General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Christmas 2012 any info or rumors?
« on: October 08, 2012, 09:15:26 AM »
My husband and I are expecting a raise in the price of the passes. Good heavens gas prices are getting out of hand. :o And because of that food costs are skyrocketing.  :-\ Just to cover those costs will surely mandate a raise.  :'( I'm sure they'll do everything to keep any price hike to the bare minimum.  :)

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Season Pass Appreciation Days
« on: October 08, 2012, 09:10:44 AM »
Like sanddunerunner I was perusing the 2013 calendar and saw "Season Pass Appreciation Days" will once again be featured between BG&BBQ and the National Kids Fest. We were out of town at that time this year. Did anyone attend? If so did you use the additional ride times? Did you use the discounts? It sounds great and again I appreciate that SDC recognizes that pass holders are the backbone of the park. No other theme park does for their pass holders what SDC does. Much appreciated in this household!!!  ;D

sanddunerunner Whatever that opening weekend celebration holds it is sure to be special. SDC surprises me in so many ways with their creativity! We'll make sure to be there. We always spend the weekend closest to our anniversary in Branson and that weekend happens to be the one we were looking at. Woo hoo! Adding to the fun.  ;D

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Coaster Christmas 2012
« on: October 08, 2012, 09:00:25 AM »
Sent an email to a good friend who loves roller coasters as much as I do plus my daughter and son-in-law who are as addicted as I am. Thinking we will be signing up. Really love that we are offered this opportunity. As a season pass holder it's nice to see SDC recognizing that the fans would appreciate something so special. One of many reasons we support SDC and buy season passes.

Thank you for letting us know about this conference. Much appreciation!

Terrible. We watched it online and followed it through Facebook. So glad there were no major injuries. God bless the folks who lost everything. Our prayers are certainly with them.   :'(

Just booked a room at the Homestay Inn for tomorrow night. Very excited b/c I got our preferred room. Yes, it's true, we have a preferred room.  :D LOL Looking forward to a different time in Branson. We are going to do a "junking" trip. We'll run into "the City" of course. That is always a given.  ;D

At Homestay Inn we have always had clean rooms, friendly help and the FOUL language you speak of has been non-existent in our presence. The owner has been friendly, joking, laughing and respectful. I have recommended HOMESTAY INN for 2 years. Every single friend that has stayed continues to use Homestay Inn on a regular basis.  ;D

Is "EVERYTHING" the proper answer? LOL Making memories, cinnamon bread, roller coasters, the shops, the bird show at EH, the night show at EH, the festivals (all of them), my grandchildren playing in "Half Dollar Hollar" then getting their Pa (my hubs) to buy each of them a build-an-animal in the shop next to HDH, riding the "froggies" with my grandchildren, roller coasters, riding the train w/the grandkids. The list goes on and on so I won't bore you. As you can see we just scratched the surface. Looking forward to making new memories in 2012.

For my hubby it's Sullivan's Mill for the cinnamon bread then on to Brown's Candy Factory to get a free sample of whatever they're making that day. Truth be told we make several tracks a day through there. lol Then it's on to the taffy shop for him.

Depending on my health it's either straight to Wildfire or wandering the streets taking it all in. We go in and out of shops, stop to listen to music or story tellers. For us SDC is magical.

Someone on here said they'd love to be able to spend the night in The City.....we have had that same discussion many times. It's probably not feasible and that's why they build the cabins at the Wilderness Campground. At least we have a chance at the feeling.

The more I think about it the more I dont want the recipes from SDC. Because its not the bread alone that tastes fantastic. Its the bread with the people in the ozarks and the anticipation of rope drop. Its the skillet meal in the styrofoam bowl with the 5 ft skillet and the noise of happy guests. The ambiance that goes with eating the amazing food. I believe it would not taste the same should I make it at home even if I had the right ingredients. When ya make it at home its just dinner at home. The special sparkle is gone.

*APPLAUSE* Well said!

I am glad we can share out BAF's with anybody and they can get in.....

HOWEVER i wish there was a way to control the selling of BAF's! That is just WRONG!!  and it really irritates me ( actually  i have another word!)..

SORRY!!  Just makes me mad!!

climbing off the soapbox now.,...
deep breaths....
ok.
I am fine now.,   LOL!

I too get very angry when I see the BAF passes for sale on Craig's List or in the local papers. If for some odd reason we do not use them we make sure to bring them to the park and get others in. Most folks, if they believe you're willing to do that for a stranger, are grateful.

I would like to join you on that soapbox if that's ok with you! lol

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2012 Meet Ups.

My husband was seriously injured in an industrial accident Feb. 23rd. We had planned on being at The City this weekend. His face is now full of infection so our travel plans are on hold as they may have to go in and remove the titanium plates from his cheek and orbital lobe, clean out the infection, restructure the orbital lobe, cheekbone and jaw again then put in new titanium plates. Should the Lord heal this infection we WILL be there Saturday AND Sunday. Looking forward to going "home" again.

We are excited to get the 2012 season kicked off. We're ok with no new attractions this year. We love The City and are just glad we are able to walk through the gates once again. Frankly, I like the idea of taking the time to go through SDC and fix and update what is already there. We want our grandchildren to enjoy SDC as much as we have and our children have. Preservation is very important.

We will be staying at the HOMESTAY INN AND SUITES (417.336.2666). The owner is a member of sdcfans.com. The rooms are clean. The beds are comfy. We are now regulars. She has a special offer for members of this board. I hope she sees this post and will fill you all in on her newest acquisition and her rates - they are rates that no one can beat! If you want breakfast it's good, simple fare.

Just 2 more days folks! Woo woo. :) God bless and we hope to see everyone this year. Happy birthday to all of the March babies on the board. Hope the opening of Silver Dollar City helps you celebrate another year filled with smiles and blessings!

FYI: Sean Casey, the film maker who did the "Tornado Alley" movie for IMAX, will be in Branson at the IMAX Theater Friday-Sunday (March16-18) with the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle). IMAX is donating proceeds from "Tornado Alley" movie tickets to "Convoy of Hope" to help with the Branson clean-up and healing. An admirable act IMHO. Our 4 1/2 year old grandson is beside himself as he loves anything tornado. He thinks the TIV is pretty "cool". lol

Branson Talk / Re: Chosen Few

We adore Chosen Few. God chose to move them each into different ministries but the concerts will be such a blessing. Thank you God for giving this opportunity to see them again. A real treat.
