I am really getting excited to try it out.  If I am not mistaken I am thinking they have a hot tub out by the pool, is this correct?

The pool has water but the hot tub/jacuzzi did not when we were there Sunday night.

Had another good stay on Sunday night the 12th. Different room this time, no recliner -- again everything very clean, definitely like the beds better than Classic.

Needed to get on the road so we had to skip breakfast again.

I have no idea who Rhonda Vincent is, so I guess I should be good.

LOL..  Rhonda Vincent is probably 1 of the top 3 Best Bluegrass singers in the country, if not the best.  She and her group do a great job and give a very good show.
With her show on Sunday, they will be full house for her show.

Mother's Day was more crowded than I expected and was definitely more crowded than May 5th which was a better day in terms of weather than Mother's Day. Rhonda did not draw a full house or anything close to it on the 12th but it was definitely more than the Grascals on the 5th.

Other Parks / Schlitterbahn Kansas City not reopening this year
« on: May 09, 2019, 07:21:27 AM »
Looks like Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City will not reopen this year, and it sounds as though it may be sold.

Did the slide ever get torn down after that terrible accident?

Weather was very pleasant Sunday night for the Grascals (and for the 3rd time right before the group's appearance at SDC a member left the group and was replaced).

From the amount of people in attendance we could have fit in Red Gold or the Opera House in case of inclement weather.

We had a 1 night stay Sunday May 5th. Was able to check in at 1:30 before we headed out to SDC for the afternoon and evening. Room was very clean, was pleasantly surprised to find the room had 2 queen beds and a recliner.

We didn't check out the breakfast this time but the coffee in the breakfast room was great!

Many Thanks!!

They tried to charge a higher rate when my husband made a reservation last week. He said, no, that's not what I have been paying. He gave them the rate we had been paying, and they honored it.

In the whatever category, we were watching TV there Thursday night, and the cable went out around 11:15 and was still off the next morning. The message on the screen said no signal. The person at the desk was not concerned when we reported it when we checked out.

We went on Thursday the 11th. In the park shortly after 10 am. Stopped at the bathroom by Old Time Photos. Women's bathroom needed a deep cleaning -- several stalls had stuff swiped on the walls (puke, spilled drinks, etc.)

Had no trouble getting into the 10:30 saloon show -- really liked the new show, cast seemed into it, about 90 % full. From there we got right into FITH. Really sad that there was no audio, very strange. Then exited and went right into the Opera House for the 11:30 Cirque show. It was enjoyable and again about 90% full. From there we got some Chesters Chips (price increase from last year) and sat at the Lumbercamp dining area.

Stopped at the Riverfront bathroom -- stall walls and doors there needed cleaning, too, even more so than the other bathroom. Walked through the Grand Exposition and then went to FM. Rode it and walked back to Red Gold for the Phoenix Fire show. It was okay but I wouldn't go again if it returns next year. It was about 90 % full.

Then we walked back to the Dockside Theater for the Paint Jam, enjoyed it, about 80% full. RiverBlast was shut down due to a malfunction. Heard an announcement that they would try to get the people off the boats as soon as possible. The boats were stalled just before the return to the station.

Saw 2 school groups, one was a choir that performed near the ticket booths just before opening. Park really was not crowded. We didn't see the jugglers or the harpists (seems like the same performers just keep getting rebranded every year or 2) or the pogo stick guys. We heard the one man band briefly as we were exiting the park -- not impressed.

When I got home Friday I had a guest experience survey waiting for me in my email. In the comment section I went into detail about the bathroom cleanliness issue. However, I forgot to mention the issue with no sound on FITH.

Next visit will be during Bluegrass and BBQ.

FYI -- if you have been using the 1-800 number to make reservations, it has been disconnected. The number is 417-334-6991.

We like Black Oak Grill at the Landing when we want a large lunch -- prices are lower than in the evening -- and lunch prices last until 3 pm. Recommend the meatloaf.

We also like Reeds Spring Pizza. Hungry Hunter out by Table Rock Dam is good for breakfast.

SDC Memories/ Park History / SDC Ride Timeline review

Branson Tri-Lakes just published an article (free reading)  about the removal of the Lost River. The article also has a timeline of the rides at SDC plus mentions some that have come and gone such as BuzzSaw Falls.
