Just noticed SDC has a new website up.
-
I like it a lot better than the other one they had up.... It doesn't run very well though. It starts out showing the whole page then it cuts half the webpage off after about 10 seconds of having the page loaded.
-
hmmm... i will have to play with it a while to make an opinion..... :-\
-
I like the new interactive map.
-
It takes a ridiculously long amount of time to load, but that's probably just my internet connection. >:(
Does the new website have more images than the old one? that may be why it won't work for me.
-
I kinda like the old one better.
-
Played with it a while last nite.. not impressed,,,(but of course I am so used to the old one)... However it is here to stay, I am sure they will do some tweaking.
Like the map, wish we could could actually zoom in a little closer, and right now not all of the "markers" is working..(on my puter anyway).
I could not find the ride qualifiers for weather.. someone had posted sbout weather and outlaw run..I did not find that page..
oh well, it will be a learning expierence.. ;D
-
They definitely used a lot of higher resolution images, and the page contains quite a bit of javascript, but I really like the new page layout. Modern look and I think it is easier to navigate. Here is a link to the rides page, it actually has search criteria for finding the ride you want. http://www.silverdollarcity.com/theme-park/attractions/rides.aspx

Sure are a lot of images of people pointing at things with there mouth's open! haha
Typical tourism images.
-
reading the "rules" about riders with/without disabilities........ :o :o :o :o
WOW!! they are realy getting detailled about who can and cant ride. read it for yourself....

I was noticing how specific the rules were on the sign outside Outlaw Run. I think it's probably in reaction to the war vet who fell out of a coaster and died: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2012832/Darien-Lake-Iraq-war-veteran-James-Hackemer-dies-roller-coaster-fall.html

Insurance, lawsuits and all that stuff :( I've spent some time on the site today, and I don't feel like it organized very well. Had trouble finding park hours of operation.
-
I kinda like the old one better.
Me, too! It's not as pretty. Like Sanddune, I'll play with it when I have more time.
-
Joy.. I am sure your right about that.... they are being very explit about "torso length".. and having both feet to brace with or hands to hold on with...
It really sounds odd to read..
-
Anybody find on the new site where the "schedules and Brochures" are at now??????
Have not been able to find it yet :-X :-X :-X
-
I don't think the new website works on Firefox or Chrome; I can only get it to work on Internet Explorer.
-
It will take some getting used to but will be alright, I'm sure.
-
At the top of the website is a heading "park calendars". Hit the drop down and select the park you want. A calendar should pop up on the left side. Select the date you want and it should give you the hours as well as the entertainment schedule for the day.
-
Smoke, thanks.. I had seen that, didnt realize the show schedule would be there.. thanks...
pulled it up, check for sunday, gives time and who it is... BUT does not say what locations the entertainers will be at?
Am i missing something?
-
AND it does not show up on the interactive map..? hmmm??
-

It worked fine on Firefox for me, so idk.
-
It works on Chrome for me, but a bit slowly.
-
I like the look of the new website better than the look of the old website. I always thought the old website (and brochures) looked too modern for an 1880's theme park. This one is still pretty modern looking, but not as bad. I would still like to see more 1880's theming on the website and brochures.

I'll second that.

I spoke with an employee with a long history at the park who told me each season there is less SDC, more generic amusement park. SDC is a unit of a large corporation now. Again, SDC is still by far a superior product. I hope enough "flavor" will remain in the years to come. I was disappointed when I heard that remark, but I have to agree with it.
-
Personally, I like the old website better...to me it was more authenic and fit the theme of an 1880's western town...the new website looks too modern...makes me think of the "not in mrs. mary's time" thread...i haven't played around with the site too much but I can say I just don't like the look as I don't feel it fits the SDC theme...just my opinion though (I do try to be open to change)

No question about it, the new website is sleeker, and has a more high-tech interface. The old website was a bit dated, but the new one doesn't capture the spirit of Silver Dollar City. Probably because the website focuses on Silver Dollar City Attractions, and not just Silver Dollar City itself.
The only thing that subconsciously irks me is the background map art behind the logos which looks like it belongs on a Pirates of the Caribbean movie poster.
-
That back ground on the Web site is, I think, an old map of Marvel Cave.
