General Silver Dollar City Talk / Turnstiles
July 05, 2013, 03:45:51 PM
When I visited Dollywood last weekend I noticed they had new turnstiles this year. Has SDC gotten new ones too? The ones at Dollywood have LCD screens one that faces the operator and tells them what they scanned like "one day admission child" or "season pass" and the other faces the guest and says messages like "welcome to Dollywood" and when the operator scans the pass or ticket "have a great day!". I must say they were pretty cool.

I was on Yahoo & the article was "Funniest roller coaster photos" I clicked on it & it took me to the Ellen Degeneres Show website. I love her show! While I was scrolling through I saw a picture of riders on Powderkeg. They may be featured on the show, who knows? I already have a it fixed on the picture. Take a look here..

I know that SDC has removed some rides over the years. Which attraction above would you like to see return. If there is an attraction that is not mentioned above, feel free to comment and tell us the name and why you want it to return.

December 30, 2010, 02:15:27 PM
Since today is SDC's final day of the 2010 season, what do you hope happens in 2011. For example what would you like to see happening at the festivals, or maybe something on park like more boats at American Plunge or Lost River so lines can move faster in the summer. Please Post!  :)

I was browsing on the website under the accessability page and on there they had a picture that said Welcome to our City! But, in the background you can see on the grist mill it says Dollywood Grist Mill!

Here's the Link - I thought that was pretty funny

2012 - Possible New Coaster - Rumor Only - (11/15/10) The 2012 new coaster rumors for Dollywood are starting to kick in once again, this time claiming that the project, wherever it will go, may be big enough that they will have to break ground and in with serious construction on it by June or July 2011.
(10/27/10) Bad news time... as a trusted Screamscape source tells us with confidence that Dollywood is not in talks with S&S for anything other than the Barnstormer right now, so all those dreams of tasty S&S coaster projects (El Loco, PowderKeg, a 4th Dimension Coaster) you all have been dreaming about just went up in smoke... for now at least.  Still... Dollywood is in need of a new coaster in the near future anyway so something has to be in the works with some one. Maybe the Premier Rides rumor will pan out...
(10/26/10) The latest Dollywood rumors suggest that the park is toying around with a couple of ideas for new coaster projects for 2012. Apparently they've asked S&S and Premier for a few different ideas for their next coaster, which to me says that they may be looking into something with a launch. Given the popularity of S&S's PowderKeg at Silver Dollar City, it could be that Dollywood may be hoping to add a similar ride to their playbook. With all the focus going to the back end of the park for the last several years, I'm hearing that they are looking to breathe some new life into some of the more older areas that could use a little new traffic like near the train station, or in Jukebox Junction near the car ride, or perhaps along the hillside where the Mountain Slidewinder sits. Again, no plans are final yet... though I would suppose they would try to narrow it down very soon, perhaps at IAAPA in November.

It was updated as of November 15th! Hope they do get a new coaster

Dollywood Discussion / Dollywood trip report
November 14, 2010, 01:18:57 PM
Although I don't have any pictures right now, I will say I'm exhausted. The park was so packed yesterday, there were no parking spaces left in the parking lot, people were parking in fields and everything. I will try to get some pictures later.

On SDC's website it says that the RiverBlast will be open at Christmas! It says you won't get wet, you will just float down the river and take in the Christmas Lights. The ride is listed at the very bottom of the ride and attractions page here's the link.

Random Talk / Your Memories of As the World Turns
October 06, 2010, 08:41:26 PM
I would like to take the time to honor my favorite daytime soap As the World Turns which has aired 13,858 episodes and has been on CBS for 54 years. Also, they filmed at Silver Dollar City in 2007. It's sad that it was cancelled.  :( But you know the TV companies there in it for the money, because apparently to them that makes the world turn. ;)  I do think that a soap is better than that new show THE TALK which is coming October 18th. I can't stand talk shows like that because they try to tell you what to do and don't know crap themselves.

What are your favorite memories of As the World Turns? Please Post!

Has anyone noticed SDC and DW salvaging things lately. Some of the targets from Dreamland Forest (there were a bunch) had been moved to River Battle when it opened in 2008. There were only like five targets left in DF. I would imagine they saved the other targets, because theme park review did a trip report on DW and they showed pictures of Dreamland Forest's demolition. DW put up a huge red fence that had a picture of a pkane going though a barn and another plane flying next to the logo that said Barnstormer Coming 2011! I'm so excited. Anyways, it seems like SDC and DW both have been cheaping out lately by doing anything it takes to cut the costs, what do you guys think about this? ???

Now that DW is taking out the Dreamland Forest treehouses, do you think that SDC should take out Geyser Gulch? DW is simply getting some smaller playgrounds like a pig pen water play area, and a Bi-Plane play area to go with the Swing. I imagine it would be located next to the entrance of Mountain SLidewinder. So what do you think?

What should I do about Thunderation it gives me a headache because it's a little jerky. I will say I love Powderkeg because the track is just like Tennessee Tornado which are both smooth. I love Wildfire and Fire-in-the-hole. should i just stick to those three or is there a trick for Thunderation.

Dollywood is replacing Dreamland Forest with the new Giant Swing, and a new barnyard themed play area. The New attractions will be located adjacent to the Mountain Slidewinder (i'm excited that Slidewinder is not getting removed!!!) The Play Area will have a pig pen themed water play area. The Giant Swing will be bigger than SDC's Giant Swing DW's will go 81 feet and 45mph with a custom built ADA seat. Dollywood's will be named the Barnstormer themed to the partons farm yard way of life, and the area will be called Owen's Farm. Here's the link if you guys want to check it out!
