I have to disagree about anything being smooth with the way they have scrwed up parking so bad. As a matter of fact I am drfting a letter to HFE to get my money back on the season passes I purchased for next year. It's really simple.

1. As parking lot C & D and Lower C empty, put cars there. Yuor biggest people mover can only goto the C turn around?? Stupid stupid stupid.
2. If you are going to have to spend the money to alter parking make sure the trams can get there. Parking lot F is a JOKE!!!!!
First, using school busses is too slow a difficult for loading and unloading, they are NOT made for adults especially older people. Then you throw the strollers and small kids in.
Second the trams load fast and haul tons of people maybe they should be able to goto parking lot F alas someone at SDC isn't smart enough to figure this out.
Finally if you are going to build a parking lot, park people in it only, and not be able to 1000 people to thier cars in a timely fashon it would make sense to me to make it SAFE to WALK to. Talk about a negligent liability.

I am going to put my money toward CF Plat pass for next year. You know the high price pass that lets you into all the CF properties for free that never cost that much more than the all cities passes. Oh and I forgot, WOF and KI are getting new coaters next year... NOT SDC...

Kind of off subject but, does anyone remember the first couple of years and how limited the access was in the park? You definitely could not go everywhere. I also rememebr the snow machine and and the sled rides.

I don't men to be a buzzkill here, BUT... to be honest with you, I don't see attendance numbers getting any better next year. Look at CF, they are posting profits left and right, not to mention builing a B&M Hyper at KI and a new Wodie at WOF. Even Six flags is expanding. It bugs me that HFE is having troubles in a market that they seem to be the only real ones loosing in.

I just don't see thinkgs getting any better for them. Don't get me wrong, I like the parks, even buy season passes every year, but something is very wrong..  :)

BTW, if they want another train, there is an od stem engine posted on the bulletin board at the Men's center at the Springfield Downtown YMCA.

I don't understand is how the HFE parks are doing so poorly and chains like CF can hand out distributions to thier shareholders. This is pretty sad and means they are serverly out of touch with their customer base. Not to mention out of whac on some of thier marketing. Here are some examples from several of thier parks:

1. Celebration City, what kind of park is this? For they longest time they have touted "have fun at SDC durring to the day CC is the night spot". What is SDC typical closing time? 7-8pm in the summer, CC cities is 9pm sometimes 10pm. So I leave SDC at 7pm spend the :30 minute drive to CC (if you can ake there in that time becuse of traffic). That leaves me n hour and a half at CC. Most of the go-cart track in Branson are open until at least Midnight. This has been my big compalint with CC since day one. It is supposed to be a nighttime destination and they really aren't open at night. Even WOF and SF have midnight madness why couldn't they do this here?

2. How much expansion have they done since opening worth talking about? 1 Ride that they bought from a closed park? You could say they added a ride in 2007 but they took one out in 2006. Too keep repeat visitiors interested you have have to keep upating and changing. Without this why would someone want to travel here from KC or STL?

3. Let's raise prices and take away from the visitor. My example of this was the fact that an all cities pass would get you in to Dollywood for free in 2007. This was reduced to a measly discount in 2008. If I purchase a CF Platinum Pass for $150-$160 depending on which park you buy from, or a SF Pass for $60 not only do I get into ALL the parks, I also get waterpark access. FYI My all cities pass this year was $140 yeah they are open for Christmas, but that is only 1 park and it's really that big of a deal? (By the way Six Flags in Dalls is open for Christmas).  My point is all cities should mean all parks all locations especaily since they are charging as much as CF does and they own the Roller Coaster Caiptol of the World.

4. Let's pick on White Water for a moment. Where do I begin on this one. Sheesh, the cement at the wave pool and lazy river are crumbling, bad. If you noticed the park's cement areas look like they were painted by a 3 year old with ADHD. Dive in Movies and concerts used to be a BIG draw, they have been gone for several years. They took out the tall water slide only to replce it with the same thing only a little taller, yeah I know they added the racing slides. You know the ones they spent a bunch of money to put timers on this year they that don't ever use... Other than that the only other "new" ride they have done was to take out a rapids and body speed slide and put in 2 prosildes. Looks like a downgrade to me considering there is one less item there and you have put in sldes similar to what you already had.

Ok, I could keep going on about this and everyone here knows what I am talking about. Don't get me wrong here I like the parks and have always bought passes. MY point is they should have been expanding in the "good" years so they could keep the numbers up in the bad. It's my opinion that CC hs been stagnat since they year after they openend it and never had a real direction of wether or not they wanted a kiddie park with limited attendance or a World Class theme park. I have the same opinion of SDC but the question is, do they want to cater to the much older generation that can't walk up the hil, or appeal to the < 50 crowd. We have become a world of adrenaline junkies. My fear is that they have waited too long to make some important decisions and unless the economy turns around the whole corp may be doomed.

Just think of it this way, we may all know what the Officail decision is in 1 week. After all if the "new" concept is opening next eason and will have a season pass available for entry, they go on sale Nov 1....

If they try to jack the prices way up for 2 parks, I will go without. May do that anyways becuse I want to take a midwest coaster tour again next year since all the other parks have new rides/coasters from this year and next.

I have to reccomend the lamp light tour to EVERYONE. It was the best cave tour I have been on in quite some time. The group is only 20 to 30 people and they actully stop at places and tell stories about the cave. You get alot more history, ghost stories, etc... It was a very pleasant suprise.

Plan on it taking close to 2 hours though..

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: what is sdc coming to?
« on: October 21, 2008, 08:51:01 PM »
I have a few comlaints sume are are kind of stupid others well founded... I plan on sending them a letter at them end of the year.

First, and foremost, if you are going to have people directing customers going to certain lots, even if they are new, you probably need to take the staff on a tour. I had an experice a few weeks ago where and employee had no idea how the new lots were laid out. I can't imagne I was the only one with this problem.

Second, the season pass. The switch to bar codes is a plus, but it needs to take the final step. The passes need to be a photo pass that has a printed photo. People in the park will tell you it's cost prohibitive, but if a place as small as HW can do it so can HFE. You can use off the shelf software and purchase a relatively inexpensive zebra printer to print on a card with art already on it. It really isn't that expensive. I hate having to worry about taking the pass with ID if I am going to ride water rides or even White Water. They also need to reinstate free admission to Dollywood with an All-Cities pass. SF and CF both have passes that get you into multi-parks.

Bring back the old Saloon Show. It's been gone for quite a while, and it was based on history...

Thats my 2 cents worth.

Depressing indeed. How about laughing stock... Kee p in mind they are hosting the ACE convention, and with no new coasters?? This will not bode well...

I would like to see the guns re-worked... They don't work very well at all. would be nice to use technology similar to the of SDSS at SFSL...

White Water Discussion / Re: White Water's 2009 Project

Land locked?? How about this, if the land behind the lot is available, take it.. But what about all that land next door?? The Mexicain Restraunt and Hotel and the old Monster Truck track.. Lots of room for parking there.

I would like to see a tornado. Someone has a "dark disco" version of it maybe seaworld... Do something similar. They really need to do some serious concrete work on the lazy river and wave pool, it was pretty bad this year. So was the paint job.

I also say, bring back the dive in movies and concerts.

Construction/Rumors / Re: New Coaster???
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:02:12 AM »
I would like to see 2 Major coasters:

1. A woodie built by Gravity Group
2. A B&M Flyer

Both of these would be so easy to theme. What sucks is the woodie would be better as Wildfire but oh-well. Build a massive out and back woodie with numerouse dips, dives, 90 degree banked turns, etc.. Second the flyer can go on the flying machine concept, I like the way the Vekoma restraints fit better and the fact you are laying down, but this following the flying achine theme would be awesome.

I think the woodie needs to be in a section where the petting zoo is, at least that is where I always heard the woodie would be if it were bult. I know they have to be careful about building, if you ever take the cave lamplight tour you will find that thunderation shut down part of the exisitng cave exploration.

I really think they need to get something done for ACE next year, ESPECIALLY since WOF who is co-hosting is getting a new woodie, not to mention the fact that I read an article where HFE promised more than enough coasers for the ACE members,

I think it's time for something big, a B&M flyer would be cool, but then again that could play some really cool themeing for SDC too. Even a woodie from Gravity Group would be killer in both parks.. CC would be awesome with a woody like Hades.

They need to do something, especailly with WOF getting a new Woody, SFSL adding a new racing slide, HW adding a new Chute de Cute thats 130ft tall. It's my uderstanding that attendance was up at the CF parks this year and they even posted a profit. It's my understanding that Amusement Parks are supposed to do weel in this economic climate becuse people will goto the local park more instead of travel...

Ok so here is something Random, Roaring Falls before it came to Branson, the last year Geauga Lake was open... What killer vaction.
