They will do that if you ask and then you will be on the list.

I enjoy all the flashbacks.  I was a young teen then and very much into SDC.  Its fun to be reminded.

I am a single guy and have always gotten one.
Now as a little switch I have always bought a pass for a friend of mine to go with, maybe that makes a difference.
If you don't get the paper just call them, they will always send one out to you.

I like the build a bear idea.  Thats crafty and kind of more inline with SDC.

Not much longer. Are all the rides going to be open on opening day?

They really need to add another bathroom in that area.  With the kids congregating in that area and the only restrooms are the small ones up at the Thunderation.

If they set for 2-3 years without usage, they would need rebuilt/refurbished or even modified anyway

Exactly my thoughts  Sanddunerider

I read this as well.  I wouldn't get to upset or concerned.
I would look at it like this, those trains have been sitting and losing there value to the company.  IF the other parks need them for extra parts or just extra trains,  send them on.  It makes more sense to use what is sitting idol than to invest in new parts or trains.  They have plenty of time to purchase new ones and possible the technology will improve when they finally get around to doing something with CC.  If I was in there shoes I would do the same.

Smacked a kid you didn't know in the mouth for using foul language at the park.    fine  $100    ( or awarded $200)  Not sure which.

Great pictures.
I remember the year the Diving Bell opened, I was maybe 9 or 10.  At that time my Mom would let my brother and I explore on our own for a few hours at a time at the park ( this was the late 70's)   She always took my little brother into the DB and he would cry and cry thinking the thing was really under water and he was gonna die.......my Mom has since past but I wonder sometimes if she thought it was a little funny and liked to get him all worked up.  :)
It was a wonderful time at SDC, it was still kind of a smaller place with a more homey feel to it.
Thanks Rube for sharing these pictures, it brings me back to a great time in my childhood.
Keep em coming ....

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Operating Dates
« on: February 20, 2011, 02:06:09 PM »
SDC will not operate when historically the crowds are not there.
I think you are talking about the time of year that school is starting.
I have been at SDC on a Christmas evening and they closed the park up 2 hours early, I was shocked.
The shop keeper meet me at the door as I was trying to go into the Christmas store and told me as he locked the door, " They will not lose money"  Now to be fair I think there were 50 people in the park at the time, I mean it was completely dead.  THey also did not give out free vouchers to come back, that I was very suprised at.

You know I forgot the " First " thing I do when I get to the city is to walk through the first Bakery right after the
turnstyles.  Rarely do I start the pig out at that point but I do love to smell and look.
