Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2020 Project (Thread #2)

Unless it’s talking about how many foreign parks he’s visited or NWA (two topics most don’t seem to care about on here) good luck having a real conversation, let alone a discussion with him.

This small community is allowing "the select" to bully and insult others on a regular basis.   These incidents always have a common denominator and usually the posts are removed until it happens again with nothing being said.  This is not right or welcoming to anyone, this does not encourage free communication or a good exchange of ideas and frankly should not be allowed.  I am surprised and wonder if the adults on this board would encourage there children to communicate like this?  I hope not.   Every crowd must have someone who speaks up. Not a lot of messages posted daily anymore, I wonder how many have left because of this repeated childishness?

Moderator put a " Like" button on this board and it may assist in this situation.  Silent, passive feedback is a good thing.  It also lets you know what behavior is and is not appreciated by the other members.

In that last post if mine I advocated for a flying theater featuring the Ozarks.

This would be a great addition to SDC.  The cost if done right would surpass the new coaster but could be marketed to everyone, young and old.  This system has shown itself to be a winner at other parks and they are using non IP footage.  Also this would be an indoor ride system, something SDC needs to kick up a notch.  They are relying more on the rides these days and could certainly use something that could keep running in poor weather.

Was in the park today and had zero wait at all of the kids rides in the morning.

Only issue that we had was a lunch at Wagon Works Grill when the apple slices for my 2 kids meals were about 5 days past their best by date and were slimy. When I took them back to the counter all of the ladies seemed annoyed and tried to give me new bags that had the same date. I finally just asked for apple sauce instead. They didn't seem to care at all that the apples were bad... they took the bags that they offered and I declined right back in the bin on the service line.

Actually this is serious and I may have spoken to someone about this.   Food safety is almost specifically centered around 2 groups, elderly and children as they suffer quicker in situations when things go wrong.  A overlooked date is one thing but not when you are serving those 2 groups.  SDC employees tossing them back into the "community" bin is really a bad move both for food safety and plain optics.  Not a good situation.

Personally for me after being a theme park junkie for a long time I am gravitating to other forms of entertainment. Concerts, Trips abroad , National parks, Hiking and the mountains peak my interest more than a manufactured environment. Lots of people in my family who visit SDC several times a year have only been 1 time this year. They are also reevaluating their yearly Christmas trip.  I have not been 1 time this year yet and will probably pass till 2020.

I am doing the same, no trips yet and none planned.  I may purchase a season pass next year again, I will see what is on the schedule.  I think that TT has been a success but I think closing a part of the park is a hard thing for them to overcome.  Disney has mass and with the number of attractions they can get away with this move but SDC maybe no so much.  I am looking forward to the Pumpkin/Halloween festival they are starting this year, I wonder what kind of boost it will give to the numbers.  Halloween is a huge draw for other parks, SDC seems to be trying to keep Halloween out of it but I see by the decor previews it is definitely peeking though. ( Spiders, Black Cats) My bet is they will stop being afraid of it if the money starts rolling in.

This summer numbers seem lower than usual.  Does it feel that way in the park?

They did a Facebook live this afternoon. They say the announcement on tuesday will talk about the new ride, the new tree, pumpkin nights, and “other surprises for 2020”.  I think the guy did a good job with the live video I just wish his clothing would have fit a little better.

I watched and agree

Okie , It could be he is still in one of the shows, and waiting table during other shows.  This is very possible scenario..

One of the challenges of the boat is they really dont know what kind of crowd to expect and often "call off" or "call in" waitstaff.   Reservations can come in quickly and last minute.   He may be picking up extra $$ from the waiting shift.  Seems smart to me if he is already working there, it would not conflict with his "other job".  He may make some good tips and cash is a good thing!

Planing ahead is a good idea and you have been given great advice above.  I will mention that the week you choose was probably the best you could.  I go that weekend yearly and always have great light crowds.  I do not go on Saturday and would recommend you skip it if possible.  The numbers on Saturdays are crushing if the weather is nice .
The crowds dont come on strong till after Thanksgiving.  You should have a good time!

Interested in the numbers change with Midnight Madness.  Swoosh what are they saying about people count this year? How is it looking to them so far?

Other Parks / Troubles for Disneyland and WDW in the news.
« on: July 13, 2019, 07:02:49 AM »

Have any of you watched the issues that have arisen in DL over the new additions Galaxys Edge?  Seems the park did not receive the crowds they expected for the billion dollar Star Wars addition, infact when the cracked open the new land June first the bottom dropped out of the park.  Attendance is way down and they are trying to lure folks in.  The internet is a buzz over displeasure for several things DL has done, raised the tickets reported to be 150 per day now as prime time ticket prices, they have built new parking structures but are charging 38 per day to park.   Disneyland had also blocked many of the passholders for fear of punishing crowds but these have been lifted and they have not recouped.  Walt Disney World is opening their Galaxys Edge next month and the hotel reservations are very soft from reports in Disney.

Did Disneys new land fail this hard?  Did the world of Star Wars clash with the formula at Disneyland?  Did Disney finally hit the ceiling with the entrance fee and the audience rebelled?  Whatever the issue its interesting to watch it unfold.
Any opinions?
It may just be time to book a Disney Trip.........  I bet you will get a good deal in a month or so if WDW addition also flops.

I agree 100% but believe in staying positive.  I believe people will not be pleased over the removal of FITH.

I just wrote five paragraphs describing all of the reasons I despised the new show, Reuben's Swashbuckling Adventure before deleting it all.  I just can't write about it without picking it apart and putting it down.  While the actors and crew do everything they can to make best of it, the show needs to go back to where it came from.  I DO NOT EVER need to see this one again.

I would have loved to have read that.
Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion.  You have a right.

If any of the PTB want my opinion, they are free to ask for it, and I will freely critique their little show in detail.

You tease.  Do it.

When you are displeased you should voice your opinion.  That is the only way to bring the train back onto the rails.  If you dont say anything the PTB will just smile and forge ahead.  Honesty is not the same as being a jerk.
DO NOT FORGET: this is a business, you are the person making the deposits.

You can watch the attendance thread and get a rough idea.  Sanddunerider and I are trying to keep that updated (when we remember)

Great work and effort guys, we will be able to make a predictable calendar with that info.

Very interesting article. I cannot wait to experience SW:GE someday. Interesting thoughts on not including the score within the land. At WWoHP, the score is used throughout the land and it does not make me feel as if I am not in a "real place." So, it is interesting that Disney chose to omit such an iconic piece of Star Wars.

When I was a young man the sounds of Silver Dollar were much louder than they are today.  Ride music, background music through the speakers, live performers scattered in the park ect.   Maybe its just my old ears but I dont feel as much of this is still around.  Maybe they dont want to play bluegrass anymore?  I get the points of this article as music really effects me.  Seems like a big misstep for Disney.  Wondering if they are waiting for the new ride?  Maybe they will bring in the music for the unveiling of the masterpiece they claim they have built.  I also look forward to seeing this in person.  I am not the target audience but I really enjoy the atmospheres Disney excels at creating.
