Why does Branson zoning allow such gaudy ugly things to be built. Hope it's not as bad as that giant chicken.

Unless it shapes up a little and the colors change, it will be WAAY worse than the chicken!

You are exactly right - Gawdy and down right embarrassing.

I'll say this:  at least the owners are trying to put themes and unique settings into their properties.  I recognize that the food is not always up to my standards for the price, but I can say the same for most of Branson's restaurants.  I'm glad they are investing in Branson and making the restaurants unique.

Gawdy?  You might say the same for the wax museum, Ripley's, giant banjos, go cart tracks, mini-golf courses, and other places, including some iconic places we've gotten used to through the years.  Such is the tourism industry.

You are right, but most of the strip has deteriorated to gaudy tourist trap joints. It surely does not make Branson appeal to me anymore. Whatever happened to the Spirit of 76 project? A good set of plans and specifications that developers are held to would go a long ways to clean up the mess they have now.  A master plan.

Update:
Sghettis is supposed to open may 2-3rd...

Ci-Cis-  Footings, support walls and concrete slab for floor poured,

T-bones-  dumpsters parked outside, workers vehicles sitting around, looks like they are staining the outside.
didn't hear about an open date

Looking at the article by clicking on the link History Buff posted, I don't see anything so bad about what it will look like. I think it sounds pretty unique and looks cool (of course I know I'm weird). My family will visit it when we are in Branson if it is not too expensive. We are very excited about Ci Ci's. I did not realize Branson was getting one (this is the Ci Ci's pizza buffet correct?). My family loves Ci Ci's.

Josh, yes Ci-cis buffet pizza,,,

As far as the meat ball goes.  keep in mind that building is about 3 stories tall.!   it is a big 'shroom!,  but a bigger fork...

I'm not to excited about CiCi's,  I don't go to Branson to eat at a regular chain restaurant that I can get down the street from our house.

I would much rather see a place like Pasgetti's come in, yeah its gawdy from the outside, but the inside looks pretty interesting...six different themed rooms, and its huge. I hope the actual food is good though, but from the reviews I have read of some of the 'soft' openings/trials, people are impressed.
I would rather see this than a Chili's, Applebee's, Olive Garden, etc (while all these are ok places at home, I want something different while on vacation).

Just my 2cents.  :)

Dollar, I agree with you about Ci-Ci's..  how many Pizza joints does 1 town really need..LOL

I will for sure check out Pasghettis at least once..  I am hoping their pricing is too high to justify.

The "chain" business I would like to see is a Roadhouse. Not everybody likes them, but I like the food and the prices aren't bad either..

I agree about ci cis. It's about like eating cardboard pizza.

We always tend to stay away from all chains when on vacation and enjoy finding hole in the wall and good local gems to eat at.

So isn't this giant meatball a St. Louis based chain? Kind of supries me they hired a chef since it is a local chain. Maybe they are just licensing the name and not the recipes.

I for one am not turned off by the Chicken or the meatball.  Its cheesy but fun and great for the kids.
If you have ever been to Downtown Disney you would see things like this, done well they are lots of fun and add character.
It goes with the Titanic and the Wax Museum Kong.

We live in a very small town that has nothing like Ci Ci's. We have to drive around 160-170 miles to get to something like that. I'm sure I'd be saying the same thing however if there were something like this in our town. There are pros and cons of living in a smaller town that is not close to any major cities. We really lack choice for places to eat here.

we just got back from 4 days in Branson and I thought that the town was more kitchy than gaudy. my girls loved the interesting buildings, I grew up in central Florida and it kinda reminded me of home( I drive, Disney, uni, etc) I think its important to remember that Branson is first and foremost a tourist town. and putting a theme restaurant in a plain red brick building generates no eye buzz. that being said Branson and those who love it should embrace the touristy aspects of the town for it will lead to more people spending hard earned vacation money and ultimately building up what is already a great town even more.  :) ;D

Drove by the psgettis restaurant this weekend.  Honestly the fact that anyone on here would say that it looks cheap or touristy is astounding to me.
I guess if it were not flanked on the left by a replica of the Titanic and shadowed by the King Kong right across the street with the UFO mini golf there at the Wax Museum as well maybe it would be out of place but it seems to me that they are keeping with the theme of that part of town.

Agree!! We were in Branson this past weekend too, and I thought it looked great; not out of place at all...considering its surroundings.

I'm certain the owner of the spaghetti place also owns the chicken place, and has 4 or 5 buffets in town nicknamed the Fogel Fatal Five.

Well I am not real excited about CiCis or Psgettis. Since I have 2 Psgettis within 30 minutes and 1 CiCis 5 more minutes. However. I am happy when ANY business moves in to Branson. I do agree with Sanddune. I would like to see a Texas Roadhouse, or Outback come in to town. (Yes I know Outback - as we know it - can not come in because of the "original" Outback Pub is still in Branson across from Grand Country). The 2 are NOT affiliated at all. I dont want the Pub to leave by any means.

That one's interesting, seems like it would be a successful restaurant space, but apparently it didn't work for that either. I actually tried to go to T-bones earlier this year but found it closed. It was the closest place Google Maps pulled up for BBQ (of which there are surprisingly few good options for in Branson). Could be useful in the Fall though to catch night games after visiting SDC.

Drafts is open know, I guess they opened on Monday this week...

Shindigs opened where the old Gilley restauraunt was, I am hearing GOOD food, GREAT BBQ, and starting to get live music in there again. I will try it soon.

I ate at The Upper Deck Sunday, Large portions, fair price. They are located in branson meadows, around the corner from the church. We were the only 2 inthere, and 2 employees.. Slow start for them, tough location, hope it works out. Worth the money.

Big Whiskey's is open at Branson Landing. Drink specials, $1 sliders and half off several appetizers during Happy Hour 4 pm - 6 pm Monday -- Friday. It is right across from Waxy O'Shea's. We tried it out Friday and enjoyed it. Thought it was better than the Ozark location.

It is not a distillery -- just a bar and grill. However, a moonshine distillery will soon be opening at Branson Landing.

We ate at The Upper Deck again, really like that food..  price is fair.. BUT don't go if you are pushed for time..  service is good, but seems to take a while for food to come out.. they cook everything onsite...  BUT, I feel like the cook needs to learn to multi-task a little more...  Have some time? try them out.  In Branson meadow mall..

The new Drafts was very busy this weekend,, the parking lot at least 75% full all the time...  We will try them later...

The whole town seemed very busy this weekend, LOTS of traffic... BUT it rained sat and sunday, so I am sure the added to the "problem"

I also just read on 1Branson that military people receive a 40% discount everyday at The Upper Grill..  I don't know if wife/family is included (I doubt it)..  But that would make a 9.00 Philly Sandwhich with 2 sides less than 6.50! Great Deal..!

Not a new place, but I have to put a word in for Dobyns at Keeter Center. My word is WOW!  Picked up groceries at Harter House the first night in town, but I was starving and mad at myself for not being better prepared as I stood in the checkout line.  As a celiac, I don't go anywhere without a lunchbox!  I ate everything in it on the drive!  :). Hubs suggested we stop at Dobyns at Keeter Center just to see what they could offer. Not only do they understand the importance of providing a gluten free meal, but they are stringent about making sure it doesn't get cross contaminated. The chef can make almost all entrees gluten free.  I was still a little worried until the manager came over to reassure me that not only do they take precautions, but they can offer a gluten free bread basket. I could've cried, I was so happy. One prime rib dinner later with yummy bread, and I did the happy dance!  Slightly pricey, but no more than any good restaurant.

Drove by the new Psghetti's (or whatever) and I must comment on the meatball.  I have no problem with a giant meatball entrance as an idea...but what they have is just plain hideous and it looks like 40 year old puke.  Perhaps it isn't done yet?  Really bad.

Must also plug McFarlain's yet again.  It never disappoints.  Great service, timely arrival, great fresh and hot food and lots of it for what you pay.

I've had a hard time getting too wound up over how Pasghetti's turned out, but seeing the recent photos is really making me mad that they think this is OK. It really does look awful, no matter how tacky everything around it is. I kept thinking there were more details to be added to make it all look presentable in the end, but apparently this is it.

What really gets me is that the original concept art was decent:
https://www.selectbranson.com/pasghettis-italian-restaurant-coming-to-branson-this-fall/

but instead we got this:
http://www.selectbranson.com/pasghettis-the-newest-italian-attraction/

That's a travesty. Not only does the company behind Pasghetti's give zero ****'s, but there's still clearly no review process in Branson and the PTB are still failing to uphold even the bare minimum level of standard for Branson developments. The Spirit of 76 project won't do much if they don't start enforcing developers to take at least a little care in what they're doing.

It's definitely OK, and even encouraged, for businesses in Branson to go crazy with their decor and facades, but crap is crap. They definitely could have made the meatball look a lot better, and it looks like they just gave up on the front facade.

Typical Branson unregulated construction. What is the PVC pipes laying around supposed to be ? Hopefully the spirit of 76 project will take roots and business owners will embrace it. Foogle on the other hand seems to be trying to destroy the town with his obnoxious stuff.

Those are pipes; they are pasta.

I actually think the pictures or the meatball look very similar to the concept art.  They went with a tomato (though I thought it was an apple) at the roofline which breaks it up a bit, but it is a shame they cheaped out on the front window, etc.

I think this company has enough clout and presence in Branson that they are probably given some slack politically.
