I suspect the water causing the mask to become useless will cause a issue at WW with this new rule. Cant breathe through wet fabric. Same issue with the water rides at SDC. I will watch for photos as I am in your camp. No mask for me.
-
Checking temps on people... lets see,,, If its 90 degees outside, people ride the tram, (hmm? tram - safe distance?). then walk to turnstyles, wont most people be overheated and or sweating by then..??
also noticed in the article I read,, they did not disclose how many people were going to be allowed..
Very surprised Mystic Falls wont be ready.. thsoe guys had lots of extra time to work on it..

I'm guessing the mask rule won't last the summer. I'm guessing it won't really last a week at WW. LOL at wearing a mask at a water park. I'm super careful, and even i know that is ridiculous. If you are going to be hanging out at super public places, just plan to stay away from vulnerable people. That's all you can do at this point.
-
13 & 14 already full. Don't know if the reservation side is down or not, but I keep getting "no available dates" for the entire season! Also, it is showing the validity for season passes to be from 01/19/2020 to 06/15/2021.
-
This whole mask wearing business is dumb. 100% dumb. At a water park is just futile. And how about them roller coasters? That mask is going to come clean off. If one does take it off to ride, there is not a "clean" spot to put it. Husband brought up the same point as sand.....hot weather makes for hot bodies. It will be interesting for sure to see how this all works out. We are going to stay far away from SDC until this whole dumb butt rules thing goes away. I too was questioning the guest limit. Imagine if the whole year is booked already. Then I come home from work with the great news the park is finally open only to find out I dont get to go because they are booked. I am really hoping next year is better.

If you wear a bandana you could just keep it around your neck while riding

Official Press Release
~ Silver Dollar City Announces Opening ~
Season Pass Holders To Be First Guests June 13 & June 14,
Followed by All Guests June 15
White Water and Showboat Branson Belle to Follow
(Branson, Missouri, 6.1.2020) After much preparation, numerous operational changes and added health and safety measures for guests and employees, we are pleased to announce Silver Dollar City is opening exclusively for Season Pass Holders on Saturday, June 13 & Sunday, June 14, followed by all guests on Monday, June 15.
“Creating Memories Worth Repeating is our mission. Families are facing many challenges today, and we are excited to welcome them to create new and exciting memories,” said Brad Thomas, President and General Manager of Silver Dollar City. “We’ve spent months planning and preparing to open within the health and safety guidance from our industry and governmental experts. We encourage our guests to read through changes we have made as they make plans for their visit,” said Thomas.
To comply with appropriate social distancing guidelines, daily park capacity will be limited. Pass Holders and general admission guests will be required to reserve the date they wish to visit:
■ Reservations can be made at www.SilverDollarCity.com/reservations and on our mobile app. Additional details and a “how-to” video are posted in both locations to assist guests with this new process.
■ Additionally, prior to entering the facilities, hosts and visitors will have a touchless temperature scan. For the protection of each other, guests (age 3 and up) and all hosts will be required to wear a mask.
■ Further information on all safety and operational changes is available at www.SilverDollarCity.com/playsafe
Opening with The City is the all-new Rivertown Smokehouse as well as the new Cinnamon Bread Bakery. Mystic River Falls river raft ride opens later this summer.
WHITE WATER to open Monday, June 15 & Tuesday, June 16 for Season Pass Holders ONLY, and then Wednesday, June 17 for all guests. White Water will have similar guidelines as those put in place for Silver Dollar City, including a contactless temperature scan prior to entry, reduced daily capacity limits, capacity adjustments for rides and restaurants and a requirement to wear a mask or face covering.
SHOWBOAT BRANSON BELLE will open Saturday, June 20. Reservations are encouraged, but walk-up purchases are allowed. Showboat Branson Belle will also follow guidelines to include a contactless temperature scan prior to entry, reduced seating capacity and a requirement to wear a mask face or face covering except while eating.
Silver Dollar City appreciates guests’ continued support and patience as we all work together to create a new environment for each other. For general information visit www.silverdollarcity.com

I just made a reservation for the 13th and 14th. Are the masks required for their workers for for the guests?
-
I keep getting error messages when putting in my season pass number. Neither one works. First, this ticket has already been scheduled, then, ticket not validated. Just tried to call the city, but they closed now at 4pm. Guess I'm out of luck. >:(
-
Looks like they are selling 4800 SDC tickets per day and 1056 WW tickets per day.
I wonder if season pass reservations are from a separate block or if they are subtracted from the number of daily tickets. Or it might also be a combination of the two.

Everyone ages 3 and up (as it very clearly states at the bottom of your confirmation email). Though they can be removed for extreme thrill rides

If that is the total number on park you will have the park to your self.
Good question if season pass holders contribute to that number. I guess we will find out come the opening weekend.

Be interesting to know what the "break even" number is for quests versus operating costs.. I doubt if 5000 people cover the bills..
-
I wondered that myself....

I don't know about having the park to yourself since there will be a lot of things closed. The way they are talking all the indoor theaters will not be open plus several other attractions, shops and food locations. This will definitely increase foot traffic in the city.
-
A couple of points/questions. First question is, lets say they do only have a max 5k people on the park, will they run all the trains on the rides for "social distancing" or only run 1 train like they normally would on a slow Sunday. The thing about the masks is asking for trouble. If people are wearing disposable masks that they get rid of that is one thing. Most people continue to reuse them or are wearing those homemade cloth mask that do nothing. These mask are collecting all sorts of contaminates that you then put on your face and inhale. If you are taking the off for thrill rides, what are you supposed to do with them? Stick them in a cubby and collect even more germs and contaminates.
-
Any guesses on when people will be able to reserve more than two dates?
Right now you can only reserve two dates, but obviously we'd like to reserve more.
I completely understand the current two day limit, but wondering how long they will wait until opening it up for more reservations? If they do keep it at two dates, they will have to refund season passes I would think?
If this has already been addressed, my apologies, please point me in the right direction.
As far as masks go, I will wear one as the park has the right to establish dress code. However, I fully expect the mask enforcement to be a complete joke once you're in the gate, and I think most people will be good about it. I mean, if you're that afraid of the mysterious rona, you shouldn't be going to a theme park anyway.
-
So far, the reservation system has worked well when I've tried it. However, there are a few things that I wish they would add. I'm guessing that these will be added at some point and I realize that it was just released.
• Once you have made your 2 reservations there isn't a way for you to see what the level of availability anymore. So if you are considering cancelling one reservation and switching to a different day there isn't a way to make sure that day is actually available. Phone customer service is also unable to see date availability. When I spoke to them it sounded like they were using the same online system as everyone else.
• It would be great to be able to see a list of your reservations. We made, cancelled and remade reservations yesterday as we worked through our schedule. It would be reassuring to be able to see a list of our active reservations. They also aren't sending out cancellation confirmation emails when you cancel a reservation.
-
I feel like masks are 100% a CYA move for the park. With all of the constant removing for rides, eating, and drinking along with normal fidgeting with them because it’s hot and abnormal to wear a mask all day, there effectiveness is going to be reduced to almost nothing. I hope some more experiments will soon show the ineffectiveness and we can do away with wearing them, especially outside.
Has anyone heard what they are doing with the refil mugs and or the unlimited drink tumblers. As far as I know restaurants have all ceased letting you get drinks in your own cup and I’m curious how SDC is dealing with that.
-

I looked and I haven't seen anything to address them either. I have some old grandfathered ones that I have used for years which I'm not sure if I will be able to now.

A friend works at SIG in Exeter NH, and they do temp checks. He goes outside to smoke on his breaks, so he pegs the meter when he goes back in.
Same for my son-in-law, who is an engineer at a plastics manufacturing plant in Baltimore.
Both of them have to go sit in time-out before passing the temp check and being allowed in.
-
Looks like they aren't selling TrailBlazer passes anymore.
They are still selling 25 Super Splash Passes per day for WW.

I am glad to hear Trailblazers are no longer sold. They won't be needed in this time.

I suspect HFE will take this opportunity to get rid of them forever, which is a goal they have been working toward and now have a perfectly good excuse to complete.
-
Dollywood has now announced their opening on the 15th. I haven't been to Dollywood before... is it quite a bit smaller? It looks like they are only selling around 2700 tickets per day vs the 4800 that SDC is. Maybe they are placing single day tickets and season pass reservations in two different allotments?
-
^Dollywood is a bit larger than SDC at this point. They must have allotted things differently and have more pass holders.
There have been some very good points made about how the park has little choice but to enforce some of these rules to protect from lawsuits. It seems silly, but if a second wave hits and you start to see people around here personally affected it will start to make a lot more sense. Once the hospital bills stack up, insurance companies/lawyers/etc will be out for blood.
I'll be very interested to hear trip reports from the first week. I imagine it will be a bit subdued SDC experience, but still probably a lot of fun to be doing something again.
-
Dollywood is much larger than SDC. 150 acres versus around 60. SDC is a very small park compared to many of the heavy hitters
-
^Both SDC and DW own a ton of land. Not sure where you are getting the 60 acres from. I think even just the walkable area inside the main gates is more than 60 acres. DW is spreading out more due to the hills they have had to work around. SDC kind of spokes out from a central hilltop whereas they have filled up a couple valleys and are now flattening areas to build more.
Perhaps they are also limiting passes at DW more because there are more cases in that area?
-
I got it from not the most reliable source, wikipedia. I just know from going to both that Dollywood feels much larger and has a lot more rides
-
Uhhhh, I bought trailblazer season passes for this year. Should I try to get a refund or use them?
I was just talking to my doctor yesterday about the subject of masks. He confirmed what I have been saying the whole time. Masks are for keeping things in, not keeping things out. On other words, if you are coughing then by all means wear one to keep from spreading whatever you might have. If you are not, then they do very little good and continuing to reuse them just puts more contaminates on your face.
-
Tried to call to roll our passes over to next year yesterday. Called 39 times and never even got into a queue. That's ridiculous! They must have one person working.

the rollover to next year is automatic., Will be good to June 1st.. Still a full year pass.. from now until then..
Phone line busy?
yes, probably a half a dozen operators trying to answer hundreds of people wondering about refunds, or how to roll their passes over, or how many people a day will be allowed.
They need time to talk to everyone, and I would bet that over half of those calls are not time sensitive. most calls could wait until next week or next month to get answers..
I for sure feel sorry for what they (the operators) are having to deal with..
-

They are also giving the option to roll it over to a full 2021 pass (no 2020 visits) without fees or any potential price increase. Otherwise they are valid through June 13, 2021.
-
....and all of this could have been avoided if they’d just made the passes good through the end of 2021. There’d be no one asking for refunds or people wanting to roll over passes to 2021. It would have just worked itself out. Guess Cedar Fair knew best after all

So if you do not use your SP between now and Dec 31 2020, it will rollover automatically into a complete SP for 2021?? Or if you use it say March 2021 does that nullify the rollover after June 13 2021??
-
Yes. Wanting to use all next year. This year is a wash for my family as far as passes go. Would've been nice to just extend to all next year like cedar fair. Not like we won't spend a ton on over priced concessions

From the FAQ, it looks like you have to call.

Seeing all the backlash, (and I am sure they are aware of it) they might cave and follow suit with Cedar Fair.

Did find out they were going to pro-rate current SP that are used before June 13, 2021 for the remainder of 2021. So I presume if you did not use your pass at all in 2020 it would just be considered a brand new pass good for the 2021 season.

Well when they promised a full season of unlimited visits, people have a right to be upset considering the visits are no longer unlimited.
-
Are the guest passes going to be the same for 2020? My family buys 2 season passes and use the guest passes for 2 kids. This could make our season unusable if the guest passes aren't valid.
-
Also, my 4 year old was going to get a free season pass from the special promotion this year. Will she still be able to get that?

Yes, I am sure that any of these types of specials are going to be carried.
I think I had read that somewhere.
-

Yes. The guest passes have a number just like the season passes do. You can enter them in the reservation system to save a spot too. There is also the bonus one that is good for most of the season. It is already loaded in the reservation system and you can choose to add it to the reservation when you add your season pass.
-
Also, my 4 year old was going to get a free season pass from the special promotion this year. Will she still be able to get that?
You should have gotten the paper voucher that looks like a season pass/bring a friend pass. You use the number on it just like a season pass to make a reservation. You still have to take a birth certificate and the voucher to redeem it for the actual pass. The Adventure passes have also been extended through all of 2021, not just June 13th like Season Passes.
-
If you need to book dates through mid-August, go check the reservation site now... you might surprised what you can book.
-
So I've been continuing to monitor the comments and reactions over on social media. Yeah I have to say the backlash has been beyond ridiculous. I've seen people literally post that they hope they go bankrupt and close over this! Sheesh it's one thing to disagree on something but really? Hoping for the park to shutter?
-
I don't understand what people expected. Regardless of mine or anyone's personal opinions, this is what SDC has to do. They have to follow the current CDC guidelines, otherwise risk multiple lawsuits and a reputation of not caring for guest safety. I don't understand the outrage or the backlash when a large corporation where thousands of guests will be milling about together, had no other choice.
-
I get the backlash but come on, hoping they go out of business? I guess that is the society we live in today. I bet it ends up being a very slow season this year.
-
One of my season pass tickets is not working. So I try to call the number...impossible to get hold of them. It just hangs up after saying they are getting high call volume. I have tried sending an e-mail on Silver Dollar City website, but they are not responding.
Need to get this fixed as I am going up end of this week, Needless to say, but I am very unhappy with their service. >:(

Scott, I think you answered your problem. There are a lot of people trying to refund their season pass after the whole mask fiasco. I'm sure once you get to the city that they can fix it there, or try calling another day?

Why would a business whose customers are purely voluntary be at more risk than the "essential" businesses that have been open the entire time, with almost no restrictions?
-
Surely no one is expecting either sanity or logic in these matters. It's all up to the lawyers, now. An entire generation of them will thrive on little else but CoViD-19 cases well into the second half of this century.

Because it’s an intelligent virus. It won’t effect you at Walmart or Home Depot but will get you at a small local business. It won’t get you at the abortion clinic but will at church. It won’t get you at the alcohol store but definitely will at the gun store. It won’t get you in a drive thru but definitely inside a restaurant. It won’t get you if you are in groups of 10 or less but if you add one more you’re doomed. It won’t get you if you are at least 6’ apart but go under that magic distance and it’ll get you.
Look it’s a real virus and it’s effected a lot of people. I just don’t understand what made this virus so special that we threw out all former immunology theories that we’ve learned in the past. I’m not trying to be political but seriously how can people be so naive to not see how peculiar the actions taken this time were. I don’t see how the WHO and CDC will ever be able to regain their credibility after this botched job. And instead of admitting they were wrong, they keep down.

I think the game changer on this one is not having a vaccine ready yet. The flu is nasty and does take lives but the general public is not as paranoid about it since there is a vaccine- albeit one that is not totally resistant to that year's strain- that will still provide, if not some prevention, at least a milder case of the flu. I get the vaccine every year (they offer it at my place of employment) because I've had the full fledged flu before and take precautions to try not to get it again.

Even thought the flu vaccine is rarely even close to 50 percent effective.
I remember reports in Feb that the flu had kill nearly 70 in Arkansas up to that point with the March and early April peak coming. I haven't heard a single update to that since. It has been supplanted for the just over 200 Wuflu deaths. Did that number become static or has it risen? Or... did the 30 plus expected additional flu deaths become Wuflu deaths instead?
I had a hospital testing my cousin who had a bad reaction from a tick bite tested a total of 5 times for her week and a half stay in hospital. She said it was she felt she was their stratchoff lottery ticket hoping she'd test positive for that extra money.

Still though it can change the public's perceptions and that seems to make a difference.

Yeah, I've seen enough of " the public" this past 10 days to discount their perceptions to a value near zero.

Well it is still 2020,
just another example of anything can happen this year.......
And it aint even july yet!!
-
It is an election year, so that pretty much explains the explainable with the hyped up virus.

on the schedule to be open next sat, the 20th..
Nothing about a full schedule.. I just checked the days entertainment schedule...
-
I’m here now waiting for opening. So far everyone is in masks. Will see how long that lasts. I’m already starting to get miserable sitting here in this mask.
-
We left at about 12:30. The place was not packed by any means but the lines for
Rides appeared to be very long. TT was backed up all the way to the top
Of the stairs. PK was backed out of the building. Fortunately we had season trailblazer passes. The masks made the visit very h comfortable. So much so we it started getting to hot and hard to breath so we left. A side effect for me was I started getting nauseous after riding the coasters with the mask on.
-
Were the water rides open this weekend? I never saw the American Plunge or Riverblast listed on the Ride Wait Times on the SDC app.
-
Yea they were both open.
-
How did they handle the refillable mug situation? Ours are from the 90s. I heard they would probably honor the price on the mug but give you a throwaway cup for the same price.
-
Correct, we paid the $1 for the buzzsaw falls mugs but they just gave it to us in a paper cup which ended up being a larger quantity. Worked fine for me.
