Went to SDC on Friday 12/16. No Dickens performances due to the large number of folks in the cast who were sick but you didn't learn this until you went to the Opera House and then went to a nearby food stand to get the scoop. There were no updates on the app. And due to low temps, most rides were not running so SDC sold $40 tickets yesterday (there was an update on the app about that). We were fortunate to get into the saloon show which we thought was better than the past couple of years.

Just heard that the park closed before 6 today due to the weather conditons. Wonder if it will open on Sunday?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Slow emergency response on 9/25
« on: September 26, 2016, 05:17:41 AM »
Went to the park for a few hours on Sunday 9/25. As we were preparing to load the tram to leave around 2 or so, a man fell to the ground and about 4 or 5 tram personnel were trying to attend to him and direct people away from walking by him. Not sure if the man had a seizure or fainted. He was propped up in a seated position and was totally unresponsive. The employees kept repeatedly calling on the radio for first aid help. The tram waited for about 10 minutes and finally pulled out. When we left there were still no medics on the scene, and the 2 tram personnel with the man seemed calm but frustrated. I hope the man is okay because he really looked bad. People on the tram were praying for him.

« on: September 10, 2016, 07:34:55 PM »
Last year we were able to go to all 3 nights of Country Music Weekend in Echo Hollow. Was just wondering if anyone had attended this weekend. If the weather cooperates we will be there Sunday night for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Browns Candy Factory remodel
« on: June 28, 2016, 08:25:48 AM »
Maybe this was mentioned earlier but I missed it -- the candy factory has been remodeled on the inside. New signs, new merchandise arrangement, just 1 register area. Really looked nice.

Just completed a survey about another new attraction. Concept 2 was shown first -- about a bucking and spinning ride based on riding a bull associated with the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show. Proposed names were Rodeo, Trick Rider, and Round Up. Most of the questions were about this concept. Then concept 1 was shown -- about an attraction where mining cars go out of control. No real questions about this attraction but was asked which concept I preferred based on reading about the concepts.

There were also the usual questions about how many times I had visited SDC in the past 12 months, was I a season pass holder within the last 3 years, etc.

Random Talk / Talking during shows
« on: May 15, 2016, 11:28:40 AM »
Last weekend at SDC we had folks around us who wanted to talk almost constantly during the bluegrass shows. Either they wanted to talk to the people with them or they wanted to talk on their cell phones.

Example, during one of the Nothin' Fancy shows, a couple came in after the show started and sat down next to a couple behind us. The 2 men started talking about how hard it was to get from show to show. Then 1 of them took out his cell phone and brought up the IMAX website. (I saw this when I turned around to see what was going on.) He then started talking to the other guy about the schedule at the IMAX theater and what films were the best. Several people shushed them but the guys kept on talking. Finally my husband turned around and asked them to please shut up because we wanted to hear the music and not them. At that point the guys and the women quit talking; the 4 of them got up and left before the show was over.

We went to see Moses Friday night at the Sight and Sound theater. Again we had people behind us who wanted to talk. One woman who seemed to have more Bible literacy than another kept explaining different points to her friend. At some point about 20 minutes into the production they finally quit talking.

I realize that we have all become comfortable talking about what's going on with what we are watching because we watch so much TV at home. And talking during performances seems to be acceptable at outdoor music festivals. But I sure wish people would be quiet during indoor performances and movies.

End of rant -- thank you for listening.

Was just looking through the SDC website to get info about Founders Weekend. Noticed that although the show debut took place on 4/7, the official grand opening night of Hits from the Hollow is on Friday, May 6th. The link below gives more info about the show. Looks like it is more like the shows that have been taking place on the Showboat Branson Belle. In addition to the musical groups, there is a dog act.

Has anyone been yet?

Construction/Rumors / New email survey rides and attractions
« on: February 26, 2016, 06:33:36 PM »
Got a new email survey from SDC (actually H2R this week). It was about rides and attractions -- what did I do in the past year. Some questions were about did you ride family rides, ride thrill rides, ride kiddie rides, go to music shows, attend festivals, eat at sit-down restaurants, shop, see craft demonstrations, go to Echo Hollow, and more. Then there was a section with questions about options for a new family coaster -- seats may or may not spin, 4 upside down loops, a drop at 70 mph. Also asked if I had purchased season passes within the past 2 years.

Anyone else get this survey?

A man from Republic MO has filed a lawsuit saying he was injured when he was locked into the Giant Barn Swing. Allegedly the bar crushed his left testicle and as a result of the injury, his left testicle had to be amputated. Incident supposedly took place in April but the park has no record of the accident.

If you were severely injured on a ride, wouldn't you immediately let an employee know?
