Sad to see that SDC has taken the "SF route".
Are they hurting for money that badly?  ???

What's next?  Mandatory lockers at the entrances to the rides

No SDC and HFEC is not hurting for money, and one of the reasons we are going to weather this current economic downturn so well is that we respond to what our guests want. A lot of people have asked for this for the past few years. And compared to several other parks, this pass is very reasonable.

Yeah hi, you're new here.  Don't kid yourself thinking you're the only one posting on this board that knows what is going on at SDC/HFEC.  I'm well aware that they are not hurting for money.

Well, no not new here, new to posting, yes. Never said i was the only one who knows whats going on at the city/HFEC, but i know more then you, trust me.

I highly doubt it, but whatever helps you sleep at night.
How does that saying go again?  Those who know...

Hmmmm i've been reading the forums for a while and one thing strikes me as interesting. that would be the fact that there are some people on the list who act as if they are part of the board of directors of the company trying to spread the word of what's going on...

and comments like the one quoted above... really is there any point? i don't quite get why one would continue the back and forth bull that goes on more than it should.

i thought this was a happy place to talk about SDC and properties not a place for some to try to prove that they are in the know and bully others on the list.

so be nice. if you know something share but don't feel the need to tell everyone that you know everything.  it's annoying

What happened on Wildfire... why was it evacuated?
 ???
I took a friend to the City who has never been before on Saturday.  Despite the amazing amount of kids running around we had a pretty good day.  We were on Wildfire during the evacuation.  First ride of the day to! haha.  I was really impressed with how well they handled the evacuation.  I felt safe the whole time.  Plus we had two little boys next to us that kept us entertained!  All in all we had a pretty great day.

^I'd suggest wearing a carnation in your buttonhole.  One of us will eventually figure out a way to identify each other.  A button would be pretty easy.

^^What are you calling a "walking taco" and why can't you have one until the end of the year?

I read that so quickly that the buttonhole didn't quite read that way... lol
and i'm still giggling a bit hahaha

also the walking tacos are pretty tasty....

I'm a newbie..
I'm a big fan of Silver Dollar City and all it has to offer.. though I'm rather new to the park considering the length of time some of you have been attending the park.
I made made my first visit in 1988 and loved it!  My parents had visited in 1976 when they visited the area and I didn't get to see the place in the photographs until 12 years later.
My sister wearing a shirt that exposed her bellybutton was given a ticket at the front gate for "belly exposure"  I wanted that job.  Dress up and harass the guests... my sister still has that ticket written by Deputy Tweedle.
I fell in love with Fire in the Hole and the Lost River... The line back then sooooooooooo long!  I want to walk the old queue line one more time.. i loved the little climbing area in there.
Now I find myself on the occasional cave tour ... i didn't know the park had a cave until 1999.. lol oops
I always ran through the Hospitality House and rode rides all day... no time for the cave until I grew up.
And being a coaster fanatic, I hop on Powderkeg & Wildfire several times... though my favorite ride is the Barn Swing.  It's the only ride I've ridden in a while that causes the butterflys in the belly when you reach the apex of the swing.

I don't think you should sell something that has been given to you as a reward perk.  It does to me seem wrong.  I have heard in the past that the Bring A Friends were going to be phased out.  But I ask, why phase them out when instead the park could just do what it says and require the friend to be there.  I never sold mine and on a few occasions I ended up having them left over at the end of the season.  Even when gas was high, I didn't feel the need to sell the free passes to cover my expenses.

I have also been able to see the employees giving away their free passes.  About 2 or 3 years ago, I was stopped at the front and asked if I needed passes.  It was late in the Christmas Festival and the passes had to be used so there were 2 employees giving away their complimentary passes.  Anyone know how many the employees get?

Yesterday was a great day, light crowds, great weather, yummy food, good performances.  I think weekday worldfest is the best time to visit because of the small crowds.  If I could only get my boss to let me take days off more frequently it would be great!
I loved the balancing monks!  It was the second time I watched.  This time they did not jump up the stairs on their heads so I'm guessing they had a minor concussion.  haha from the hard floor

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Green Trams
« on: April 16, 2009, 09:54:21 AM »
I was driving down 76 yesterday at 10am on the way to the park and several green trams on the back of flat bed trucks drove past me.

:'(

looks like they are leaving the area. I wonder if they'll end up in another place performing their duty or be sent to the scrap heap?

my first visit to the park in 1988, the green tram was my first ride.  I miss them after riding in those awful white trams - no sentimental trips to SDC can be conjured up riding in the white ones.   ::)

I didn't know this Silver Dollar City fan site existed.
I went on a cave tour yesterday and our guide mentioned sdcfans.com on the train ride out of the cave.
I've been a member all of 2 hours and have found this a wealth of information some that i knew and a lot that i didn't know.
I think DocSpeleo was my guide his nametag at the cave was Doc.

Good job on the promotion of the site.
I look forward to reading the forums and learning more about Silver Dollar City.

There's a rumor floating around that a local church has made some sort of agreement with HFEC to lease CC somehow for the mean time. I don't know if they're using one of the buildings as a chapel, or having a christian fun-fair, or what. Anyone know more?

I don't know exactly how it works but there is already a church using CC.. The big castle building has services every weekend.
