Other Parks / Re: Favorite Park and Why
« on: May 18, 2008, 05:29:39 PM »
Epcot (Science and technology combined with world travel, it's an awesome combination).
Magic Kingdom
Disney Studios
Disneyland
California Adventure
SDC
Bonfante Gardens (one of the most beautiful parks in the country).

I love SDC, but in my opinion it's not really in the same class as the Disney parks.

Branson Talk / Branson Declining?
« on: May 18, 2008, 05:25:38 PM »
I've been going to Branson for 30+ years, and I can't help but notice that the city seems to have peaked in the 80's/90's and seems to me to be on the decline.  Does anyone else get this feeling?

Branson Talk / Re: Dixie Stampede
« on: May 18, 2008, 05:23:08 PM »
My family really enjoys the Dixie Stampede.  Last time we sat on the first row, and it is true the when the horses would gallop by that the dirt did kick up on our food a couple of times.  I think if you don't sit on the front row it won't be a problem.  It didn't bother me at all, but my wife is a bit of a germophobe, so she didn't like it.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Frisco Silver Dollar Line

Sorry but I'm glad to see the train robbery go away.  It's old, boring and predictible.  I haven't ridden the train in years because I don't care to hear the same old tired jokes again.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Less Thrill Rides
« on: May 15, 2008, 09:46:44 AM »
I've been going to SDC for 30+ years.  I've been to quite a few theme parks around the country, and SDC is unique in it's natural beauty and the way it just blends into the surounding landscape.  I've always thought that if it weren't for the new coasters, you could fly over the park and might not even realize there was a theme park below.

My family rides the occasional coaster, but we really like the smaller more interactive attractions.  I think SDC has gotten away from these types of attractions.  I know there are a lot of coaster lovers, but I think there are far more people who don't really care about coasters as much.  Over the years I've been to SDC with 30 to 40 different people (Family & Friends) and probably only about 10 have ever ridden a coaster, the rest don't care about them. My point is that MOST people are not coaster riders.  So why is all of the money spent to add coasters when there are so many existing attractions that need to be updated (Flooded mine, Grandpa's mansion, tree house, Fire in the Hole, etc..)?  Is it simply because the "New" attraction generates the buzz they need to get people back to the park?

I liked the old Diving Bell and attractions that are interactive and/or tell stories.  Disney does these small attractions better than anyone (Peter pan, Buzz Lightyear, 3D Movies, etc..), and I wish SDC would go in this direction instead of trying to become another Six Flags.

SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: Rube Dugin's Diving Bell
« on: May 15, 2008, 09:15:19 AM »
This is my first post here, this is really a great site.

I remember the diving bell, I always thought it was one of the coolest rides in the park.  I wish they would bring it back.  I wish SDC would add more of these types of attractions, rather than going for the thrill rides.

Someone mentioned there was more info on the diving bell at "Silver Dollar Inside Track".  Is this a website?  I googled and couldn't find anything.
