Random Talk / Silly make believe ride names.
« on: July 17, 2010, 09:33:15 PM »
This is pretty self explanatory, but allow me to 'splain: Simply make up names for imaginary rides, post, and let the hilarity begin. I'll start with two of my faves: The "Vomitron". And the ever popular "Barfovator". Obviously, I don't take well to spinning and g forces. Aaaand...BEGIN!!

Random Talk / Home defense shotgun advice?
« on: July 17, 2010, 12:15:17 PM »
Now not that I EVER want to shoot anybody in self defense, but in these times of extreme crime and daily home invasions, I find it wise to invest in some defensive firearms. I am not a gun nut, but I do own a few. Mostly world war two rifles and a 9mm pistol. I was thinking of a short, home defense 12 gauge. I'd love to find a used Remington 870, but those are hard to find and a bit more expensive than my budget will allow right now. Academy Sports has a Harrington and Richards (H&R) home defense 12 gauge 5 round, 18 " barrel pump action for $189.00 brand new. I was wondering if anyone has had one, or had an opinion on it. The price is certainly right, but I wonder about the quality, and whether or not the gun has a tendency to jam. I've read some good things about it, but thought I'd run it past you good people. Again, I NEVER want to have to fire a weapon at another human being, but if someone kicks your front door in, they are probably not coming in to play checkers. Hope everyone's having a great day.

Random Talk / Antique photos-a-palooza.
« on: July 10, 2010, 10:22:15 PM »
Hey all. Today, my wee li'l family took an outing to the small town of Jenks, Oklahoma. We've been there several times wandering through the antique shops. There were quite a few very old photo albums. The oldest being from a post civil war era family. I carefully flipped through every single page of all of the picture albums I found. Some were just loose photos of various people doing various things at various places. One even showed Mount rushmore being carved. I can't help but be mesmerized by looking at those people in a time far away from today, smiling and posing by the family model T. Or a young man dressed in a military uniform from a bygone era. Imagining what that day was like for them is very interesting for me. Knowing that probably all of those people have passed on reminds me of how short life is. It was a fun, nostalgic day. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has the same yearning to see photographs of days long past. Oooooor am I just a freaky weirdo.

Ozark Marketplace / Not really a site, but...
« on: July 10, 2010, 10:25:40 AM »
Well, I dont really have anything to sell, but I do have a link to my music page on myspace. It's http://www.myspace.com/wehrmachtsound. I'd invite everyone to visit and let me know what I need to do to improve, or maybe what they'd like to hear. I've even thought about writing and recording a song in tribute to Silver Dollar City. I think that would be a heckuva challenge. Ideas? Suggestions? Also, if any musicians in the Tulsa area is wanting to get together and start a music project, I'm certainly open to the idea. That is all. As you were.  ;D

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Retired ride graveyard?
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:30:39 AM »
Hey everyone, I was just wondering what happens to the rides and signs when they are retired or closed? Rube Dugans diving bell, for instance. Was is simply disassembled? Or is there a "graveyard" of sorts where these things can be found? I'm just curious. Y'all have a great day.
