Other Parks / Re: Dogpatch USA sells for $1.12 million
« on: February 06, 2021, 11:17:33 AM »
I am back to driving by Dogpatch 2 - 4 times a month. It looks so different now from the day Johnny Morris bought it. Most of the buildings are gone. Some type of cliffside excavation is going on now.

Will be 2021 before we go back to SDC. We filled out the season pass rollover form earlier this month.

What I read on the website made it seem as though there would not be any indoor shows this fall or for Christmas.

The Branson aldermen had a meeting yesterday to debate a mask requirement. It was on YouTube and went over 7 hours -- vote postponed for 2 weeks. During the meeting someone said that SDC average attendance was 3000 per day.

If that is the case, how can SDC make enough money to stay open?

Total paid at OVI was 52.69. We paid more at HOF even though DH called directly and asked for the discount when he made the reservation.

We stayed there on Thursday night 7/9 at the discount rate. We did have to stay upstairs though. I actually liked the upstairs room we had better than the ones we have stayed in downstairs. Breakfast was available, pool was open.

We tried Hall of Fame 2 weeks ago but like OVI better.

Here is what Yakov had to say about moving his show to the strip in this free article from Branson Tri-Lakes News:

What would SDC have to do to make you feel comfortable enough to go back?

Open. That's all it would take for me.

I don't deny the seriousness of the virus. I've been working right through the entire thing, in a very high-risk, high-contact industry (grocery).

In my state, until this week it's been almost impossible for someone to be tested unless they were both symptomatic and had other risk factors (contact, travel, etc.).

And even with only highly likely people being tested, negatives outnumber positives 12:1, and of those who test positive, less than 3% have died. The majority of fatal cases are in long term care facilities.

Now we've gone from 100 tests per day, to 1,200 tests per day, and the gap is growing wider.

I am also in the grocery business, and my territory covers 12 counties. One store I call on had an employee with COVID (early 20s and he recovered). Store also has another employee in quarantine through this week. County judge (head administrative official) in county near me had COVID, he recovered.

I will consider going back to SDC when I really see a decline in new cases in AR and MO, hopefully, this summer.

Branson Talk / NTSB Findings of the 2018 Duck Boat sinking
« on: May 01, 2020, 09:46:18 AM »
The NTSB released its findings this week about the Duck Boat sinking on Table Rock Lake in July 2018.
Here's a link to the findings: https://www.ky3.com/content/news/NTSB-releases-findings-for-whos-to-blame-in-duck-boat-tragedy-570023101.html
The safety board chairman said he thought the business could reopen if changes were made. In May 1999 the Hot Springs Ducks also had a Duck sink and that business did reopen and is still operating.

Not to put more pressure on SDC... but WOF just made their 2020 passes good through the end of 2021 (including add-one like dining, drink and FastLane).

I sure hope SDC does this.

Since it wasn't announced as final season in 2019 for It's a Wonderful Life, is this an after the first of the year decision? I know some folks liked IAWL but I am ready for a change. Not sure a World Fest Christmas is what I would have ever considered SDC would do.

I just checked, and it is gone from the website. I hope it is replaced with another show.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / 60th Jubilee Homecoming
« on: February 01, 2020, 11:03:03 AM »
I read in the winter edition of the Times about the 60th Jubilee Homecoming, April 30 -- May 3. During that time there will be performances by Branson performers. On May 2nd there is a High Noon Event in Echo Hollow (no details given), a Diamond Rio concert with fireworks that night, and a praise concert with the Martins on Sunday night, the 3rd.
Does anyone know more details about the High Noon Event or what Branson performers are participating or what is going on Friday night?   We attended all the activities for the 50th celebration but are trying to decide if the 60th is a must visit weekend since we have already seen Diamond Rio and the Martins at SDC several times.
