It was terribly in need of a paint job. Here is is the end of August, and I guess having those structures over the lake and being wet all the time from the water from the lake and the kids squirt guns take their toll on it.
I was there today 8/22/10 and the structure itself is in real need of some cosmetic TLC.
I was sitting on a bench directly to the side looking at the kids thinking the beams on the thing are rusting.
Ans this is in the dry area.
Its great for the kids but they really need to do something about the color and the paint.

Went today 8/22/10 and Powder Keg was playing bluegrass the first 10 min in line then the final 30 min there was no music.
I thought the bluegrass was a nice return but letting it fall silent when there is a 40 min wait and its hot is a little lax.  I wonder if those Powder Keg employees are the ride ops that have been there a while. Whatever the deal is they are pleasant but they either play the wrong music or they play nothing...
I don't understand.
It was a great day at SDC

I am gonna call in the citizen son this point.
I believe I was told that this was something they were thinking about at one time.
Some sort or people moving " contraption" I am not sure if I saw this is a survey or was told about it from a friend who was in management a few years back.

With all the land that they own they built towards 76.  I would have thought they would have been concerned with keeping the park hidden.
The only expansion that became visable from 76 is the GE.  They were heading twords the fire department and not away, I think that alone makes sense.  The land beyond Wildfire and below Powder Keg are very steep. if you consider the land behind FITH its fairly flat, I believe they will utilise some of the employee parking lot at some time in the future, they are going to have to make some adjustment for the employee parking anyway. I think they park employees in 3 spots right now.

I understand what you are saying about the fans being themed.
However, I would be interested to see if that fan is still there or if it was a need during this oppressive heat.
I would quickly over look a plastic fan when its 115 heat index, I mean you gotta do what you gotta do.
If they don't have a themed fan or they cant get one quick enough, in this heat,  I say let them plastic blades glisten for all to see.
But yes, make the fan fit is ASAP.
Now, is it still there?

Frankly I think you guys really have some gaul to complain about a fan in a dining room.
THe temp in this area has just now dropped under 100 for how many weeks straight?
You would deny someone working a fan for the sake of theme?
Please, think about what you are saying.
I guess we need to request they turn off all of the air in the park as that is out of theme......
Think about this people, this is not rock music someone is playing in the park, this is civilization.

I think the employees at SDC do a better job with the guests........  and I think the lines for rides move a little faster at DW

I agree about the rides running faster but on the employees....
Folks 99% of the employees used to go out of there way to please you, put a smile on your face, On my recent trip to Dollywood I found the employees to be nicer as a whole.  I know I will probably be lynched for this but SDC employees are not feeling the love, they are underpaid? why yes they are.  They work long days in hot conditions?  oh yea.
But you can tell the " Old Folks" from the new employees.

I called SDC the other day because I had not received my Pasttimes fl yer, I actually called them 3 times over a 4 week period.  They transfer ed me to a woman who said " well I mailed it.....I don't know what you want me to do ?" I replied ' please mail it again and check the address.....thank you'.
I get more of this as time goes on, maybe we are to hurried in these times and maybe they are unappreciated.

I bet it was a different deal when the family was still there, it does make a difference to be able to look at your boss and not just one of the cogs in the machine.

I will digress, DW is giving SDC a real run for their money.

A SDC man at heart DOllywood is forging ahead at all times, they have more to do as far as rides and activities.
SDC has a little more in retail but because interest in retail is floundering I think Dollywood favors todays travelers.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused as to why I'm on the email list and signed up to receive surveys, and yet I've not been sent a survey link for several surveys now

I think they send the surveys out to a demographic, I used to get them as well but haven't in a while. I have have had a seasons pass for 20 years straight.
You would think I would receive them but.............

I wouldn't mind if they unveiled a new coaster that wouldn't even open until the 2012 season.

I would find it suprizing if they announced something commming in 2 years.  The RB was pushed back because of funds and expectation. From all the reports I am reading theme parks and water parks are fairing well this season.
I look for the addition to open in 2011.

Branson Talk / Re: First Rap Show In Branson Featuring Nelly
« on: August 17, 2010, 08:32:15 AM »

I don't like rap at all but if they can put on a clean show and they keep it in line I welcome the business to the area.
There are hotels, restaurants and shops that need a injection on cash.  Drive up and down the strip, its looking rough out there.  The buss trips have put a shank into the sides of most of the businesses in Branson.
If they can create new shows for the (drive in) younger generation and they aren't drug and sexual fiestas then let em rip.
Branson needs the money.

Well its about time, we need something to talk about here.  The season is getting short and there isn't much action up on these boards right now.
Heck, after midnight madness ended that left a big hole in my constructive criticism heart.    :o

Seriously I do look forward to some exciting news, the river battle is great but its not up my alley, I hope this is a cold friendly ride. ( If its a ride at all )

As I understand Walt Disney used to go into his parks and walk, and pick up trash....etc.
Maybe the directors of SDC should spent a mandatory day at the park, out of the offices Actually IN the park watching what people are doing, what is crowded and what isn't.
Numbers only tell you so much.
Sometimes a multiple choice question is damning because of the options.

Back in my early days of coming to the City, I remember there being kids activity of trying to lite a match with a hatchet or driving nails in one strike being done on the main square

I dont know if you have been to MM but I wouldnt go near that place if you armed those kids with hatchets and hammers....

It may be a waste to use that only at night because of the heat.
Good observation.
