SDC once had a ferris wheel in the Landing. It was introduced in 1989, but has since then vanished. Anyone know what happened to it or why it was taken out? Pictures would be good to.

I wish I had pictures or knew something about this but I don't know anything about the ferris wheel.
-
I asked about the Farris Wheel and was told that they had a lot of problems with it. It was located kind of where the Carousel is now, a little more to the right. It was a miniature wheel that would always get stuck and so they got rid of it.
-
Huh, I wonder what model/maker it was, and why they've never looked for a replacement. I guess it was hard to make it fit the theme, but it could sure work in the expo.
-
The Ferris Wheel was themed only in the sense that it was tan and brown, and it was made to appear to be chain driven and powered by the water feature in that area. It was near the Runaway Ore Cart and close to the corkscrew shortcut from Midtown to Tom Sawyer's Landing. Do these, the carousel, and the balloon chase really fit in the Landing area, or do they need to be repainted and moved to the Expo?

They're alright where they are, as they've grown into the charm of the place, but I wouldn't really want to see much else put down there ride-wise. Then again, the carousel would have a much higher ridership if it were somewhere more visible...
Anyone have any photos of it?

There is one on this site... http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/gallery/parks/sdc/14.jpg (http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/gallery/parks/sdc/14.jpg)

^The link didn't work for me and when I went to the SDC galleries the picture wasn't there or else I just didn't see it.

It's there... In the SDC gallery, it's the second to last photo in the third row.
