General Silver Dollar City Talk / How bad is Memorial Day weekend?
« on: April 20, 2019, 08:08:02 PM »
I've wanted to give Bluegrass and BBQ a shot for a long time, and due to my work schedule it looks like the Saturday and Sunday of that weekend are the only days I could go. Obviously it'll be busy, but I have a few questions for anyone who has gone to SDC during that weekend in the past:
1. Should I expect crowds to be on par with or worse than an average OTC Saturday in December? Imagining ride lines are longer of course.
2. Do the evening hours run roughly like Moonlight Madness (at least, the MM of a few years ago) where most things shut down around 7 and it's basically just the rides running until 10 PM?
3. Are there any notable food items for the festival beyond what I would expect (ribs, brisket, etc)?

Any insight is appreciated.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / SDC Entertainment Schedule Posted!

...Well, not everything.  The resident entertainers are not on the schedule yet.  BUT the Family Spring Break Entertainers, the Saloon show & GAC Nights, and World Fest performers all have times up.  The schedules are available through the end of World Fest!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Why not an opening festival?
« on: February 16, 2014, 12:51:52 PM »
Does anyone know why Silver Dollar City opens and runs nearly a month without a Festival?  I think the Festivals bring out the best in the park and gives it a variety that I wish more parks would emulate, and since I'm not from the area, I like to plan my visits around them.  I plan visits during school breaks, and like many others, my Spring Break falls in March.  Dollywood runs its Festival of Nations right off the bat. Even though I like Silver Dollar City more, I always choose Dollywood over SDC during Spring Break simply because they have a Festival going on and more options as a result (they also usually have better hours, Festival or not).  I'm sure I'm not the only one in that position.  So why the hesitation to open each year with a bang?
