USA Today rated them the "best pizza in Missouri"

Our service was top notch and the pizza was awesome. Totally a place we would never have known existed if it wasn't for the Pickers.

I agree with you....of course the irony being that the old style bulbs are not era appropriate either but we are used to them so don't mind them as much :-)

I feel your pain. My wife doesn't get it either.

SDC has always felt like a second home to me.

Yeah, but my wife would not go for it. She would not be interested in me going alone, and she would not want to go. She thinks I live in the past enough as it is. She just does not understand my fascination with Branson/SDC, although she likes to take short vacations to Branson...but more for the shopping and flea markets. Oh well.

Ah, more memories flooding back. When I close my eyes I can almost smell the plastic ball pit and how cold the plastic balls felt on my skin.
What upsets me though is that my daughter won't get to experience most of these due the "progress" of the city. The 2 changes that upset me the most about the park have to be the inaccessibility of Huck Finn's hideaway and the obliteration of Tom's Sawyer's landing. Did we really need to remove what I feel was the best playground area I have ever seen/experienced - something with physical activity for our kids and replace it with another freaking ride? I love rides too, but come on. Why don't we just rent the motorized karts at the front gate so that our kids never have to walk.

Sorry, I am getting down off the soapbox now.

Thanks for all the mental images people!

I would have to say my favorites are Huck Finn's Hideaway and Tom Sawyer's landing. Both of which I think are gone or at least inaccessible now. :-(

These were things I hoped to share with my own kids.

my parents first took me to SDC when I was just a baby - I believe the first family trip was either 78 or 79.

Like many, for me going to SDC feels like going home again.
