the weekend count has been down ALOT!!! 2 weeks ago they had about 8 on Friday and 10 on sat and sun..
last weekend the count was up to a modest 11,000 per day..
I heard today's (july 4th's) number was a little 14,000!!! WOW....
-
It is never busy on the 4th. We always tell people that the best days to go to parks are actually holidays. Now the days around them.... busy, busy, busy
-
since we have hit on this a couple of times.,.. 4th of july numbers for attendance as follows.
4th- 14,500
fri - 14,500
sat 14,300
sun - 8,000?? oops!! ;)

Travel home day plus geez it's been a long weekend factor.
-
Aren't Sundays usually quieter anyway?
-
I was there sunday actually and everything was walk on. But I had a wonderful time!
-
And that, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, is why I go on Sundays

We always go on Sunday or Monday morning.;. No way I could tell you the last time I was there on a sat?, Unless it was a sat nite during OTC...
;D ;D ;D---OTC--- ;D ;D ;D (leaned back in chair smiling)
-
Weekdays, especially when school is in session, are always good, too. Avoid Saturdays at all cost unless you love long lines and big crowds.
-
Time to merge this with the attendance thread...just saying... ::)
-
Last year the only time my family, and I had a chance to visit Old Time Christmas was Thanksgiving weekend. Saturday was so busy that people were entering the park next to the Candy Factory. This year we have decided to visit a little earlier in November - and in the middle of the week! ;)
-
Ozark, just remember that during nov. the park is only open thur/fri/sat/sun.......... NO wed's in nov or dec..(except for thanksgiving eve ;))
-
Haha thanks Sand! Although, if I did go on Wednesday in November I could bring the attendance record up 100% from 0 to 1. :D
-
That's true!! But you would have to stand in line for hours!!! With no operators on duty, and you might get thirsty/hungry too.........LOL
-
Opening weekend for midnite madness,,,,,,,,
Sat's attendance a modest 15,000..( PTB should have like that, I think that is the best day in 4 or 5 weeks!!)
sunday, 11,000...
-
Solid numbers are good numbers! It seems like Moonlight Madness really kicks up in early August just before school starts. Of course that could just be my skewed imagination. :D
-
anyone have a projected number for this Friday?
-
Daily projections during the week has been running 11,500 - 12,000, with sat and sunday running a little higher.. of course "projections" are not actual visitor count....
today (wed) is projected @ 12,300, and they only have about 8,000 as of 2:00 this afternoon.
-
Sat and Sun ads looking good right now after some heavy rain forecasted for tonite into tommorrow. Upper 70s to mid 80s for the end July? More please. Will likely hit the park on Sunday.
-
thanks! I don't care to tough out scattered showers if it means shorter lines :)

I had a feeling the crowds were light yesterday. We got there after 6pm, and it was only a 15min wait for pretty much everything we went on.
-
Joy, yes light crowd on wed, 8500 - 9000.... ::)
today there is over 12,500 there going into the evening.... :o :o
NO way to predict traffic flow..!! ???
-
It looks like I am going Saturday ( against my better judgement) a day trip with kids to ride the rides. I am afraid of the #'s on a Saturday.
-
If we hadn't made a spur-of-the-moment trip to Memphis last weekend I would try to convince DH to make a day trip to SDC on Sunday. Should be wonderful weather; congrats to all of you going!

What ya do in my half hometown? I was back home two weeks ago for Robert Plant and to fetch some good watermelons. Got a couple of 40lb. Yellow meats that were wonderful.
-
well it is cloudy and raining in our favorite city, that will mess up today attendance count,,,
I called and checked they were expecting 15,000!!!! today/ this evening...... as of noon only 3500 people there today :( :(..
Checked OR wait time and it is closed for weather :( :(
Sure hope the sun comes out and there is a late afternoon rush, but radar indicates rain all day...
Mhguy!! grab your shorts! it will be busy tomorrow!!! :o :o :o
-
You're right, rain sure has a way of dampening attendance numbers - no pun intended. ;)
I can't remember who it was, but I do remember a post by a member here who attended during a snow day, and they practically had the whole park to themselves.
-
Yep..that was me Ozark. It was almost spooky but that visit ranks right up there with the best time I've had at SDC. Something like 1400 were there that day. You couldn't do a whole lot because all the rides were shut down and most of the stores hadn't opened yet, but it was fun walking around the park.
-
Earlier spring, on a sunday, it was cold, snowing, nothing was running, at noon ther ehad only been 212 people in the gate, with a daily total of around 425-450 people.
IT was nasty that day!
Friday, rainy day yesterday at 6 in the vening, 4500 and at 8:00 there were 5100 :(.
The weather seemsto really being fighting the PTB..
-
WOW!!! I just checked in at the city, as of 4:00 there were almost 19,000 people here!!!! and still have 6 more hours to go!!
WHAT a great day for the city.. That may be the highest for day for this year..
Mhguy was going to be there today, we will see what he has to say about the crowd!!
-
OK OK OK!!!
Time to go back into the history books,,,!!! What is the biggest attendance day that you know of???
Because today---7-27-2013, as of 9pm... there were.........................................
.........23,135 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
Now that's an awesome number and the PTB should be thrilled!!!
-
Biggest day I remember from my time on park, 20,000 people. That was about 79 or 80. Hot, peoples shoes leaving imprints on the asphalt, long lines everywhere, park running short on supplies. elbow to elbow on the streets. Not a fun day.

And not a single coaster except FITH, and no way across town except two-lane 76 with no protected left turns.

That's what low 80s and sunny at the end of July gets you. Local markets(3 hr or less drives) flocked to the city with extended hours. That was forecasted for about a week and boom it happened.
-
Your are right Chittlins.. BOOM it happened,, and rain all day Friday I am sure helped sat numbers, although it looks like rain there today too... so total weekend count may only be so-so, but MAN!! what a day staurday would have been..
Final unofficial "Official" count for Sat.,,, 23,123
-
I honestly do not intend to go back duning midnight madness. Christmas is crazy but the lights and entertainment make up for it. This is a different story.
Mhguy was going to be there today, we will see what he has to say about the crowd!!
I parked in preferred but the parking when I left was completely full, I saw nothing open anywhere. The lower sliver of a parking lot in the middle of the loop was even full, they must have been parking people on off property lots. The lines were through the full q's and out the doors, AP line went all the way out to the observation bridge in front. Outlaw run was all the was out to the snack bar. This was at 3:15 Crazyness.
Not going on another Saturday in the summer for a while.
-
Time to go back into the history books,,,!!! What is the biggest attendance day that you know of???
December 1st, 2012 we were over 24. The 2nd was right up there too.
-
Sounds like a perfect combination of a break in bad weather, low temperature, just before school starts, Moonlight Madness, and of course it was the weekend. ;D
-
So Swoosh, what was dec 1 & 2?
was that the rollout weekend for OR? ..
-
If we hadn't made a spur-of-the-moment trip to Memphis last weekend I would try to convince DH to make a day trip to SDC on Sunday. Should be wonderful weather; congrats to all of you going!

We went for a day to watch Carp' pitch for the Redbirds. :)
I was there this Spring on a ~400 attendance day, and it was pretty nice! Also been there in the Winter on a low day like that.
But back on topic: As part of the "local" we too would have gone down for that wonderful weather if we didn't already have plans. I'm glad the City had a great weekend!! It seems like they needed it. Hopefully they can get a bit more of that in the next week or so as the temps stay mild and folks are looking for the last things to do before schools start up all too soon.
-
So Swoosh, what was dec 1 & 2?
was that the rollout weekend for OR? ..
Unseasonably warm temperatures. It was crazy. Felt like an early fall day that weekend.
-
We were there Saturday from 8:30 to about 6:00, and the crowd was staggering but it did not feel like the most crowded I've seen it. Sure, the lines were long, but we weren't riding coasters. The only really long line was for LROTO, but only the youngest wanted to ride, so the rest of us sat and people watched for 45 minutes. We hit the train station just before a train came in, and we didn't make the next one, but we did get the second one--we've waited longer during OTC when they were running two trains. (Side Note: we rode behind #43 for the first time this year, all our previous trips having been behind #13.) We got off the train and went right to FM, and the end of that line was on the bridge, but it moved quickly. (The music was turned up really load: we could hear it well for the first time this year.) Again, the line wasn't onerous.
I think part of this was that there were really at least TWO crowds there Saturday: when we left, as many people were coming in as leaving. There seemed to be an early crowd and a late one, so, depsite the high numbers, not all of them were there the whole time.
-
Interesting observations palallin! :)
You're experience reminds me a lot of Old Time Christmas. There is the day time crowd which leave just after sunset, and then there is a nighttime crowd which arrive after dark.
-
We were there on 7-27 and heard basically the same attendance number. We arrived at 8:40 am and left about 12 hours later. Only seen it that busy during Christmas. We brought our daughter and son-in-law for their first trip and brought our granddaughter for her second trip. Our kids were a little over whelmed by the crowds but we kept finding things to do that were non rides. I did ride a couple TnT, PK and WF with my daughter. Didn't get to ride Outlaw Run, disappointed about that. We headed back there first thing and while waiting for it to open for the day, walked back to drop off our mugs with rest of the family and they were tending to my granddaughter. She was walking near the rock wall across from Crossroads Pizza and cut her leg open on a rock sticking out. Sliced it open. EMS staff was great. First time ever we needed them, thank goodness. By the time we were finished taking care of her, the wait for OR was basically 2 hours all day. Couldn't justify taking that much time away from the family on their first trip to the City. One other interesting note, we always hand over some loot to Alfie and Ralfie. There were more people handing over loot this time that I have ever seen. A passenger even asked what they do with the money and that is the first time I have ever seen them break character and tell them where it goes. I always try to give a little to Share it Forward. Was told the reason for the heavy crowd was due to Friday's weather being so bad they gave out rain checks to quite a few folks. Also talked to several citizens on Saturday who had problems getting to work due to the crowds. That explained why I saw so man managers working some of the stores.
-
Wow, it sounds like it was quite a day dkparks!
Ironically, Outlaw Run seems to capture most of the crowds which leaves ThuNderaTion, Wildfire, and even PowderKeg more accessible. There have been times when I visited on a Saturday, and could walk right on some of those. I'm glad to hear that the staff, and even character actors were opened armed, and very welcoming. :)
-
If the the ten day forecast holds up the second weekend of Aug will be near perfect. 80 and sunny.
-
Well here we go!, the city is hoping for BIG numbers today.. they are "projecting/hoping" for 18,000 people..
weather is clearing and should be a good day..
Have had a decent week this week,

""Park in the Dark"
-
Here is a pic from FB. has Joel Manby on Gazebo, looks like he is singing..
checked with my buds @ the city today.... sat's number----- 20,500
-
Well Rain in the Ozarks sure messed up another big weekend at SDC.
with Fridays numbers at 15,000
and sats midnite madness at 20800
sunday fell in at a weak 6600 people! too bad they were hoping for 14,000 or so for the last day of moonlight madness..
-
It looks like the weather in Branson has been hot, wet, and humid. Fun times! I am very much ready for the cooler, drier, Canadian air to filter into the area. Those make for the BEST Silver Dollar City days. ;D
-
That and the craft festival. I think they should promote a music festival along with it. Didn't they used to promote the bluegrass more in the fall?
-
It used to be the Festival of American Music and Craftsmanship. We miss the different music during the Fall Festival.
-
Well here we go again, waking up to drizzle and a slow rain, will be moving out soon. Hoping for a good day at the city!!!.
with rain last Thursday there were only about 7,000 people
Friday 12,000
Sat, a near perfect day, no records, but 15,500
heres hopin for a decent sunday.. ::)
-

My husband and I miss it, too. Really liked having so many different groups playing in the park.

The Ark/MoMo line has been inundated with ran. A person from Mt. Home stated it had rained 17 straight days there on Sat. Morning. The wife went to visit her Dad over in Boxley Valley and said the water at the Ark 21 bridge was to the steel supports with vehicles loads with rafts and kayaks coming from all directions. This is bonus time for those types and they have had several this year getting floatable water this late.

Hot and dry all week this week.... predicting mid 90's for labor day weekend
number??
last fri 7500
sat 11000
sun 8500
mon 5500-- hot!
summers crowd over? maybe during the week.. last full week of being open.
-
Hot yes, dry not so much. If dry means no rain then yes, you are correct. The humidty is crazy
-
Dry- No rain.. yes
Humidity you say? last 3 days we hav e been 71 degrees for overnite low and 87 - 89% humidity in the morning~!!!!........ :-\
-
All I'm saying is that if you ride any wet rides, you will end up staying that way all day.
-
They have those crazy blowers that you pay to step into, and it blows you dry! Haven't ever tried it but...
-
The Haystack dryer works well when it works, however they were no working on Sunday (out of order)
-
no record breaking crowd today, a lot of people, but short on the record...
20,000 today, respectable... PTB should like that for an "off" weekend.. :)
last weekend only had a total of 23,000 on both days. :-\
-
We were there on Labor day Sunday and it was sparse for sure. But the rain was off and on all day till about 2 or so.
-
I am sure labor day weekend was a huge disappointment for PTB, with 12,000 on sat and 11,000 on sunday.. Not a very strong weekend, along with the previous week,,,,
tues,wed,thurs,friday-- only had a total of about 20,000. and that took four days to get..!!!.
I would like ot know the number of cox employees/family members were there sat.., but with my friends at the city, no way to track that number.
-

It was oppressively hot on Labor Day weekend. Hottest of the year.
-
It was hot last weekend, I was there sunday... bad, asphalt was so hot it even smelled funny!!!
HOT?? yea hot!! today the count is/was only around 4500 people!! :o :o :o,
Be interesting to see next weeks number with the fall festival starting up..
-
We're hoping to get down there a week or two either side of Oct 1. I don't mind the heat so much--I wear wool in it, after all!--but these past few and next few weeks are Busy!

We were there Sunday on labor day weekend and the rain in the morning combined with the heat and humidity in the afternoon was a real killer I am sure. I also question the decision to put the gospel music festival on the last big holiday of the summer. Seems to me they would want more emphasis on getting the families back one more time. I know we won't be going back on that weekend anymore because of lack of shows and entertainment we might like. But , maybe it draws a big crowd ?
-
Runner, I wondered the same thing about that decision... (Gospel during Labor Day)?..
I know the Gospel Festival is a BIG draw, But I for sure think the Limited shows for the "general" public on labor day makes a difference..
With the rain sunday morning and lack of options, we were out of there by noon or so, it was already heating up..
I think for the Gospel fans they should extend the festival, but maybe the 3 weeks BEFORE labor day.. (just like they extended Bluegrass-BBQ)
I dont know how hard it would be to make a full schedule for Labor day, for the general puclic. But that may be the way to go.
-
I'm not sure how many were at the park on 9/7/13, but let me tell you - it was absolutely packed! CoxHealth had an employee appreciation day. They provided free tickets for all their employees plus their families. I was told by a Cox employee that 24,000 free tickets were distributed. The park stayed open until 10:00pm, but you had to have a blue wristband identifying you as a Cox employee in order to ride anything.
-
Outlaw run, sat the 7th, there were approx. 20,000 - 20,500 people there... yes that would be quite a crowd. had not heard they stayed open late..
Not sure I agree that only cox people could stay and ride? after all, the rest of the people also paid for their tickets and put up with the crowd all day too>>????
-
24,800...crAzy crowd...
-
tinman, if there were 24,800........ wouldn't that be a all time high? can you verify that?.
My sis and brother in law were there, said it was BUSY!, but they enjoyed it.. had not been there for close to 15 years~!~~

It is not really that unusual in the theme park industry for special events and something called a park buyout to happen. I was at one in the Magic Kingdom one time. The park never advertised extra hours, but after 10 p.m. The attractions were closed to everyone except those with a wristband. I only saw 1 upset person who threw quite a fit when she could not enter splash mountain.
-
Not close to an all time high...the count was 12,000 by 11am, the rest came in between then & 7pm...
-
Runner, IF it was scheduled that way. I would understand and agree.. ;D ;D
BUT if during the day, the PTB decided to stay open late and only accomadate the Cox group, I don't feel that would be fair...
Important thing is everybody enjoy themselves and have fun.
-
Sanddune, I agree with your agree. ;D
-
I have a friend whose mother works for Cox and went to the Cox day last weekend. I do know that it was arranged ahead of time for the Cox employees/family to be able to stay after "park close" to 10. I'm sure fun was had by all (but I personally stay away if at all possible on days like that!).

My friend and I were at Magic Kingdom for one of their "Extra Magic Hours" nights last year. The extra hours are for guests who are staying in Disney resorts. They don't use wristbands anymore, though; you just show them your "Key to the World" card (which is your hotel room key, charge card, ticket card, etc) and they let you into the attraction. A lot of people were wearing clear card lanyards so they didn't have to keep digging out their cards at each attraction (something my friend and I had to do, lol).
I think it'd be awesome if SDC ever eventually has a resort, they set up a similar program for resort guests.
Back to being more on topic: how's the attendance been? Looks like this thread hasn't been updated in about a month.
-
the last 4 weeks or so they have been rung 8-10 thousand on Friday, 12-14 on sat, 6-8 on sunday, however this last sunday they had over 10,ooo there.. great day..
-
We were at SDC this past weekend. I asked the guy on the back of the tram Saturday as we were leaving how many they had that day, he told me 11,000 and they were expecting 12,000. The Saturday morning rain may have kept a few people away. He also told me they were expecting 9,000 Sunday. Since Sanddune reported they had 10,000 it was indeed a good Sunday for them.
-
I'd expect a big weekend this weekend because most of the Oklahoma schools are on Fall Break. We'll be headed up on Friday and Saturday ourselves.
Jay
-
cowboy, good chanve of a good weekend there.. this is also the last full weekend of the fall festival... next weekend they are actually closed on sunday. final prep for OTC,.
-

also arts and crafts fair weekend in NWA. No clue if the blue hairs that hit that stuff hit SDC some but it brings in folks from out of town.
-
Geezzzzz....so I'm a "blue hair?" :P ;) ;D
-
Geezzzzz....so I'm a "blue hair?" :P ;) ;D
as soon as I posted that, I read an article in the paper about the Spanker Creek fair and it quoted some blue hairs err... older ladies from Okie and they said they were going to finish with the crafts fairs today and head to Branson to ride roller coasters. So some discounted coffee drinkers do coordinate the arts and crafts fairs with SDC trips.
-
my sons in the Yukon school district were out last week. however my little daughter goes to more and they were out this week.
-
Hey Okie. Do you live in Yukon, or is it just your son? My parents are in Mustang.
-
I live in SW OKC now but I lived in Yukon for years and years and still play guitar for Canadian Hills church of the Nazarene
-
Well the last day of fall festival saw 9600 people.... They were "expecting" 10,500......
COME ON OTC!!!!
-
I am definitely not going to Silver Dollar City on Thanksgiving again this year! It was too crowded that Saturday. :-X :)
However, I do plan to attend sometime during Old Time Christmas.
-
we will be in branson thanksgiving weekend...SDC on sunday... crowd will have died down by sunday I think/hope
-

That's about the best day to go. When hubs and I started going, it was dead on Thanksgiving, but busy the next day. Now it's just as bad as the day after, and the day before isn't too far behind.
-
1st day OTC .?
12,100.. nice start of the season
-
Big day at the city yestarday,(sat),, ove 17,000 people.... what a great day, no rain, wind, clouds and in the mid 60's.
Not really OTC weather but.....................
-
Another beautiful day.. Had over 11,000 at the city on sunday, The PTB was only projecting 8,000..
with almost 18 there on sat... that's is a pretty good weekend number ...
everybody should be happy with that!!
-
With today being a holiday for so many, I thought Sunday would be super crowded! The weather was nice too, wasn't it?
-
Hey all. Would anyone have a guesstimation of what it is going to be like as far as projected attendance Thursday 14 or Friday 15? We are considering going down and would rather go on Thursday, but might not be able to until Friday. Friday Crowds kind of worry us though, with four kids and two strollers. :o
-
Either of those days will be alright- attendance will probably be around 8,000 on Thr and 8,500 on Fri. There is a chance of rain on Fri. Friday tends to be a little busier then Thr, but not much unless school is out.
-
Hatfield,, I wouldn't think their would be any kind of a crowd on thurs/Friday. 6 -8,000 each day maybe.. GO!! ENJOY!! weather should be warmer too.!! :)
-
Do what Sanddune suggested. He's pretty good about tracking attendance and weather for us. Have a great time!
-
Beautiful weather today at SDC. Not much of a crowd early in the day. Great buffet of turkey and ham. We really enjoyed It's a Wonderful Life.
-
Thanks guys! We took your advice and were able to go on Thursday. The crowd was light and the lines incredibly short. We really had a good time. It was a semi-birthday trip for my little girl and she had a blast. Funnel cakes, and puppets for her and her little brother. Great trip! This site still impresses me with helpful inside knowledge.
Thanks again.
-
Congrats Hatfield.. glad you all had a good visit..
-
My brother was at SDC yesterday ( Thursday the 21st ) said the weather was gloomy & about mid 50s. Also said there was about 1800 people there. We plan on going today, i have seen the forecast.... Keep ya posted..

WOW!! 1800??
march/april we were there one sunday it was cold, snowing, they cancelled the sons from singing at the gazebo..
no rides..too cold
by noon they had only 200 people in park..
I think that day was like 500!!!
-
I know days like that aren't good for the park, but I have to say they can be my favorite. It's like you have the park to yourself. You can meander around the streets instead of be in a crush of people. It's like SDC is your real small-town home. Those days are magic for me.

The first year they started Black Friday was like that! It was cold, but sunny, and we felt we had the park to ourselves. None of the rides and very few concessions were open, but it was great just walking around with very few people. I loved it!

It was cold, drizzly, windy yesterday in Branson. We could have gone to the city last night but just didn't want to be outside. When we got back to Homestay the steps leading up to the second floor were slick with a slight ice glaze.
-
10,000 people braved sat's weather..
-
WOW!! wha a weekend for the city.. I don't have numbers for wed/thurs.... But I can tell you Friday, 19,000, sat-19,000......sund, 10,000..... wow!
48,000 for the 3 days... I think that is the best 3 day weekend of the year... anybody agree/disagree??
-
Good thing too. The weather for the next two weekends look formidable. Even likely going to bring my duck whackage to an iced up halt. 48 ducks, 4 guns and 2 glorious days in the timber Fri and Sat.
-
Anybody know what year to date attendance is and how it compares to last year?
-
If anyone know about yearly attendance, it will be Sanddune.
-
I was there Saturday and it was a wonderful trip to the City.
-
not sure about year to date stats, but I am sure there is someone here that could check with the office.. I think there last "announcement" said they were about about 10%
-
^UP about 10%, that is.
-
yea right... up about 10%..
Thanks history buff

Received an email that the city will be open on Wednesday 12/18. Guess they're trying to make up for the days they were closed due to the weather.
-
Bone chilling on Saturday! The tram is enough to turn us all into Frozen Charlottes.
We were finally able to see It's a Wonderful Life, at the 1:00 time, as the crowd was not bad. Frosty was really cold, and I don't care to sit outside like that ever again in subfreezing. We finally ducked into the cave to warm up. The crowd was still picking up when we left, but thankfully we had only a minute wait for the Polar Express tram to take us back to our vehicle. Didn't they used to put plastic on at least one side of the tram?

That was my thought as well. We'll be going either Wednesday or Thursday (either day has good temps if we want to try to squeeze in some last rides of the year).

I was part of the 10000 that day. Wow that was a cold ride on the open air trams back and forth. It was bone chilling to say the least, but we had a good time despite the limited attraction openings.
-
Glad you had a good time,. I was surprised when sundays count was 9800 people... 2 pretty good days for December..
-
Cold, cold weekend. I don't think I would've gone if I had the chance! Brrrrr!
-
Wed the 18th... they drew in a little over 7000 people.. so I would say for being unscheduled they had a good turn out..
-
It was an awesome day to visit. Glad my family went
-
Anyone know what the crowds will be like the Friday-Monday after Christmas?
-
Swoosh! glad you were finally able to make it..
-
Swoosh! glad you were finally able to make it..
I second that! Is there still snow on the ground?

We went 2 years ago between Christmas and New Year and it was very light for attendance. Lots of sales in the shops but not much running attraction wise because of cold weather. Can't speak for this year though.

Other than a few small patches here and there that are in the shade all day, it has all melted.
-
Another POOR wintery day for the city today... mid 30's and has been raining all day..
As of about 5 this evening only about 2200 people at the park... the PTB were expecting 15,000 :o :o
-
I don't mind walking in the rain, but cold, sleety rain…Yikes!
-
Again, I am so glad we decided to go on Wednesday this week. PERFECT weather.
-
Swoosh glad you got your "perfect" day wed........ because the perfectly nasty day sat, the city ended up with about 3300....
]
good news for me.. only 1 1/2" of snow, and the clouds have cleared out here..!!

As I read this thread it seems like the PTB constantly over or under estimate the crowds on a regular basis. SDC must have a better way of doing this than they do now. Whoever is in charge should look at how they do the estimates. Does anyone know how they do this ? Pull a number out of a hat ? ;D

I just wish there was a good walk path to the parking lots like lot 3. After the first parade it was a stampede to the shuttle area. There were so many folks trying to go through the last gift shop it was packed like sardines. Lesser guests could have lifted stuff easily.
What I've learned from years past is to just walk to the first stop on the 1 2 3 trolley and board after the first drop and continue to 3 on the trolley. Save yourself over 15 minutes.
-
quite a day so far at the city today......
at 2:00, 11,000 people
at 4:00 16,000 people
at 7:00 23,000 people.
and they just announced will be open until 10:30... MAN!! wish we were there..!!!

When I was at the park, we were always told that "the numbers" were for internal use only, and discussion (especially posting them for others to see) was a breach of our privacy agreement that we signed (and still sign) today. As for the "PTB", they want a certain number each year (budgeted attendance) and they divide that number between all of the operating days, giving historicaly busier days a larger budget number. You may be way wrong (on either end), but that day last year may have been bad weather, or great weather. Next year, on their last Saturday, budget will be really high because attendance has been through the roof the last three years on the last Saturday of the season. I hope that clears up things a little...

I suggest a last night celebration on the 31st complete with fireworks at 12.

Sunday quite a bit cooler and the crowd must be tired,,,,, sunday: only 7100!!!!
1 more day!.. we will be there at noon Monday!
supposes to meet tinman at the "fire truck" about noon....
-
Monday was cold... (felt cold anyway).. supposed to be sunny and fiurty.. That didn't happen... TNT was the only coaster running (I think). FITH, FM were getting worked overtime. LOL..
Last day of the year...... little over 9000 people were on hand to see the end of the season,
