top hat occurs, the train will roll back onto that section of track, until it eventually valleys. It is there simply for safety reasons :)

Is this true?? I’ve never heard anything about this before

Planning on going Monday the 10th, assuming that crowds will be lower. Might even get there around opening time just to have more time to wander around  ;D

Part of me really wants an HFEC hyper... but I think a Time Traveler-esque spinner would do well over there. They are still unique, and obviously so much fun.
If they do a MACK spinning coaster like Time Traveler, I can see them putting it in Wildwood Grove and making the train look like a giant leaf!

I think they have been doing a really good job with their social media
I whole heartedly agree, whoever they hired is doing a fantastic job with the posts!

Well the SDC Facebook page just did a post about the "blacktop" as they called it. More proof they are watching/reading this forum.
Waaay to funny on the timing.  ;D
I wouldn't be surprised if the social media marketer that they have currently (the one who's been making the 10/10 meme posts) has an account on here or snoops around here on the daily

Now we have to figure out who it is!  :P

Maybe that's how they funnel the rafts into the loading dock? To me it looks like it's leading into what Swoosh is speculating the station to me.

EDIT: Nevermind, the foundation for the station looks to be in the background of the section they're making

With the new 2019 season approaching us with less a week away, what are you guys expecting to be changed??

Any speculations or hopes??

I have a hunch something new is on track for this season.
I’m feeling generous - I’ll give you 14 guesses on what they got boiling

Hmm, a new restaurant serving boiled seafood with 14 options?   :P

It's not surprising that they are already working with mock ups considering that this will be an "in house" build.  Supposedly this is the first ride designed and built exclusively by the park since the last Lost River.

What do you mean by an "in house" build? Does that mean that there isn't a specific manufacture making/designing the ride?

Do you think they would plant grass or begin to plant vegetation around TT? Everybody I've heard from said they don't like how the rock/clay/dirt looks and that it still looked like a construction site even after it was done. I really do hope they planted some new trees and some grass.

I don't think SDC would change that much if they completely redo the ride from the ground up. I think they know that it's so beloved by the GP and that they wouldn't remove the Baldknobbers from the ride.

Rolla/St. James is currently at around 4-5 inches with another round of snow coming soon and well into tomorrow.

You know, I wonder why they won't make Lake Silver bigger and better with a fountain show. I understand that there's the train tracks, but even then an old-styled wooden trestle would be extremely cool for the train to cross over.
