The scam at Disney would not work at SDC because SDC grants you equal access, not right away boarding. You still have to wait the entire wait time at SDC, they give you a time to come back. Looks like Disney could learn something from our 53 year old "Hole in the ground"... You see what I did there?

When did they start that?!?! When I worked there (granted, that was a while ago), it wasn't like that.

As for that "hole in the ground," it's a heck of a lot older than 53 years!!!

Disney's problem is that once you apply for a pass, you don't have to apply again. So in the case that was on TV, one of the persons had been in a car accident and got a disabled pass then, but had since recovered. Disney asks for these types of problems, if you ask me. They already have their fast pass system. They could easily make people just get fast passes to rude the rides to where they have to come back, like you said, instead of letting them go straight to the front (basically) without having to wait. Stupid!

I'm trying to budget for the new pizza joint and was wondering what I should expect to pay for each pizza. I know this depends on the type of pizza you get but on average what do they run? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would budget for the WAIT!!! When we were there, the line was outrageous!

Hi! I don't know anything about the ropes being dropped early or not, but this weekend is also part of "Season Pass Holder Appreciation Days", where guests with season passes were able to get past the ropes and ride rides starting at 8:30 a.m.   I got down to Outlaw Run at 8:40 with almost no line, and by the time I came around for my second ride the line had already increased quite a bit.  That number of pass holders already in line probably contributed to an unusually long line already formed when you arrived. I hope your next trip to SDC is less frustrating!

This was in March.  ;)

As for the "feel" of SDC in comparison to other parks, I agree with others that there is no comparison.  It's neither Disney nor Six Flags. It's Silver Dollar City, which has its own feel entirely.  In regards to rides, you've got a really good mix of thrill rides and family rides.  For thrill rides, there's Powder Keg (similar to Mr. Freeze at Six Flags), Wild Fire (a roller coaster that goes upside down 5 times), and Outlaw Run (brand new wooden coaster this year that goes upside down in a corkscrew and is an absolute blast!), which have 48-52" height requirements depending on the ride.  A lot of your other rides are family rides with height requirements of 42" or less.  In the Grand Exposition, you're going to find rides similar to Dumbo and the Tea Cups along with other rides with sort of a "World's Fair" feel to it.  It truly is unique in that the park's theming is unlike any other park out there.  Definitely, on one of your days (or split up between the days), spend some time checking out some of the craftsmen and women at the park.  You'd be remiss not to!  There are blacksmiths, candle makers, glass blowers, candy makers, pottery makers and much, much more.  And a lot of the things you can buy on the park were made right there by these craftsmen and women!  It's hard to describe the feel of the park to someone who's never been there because it's just so different!  And that's definitely a good thing!  I really hope you enjoy your vacation!

You're not, by chance, the person from Disboards who said they were considering SDC for a family vacation, would you?! ;)  If so, welcome to the SDCfans forum! :D

I would personally do 2 days at SDC and 1 day at Whitewater. SDC has lots of festivals.  My favorite is World Fest (because of the FOOD!!!), but unfortunately, that one's over.  Now, Kids Fest is getting ready to start, and there's a lot of great entertainment for the kiddos, so do check out some of the shows.  It's a great way to take a break from the heat and enjoy some quality entertainment at the same time!

Again, welcome to the forum and I hope you have a wonderful trip!  :)

It was just surprising to me that this wasn't caught and that SO MANY people had been able to go down.  And yet there was a group of about 4 SDC employees standing in a group talking by the ice cream shop.  ::)

No... so once in line, we asked people how they got there so fast and they said that one of the ropes was down so they just went down.

Yeah, one person, I can understand.  But the line was SO long that the rope had to have been dropped for a considerable amount of time (this was day 2 of the season, so March).  I was extremely surprised that this happened, but considering how long the line was when we got there (and I was literally the first post-rope-drop person there).

So last time I was at the park, I had our route mapped out in my head.  As soon as they did the Pledge and dropped the rope, we RAN for Outlaw Run... only to discover that one of the ropes (the one on the far right if the Hospitality House is behind you) was dropped early and the line was already past the pizza place.  :'(

What's up with this?!  Is this a normal thing?  Did a guest, perhaps, drop the rope early and nobody was there to put it back up?  Or are they now dropping one of the ropes early (which, by the way, seems abhorrently unfair!  >:()

But Justice Wooten rejected a motion to dismiss the case, pointing out that Juliet was three months from becoming five when the pensioner was hit and old enough to be sued.

In his decision, he wrote Mr Tyrie 'correctly notes that infants under the age of four are conclusively presumed incapable of negligence'.

He added that 'Juliet Breitman, however, was over the age of four at the time of the subject incident. For infants above the age of four, there is no bright-line rule'.

I guess for particularly heinous "crimes" or if the accused is a particularly bright toddler, the prosecutor will move to "get them tried as a four-year old" compared to the notion of getting teens "tried as an adult" now LOL ::)

Can we please instruct the bailiff to put a high chair in, so the accused can take the stand? I hereby sentence you to serve three consecutive days in timeout without the possibility of parole. However, with good behavior, you can have a "candy-full visit" on Halloween ;)

Oh come now Nate!  You're being way too soft on the kid! ;) [/sarcasm]

Yeah, but Branson Star was destined to fail from the getgo.  I won't go into details, but let's just say I predicted their failure in the Spring of '08 when they opened their doors.

Christmas Cookie Eating Contest.. first one to puke wins! ;D

Snow Eating Contest... stay away from the yellow snow though!  :o

Question: If I take my kiddo to see the frosty the snow man show, and he gets all 4 year old excited, are there oter 4 year olds that get excited without the parents taking them out for sheer exuberence on the 4 year olds part? I dont want to be one of those parents that let their kid be loud/talk and be disruptive.

Oh, they call all of the kids up to the front... some get to "help" in the show, things like that.  And then, Frosty comes to life while all the kids are at the front.  If you're not sure if your kid will stay seated while all of that is going on, you're more than welcome to go up with him, or stand over on the side so that you're close by.

But, there are looooooooots of kids being... well... kids!!! ;D  Don't worry about your son!  I'm sure he'll fit in with all of the other excited 4 year olds! ;)
