It's open but there are still lawsuits pending in regards to the tiger attack of a volunteer last year.

It was announced on July 4th on one of the Springfield TV stations that Nelly would be the opening concert for the GP in August (21st, I think) in the back parking lot.  Renovations continue on the inside of the GP.

I've been a season pass holder for years, and sometimes I get the Times and sometimes I don't.  I haven't received the current issue yet.  I sure would like to get this issue, though, since it has a coupon for $2.99 cinnamon bread (or so I read on another board). ;D

Read today on another board that there's a new issue of SDC Times in the mail.  Has several BAF coupons and some coupons for food and merchandise.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Dollywood TV Special
« on: July 03, 2010, 08:19:46 PM »
I just finished watching the show.  Was more about Dolly Parton's career than about Dollywood.  Really didn't get to see that much of the park.  But from seeing the scene from one of the major shows at DW, I know that the Opera House productions at SDC are much better.

The special is on the Hallmark channel.  It also features a duet: Dolly and Miley Cyrus singing "Jolene".

Show used to be on Indian Point.  Was supposed to move to 76 and reopen but the economy tanked.

We went to SDC a couple of times during Christmas 2009; Catfish didn't have his musical instruments of the Bible show.

My understanding is that Janet Dailey is still in the Branson area.  She purchased the Ye Olde English Inn in downtown Hollister and is in the process of refurbishing it.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Lost River Ride 5/29
« on: May 30, 2010, 08:55:06 AM »
Over at the www.1branson.com board, someone mentioned a problem with the Lost River ride on Saturday May 29th.  Anyone here know what happened?  Supposedly the ride was shut down twice and the people in one boat had to be rescued by an employee wearing waders and using a ladder.

We used to go to Thunder Road until it was torn down to build the Titanic.

Husband said there was a question about food PRICES.  Most of the questions had a numerical scale.  We do think food prices are too high.

Other Parks / Re: Libertyland (Memphis)
« on: May 25, 2010, 06:57:58 PM »
I lived in Memphis from 1985 - 1998 and never went to Libertyland other than during the Mid-South Fair every year.  Libertyland admission fees were never enough to support the park, and the City Council never fully funded it, either.  Although I've enjoyed roller coasters at many parks, I never rode the Zippin' Pippin -- my loss.  Not only is Libertyland gone but the Mid-South Fair is no longer held in Memphis.  The Fairgrounds is supposed to be redeveloped into something -- if the Memphis politicians can ever agree on what that something is.
