What is the best deal? In the past we have just bought the booklets but it seems like there should be a better deal.

If you're going to be there any length of time, buck up and buy the "go-card". It's a bit more upfront but after that all your credits are 1/2 price and it's good for the rest of the year. You can also renew the following year for less than buying a new one.
