General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC Railroad
« on: August 02, 2011, 09:33:17 AM »
Yes, what is new?  Any chance of getting photos of all the locomotives lined up in the engine house/yard?  How about back of the house tours? Any more information on the consists (trains).  How many sets, are they identical, how often are cars added or subtracted.  Any plans to overhaul the train cars?   Last time I rode it appeared the wood on the cars has aged quite a bit.  I would love to see the Davenport back in service, a more "American" looking locomotive.

What is the condition of the suspension bridge in Beaver, Arkansas after the flood waters subsided?  Is it reopened, any damage?

I've searched the web and found a few sites, but I'd like to find a few pictures of the Showboat being dismantled and hauled away. Is there a ride grave yard somewhere on the WOF property? Was it hauled off as debris to the landfill?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: NEW SDC TIMES IN THE MAIL!
« on: July 25, 2011, 08:36:55 AM »
I (we) never received out Times, so I called this morning to make sure the information they had was corrected.  Everything was.  However my teenage daughters (adult pass holders) are the season pass holders and SDC said they don't solicit to anyone under 18 years old, hence no Times.   They were very polite and friendly as they explained their policy.   SDC offered, with my permission, to send a copy out to us. Should get it in a few days!!!

We bought our teen daughters adult season tickets on 03/20/11 on our visit to the park.  We haven't received anything via mail since, not that they had anything to send until now.  Short of calling them, how would I know if our contact information was entered correctly into the system that day?  I gave them my email also and haven't received emails either.  In years past, receiving the SDC times seemed to be hit and miss, with other family members receiving it at their address but not always at mine.  I remember it coming late also.

Too bad you couldn't go on-line and register your season pass number and create an account, similar to my grocery store loyalty card.  Good idea?

I read this somewhere else and thought I'd post the link here.  Sounds like a win/win for Cedar Fair and maybe Worlds of Fun.   Anyone have any other information.

That was a great video!  Anyone have pictures of the boats during the removal process? Where they taken out in large sections or scrapped in place?  Did they (debris) go to the landfill or were they sold?  Is the front gate still closed? What happened to plans for new front gate? Anyone with insider info? Is there a lack of theming there?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Tram Ride
« on: April 03, 2011, 08:54:05 PM »
We were there Sunday of opening weekend.  I liked the trams over the buses.  I feel it takes too long to load and unload the buses, just my opinion.  I also noticed that the trams seem to be under powered on some of the inclines. May be they could run shorter trams but more of them?  Why don't they theme the tram stops a little more? More landscaping, some signage, something to up the suspense??

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2012 Project
« on: March 25, 2011, 07:42:01 PM »
We LOVE the park, but the parking lots look like......... like some strip mining or rock quarry project.  The lots are ugly.  Where the RV parking is an example of leveling out an area and paving it flat. Please put in some trees and landscaping, planters, creative signs, banners or something.  How about a picnic area, or grass patches to walk a pet that often make the trip (in mild weather). There are miles of steel guard rails, how about using landscaping blocks walls instead of all that guard rails.  Look at the lots in Google maps they look so bare.  Just my two cents!

Did anyone catch the Amtrak train racing through downtown? Obvious stock film added for effect. Too bad Branson doesn't have Amtrak service.  Why were they racing to the airport when they could have just caught that Amtrak train? (oh it was in the script) LOL.  Weak film, great positive values presented and great photography.

As discussed in the past, how about some pics from the steam shop area with all the locomotives in one shot.  It would seem the shop area of an 1800's RR would be as interesting area to view as are the other great craft/trade operations through out the park.   How's the rumored restoration of the Henry Ford locomotive coming?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Pets inside SDC
« on: July 11, 2010, 06:52:18 PM »
When we checked in a Treasure Lake last week we were given a map to our camp site, on the map was this ad.  We too have traveled with pets and in the past had taken our dog into SDC, but that was around 12 years ago.  I didn't have time to stop by this doggy daycare/spa,
but I believe it is close to Dockers.  Has anyone used them?  I (my dog) may get the opportunity in a few weeks.  Has anyone used them or can make a recommendation? Thanks!!

Branson Talk / Half price tickets
« on: July 09, 2010, 08:06:17 AM »
It seems every where I turn all I see are ticket outlets, ticket booths, etc.  How does this work?  Are these outlets all associated with a timeshare visits?  Does it help or hurt a theater by purchasing tickets at one of these booths?  Has anyone used these and do they have a favorite?  Or should I avoid them like I have?  Thanks?

Other Parks / Re: Disney in Arkansas?
« on: May 16, 2010, 04:16:07 PM »
WOW, REALLY?  If they own the property, could someone post the county where, check the tax rolls, and if it's true, see how many acres?  I'm sure the number of acres involved would determine if a park would be possible.  Without some sort of proof, just a rumor!

But imagine the possibilities. There are a number of successful parks in and around Orlando. Couldn't SDC and Disney park compliment each other? Since HFEC has grown to become a entertainment company with properties nationwide, I would think SDC would receive a lot of reinvestment by the company. It would be great for the Branson area, it too could experience a another rebirth of sorts.  Come on Disney!!
