Markings by Dag Hammarskjold
The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury
Iceberg by Clive Cussler
The Secret of Excalibur by Andy McDermott

Takes me a long time to read because I wear glasses and have to use a powerful visor magnifier too.

Josh...your pictures are beautiful. Before we discovered SDC/Branson, we used to go camping up near Rocky MT. National Park in early Summer and in Fall when the trees were in color. We  always went horseback riding in Fall and could hear the elk bugle and if we were lucky ride into a herd... our friend from S.Dak. brought the horses, so it was easy to ride bareback into the elk herds or in with mule deer  just after the sun went down. Miss those days....but like SDC too.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Alcohol on SDC Grounds?
« on: September 28, 2011, 02:36:48 PM »
Yes FirstVisit....SDC is supposed to be a theme park, but it is getting more like an amusement park all the time.It was nice to see some of the old crafts  this Harvest Fest.
Alcohol: NO
Guns: No.....even though we have many pistols and rifles including Black Powder.

Hey Sandune.....you're really not that old to walk up cardiac hill are you? I usually walk up it, but Bob  skirts up it at an angle. It's hard for flatlanders to get used to HILLS.

Did they have Season Pass appreciation days this year? The Country Music  Weekend sounds nice, but the City is closed 3 days after  it  to prepare for harvest Fest......that's really going to mess up our vacation we usually take then. We'd only get to the City the 8-9 and the 13th. and leave the14th. Hopefully we can alter our VAC days.....we have to put in for them so early it's rediculous. The calendar is fairly full for next year already.

We usually give our BAF tickets to friends we know that are retired, they wouldn't get to go to SDC without them.

Violet even did a little clog dance for us. She is so amazing and like me  is visually impaired. I love that woman.

We had a great time in Branson Sept.10-16. We went to SDC for the opening day of Harvest festival. Saw the Lumberjacks and talked to them, since they were from WI. close to where we live. The sand sculpture guy was friendly to me, but not my hubby. talked to the lady doing chalk drawings....she was awesome. Most of the crafts were good especially watching Violet Hensley playing one of the fiddles she made......it's amazing how she came back after being ill quite a few years ago....hope to have her energy when I'm in my 90's.Showed her a picture of a log bird feeder my husband made out of birds eye pine......her daughter showed me a fiddle Violet made out of the same wood....it was great. We spent most of our days at theHomestead visiting and listening to the Pickers, Aunt Judy and Frisco Jack.Got some tips from Greg Bailey to help me learn to play my guitar (I think it's hopeless for a 60 some year old to learn). We went to the IMAX on Monday for The Ozark Legends Movie....it was good. Tuesday night we went to Shepherd of the Hills Drama and it was the best thing we ever saw in Branson ( talked to Terry Sanders after the show) always visit with him inSDC too. We attended the 9/11 tribute in SDC... it was moving......Nedra Culp sang an awesome  Star Spangled Banner. (nice to have someone know all of the words). All in all we enjoyed our time in Branson.

Sorry Parson....we missed seeing you Sat and Sun.....we are early risers and must have left Homestay before you went to breakfast..The only SDC'er we met was Sandune when we were here in June.

We always used to eat in SDC, but now we bring in something......the Bakery must use the same kind of mixes that most grocery and other bake shops use.... I used to like the cinnamon rolls, but now they are just like any other stores bakery only bigger.....I'm a baker that makes everything from scratch, so it's hard to find REAL BAKERY these days. Most of the other places to eat have only so-so food....the portions are smaller and of poorer quality than they used to be. SDC ian't the only place that food quality has gone down and prices gone up......most restaurants have the same problems. I guess a lot of people don't notice ,because   most people eat out and don't know what home cooked food tastes like.
