Received a copy of the SDC Times yesterday. Had a lot of info about the entertainment during the various festivals this year. Looks like there is more entertainment this year (yay!) ;D. Also had some coupons for Ride the Ducks, the Track and Dixie Stampede. Mainly it was a mailing to encourage season pass sales.

I received mine yesterday as well. It confirmed that Headin West was gone as it says they are bringing back music to the Opera House during the Harvest Festival. They are going to have Riders in the Sky back this year. I have always enjoyed them at SDC. It also talked about their 4th of July bash and their country music weekend in September. I think it said they are having Diamond Rio and Pam Tillis in on that weekend.

My parents got theirs a few days ago. I didn't notice much that we hadn't heard already besides the fact that there will be a new Bubble show during kidsfest ::)

I hope it's just a show and viewer participation is not encouraged or at least contained to the show area. As if dribbling basketballs wasn't enough imagine a few thousand kids blowing bubbles in your face all over the park. ;D

Do you guys remember?...years ago in Tom Sawyers Landing there was a bubble exhibit where you could step onto a tray filled with a sudsy solution and someone standing outside would pull a hoop up by rope, encasing you entirely in a great big bubble.

^I've got pictures of me standing inside those as a kid! That's good they're bringing that back to the park.
The thing that interested me from this issue of the Times is the show LUMA during KidsFest. It says it's an enLIGHTening stage show that centers around Marvel Cave. I like to see they're incorporating the cave into entertainment, especially during KidsFest. Does anyone have anymore information on this show?

^^Coaster, are they bringing those back? I didn't mean to imply that they were...I don't know one way or another. I was just remembering them because of the talk above about bubbles.
As for the show that "centers around the cave", I haven't heard a thing. However, when CC closed, I made the suggestion to various people that they take the big laser from the CC night-time show and put it down in the cathedral room for a laser light show. I'm not saying that's what it is, but I always thought a laser light show down there would be real cool.

I had to do a history project about defining moments in my life. I scanned a bunch of pictures of Branson and SDC from when I was really little. Mom had me email her the pics and they are set as her slideshow screensaver and there is a picture of my dad and sister in that bubble thing.

I didn't get my times either! :( Those bubble things were popular at PTO school functions a few years ago. Kids love them. That would be kind of cool at SDC as I'm sure they could do it up right! Much better idea than...bubbles to the left ~ bubbles to the right.

Was in utter shock when I returned home from work today to open my mailbox and see the SDC Times! This is the first time we have ever received one, we usually end up reading my parents, who seem to always get one.
To clarify some confusion, here is what it states about the bubble show.
"NEW Gazillion Bubbles featuring amazing masterpieces of bubble artistry on the grand stage with lasers and spectacular light effects."
We saw this exact same show at Dollywood in July of 2011. The picture in the times shows the same guy and everthing. Personally, I thought it was a really good show, everyone, of all ages seemed to enjoy it.

Nice weather in January and elementary kids aren't a good match learning. After about 150 "Is it recess time? yets, and after-school reading, I knew my Times would be waiting for me - :D

Do people usually get one per family or one per passholder? We only get one. They're always addressed to me, but the passes were ordered and arrived in DH's name. Odd. Also, my parents still got one for a few years after we stopped purchasing passes. I hoarded those things. ;D

We've been through this several times but can't really find a common theme. I've heard that if there's a female in the household that's who will get it, but like every other "rule" regarding the times there's always exceptions. Someone posted once that they really are nothing more than mass marketing ads, randomly targeted and I'd say that's about as close to accurate as can be. I've got them, my wife's got them, none of us have got them and a couple of days ago my MIL got one even though she only bought a season pass once and that was 4 years ago. You'll have better luck solving Pi than figuring out who does and doesn't get a Times.

Yeah, we chose the perfect week to be there; low crowds, not too hot, and we missed the low temps & snow here in MO! :-) I'll be putting a trip review up in the Other Parks board within the next couple days. There are a few things I have to say in relation to SDC (in a positive way) that I can't wait to tell ya'll.

Still nothing. >:( I'm throwing in the towel I guess. For those of us diehards I think one of the season pass perks should be guaranteeing you'll receive each copy of the Times for the year your pass is valid. I just don't get their logic. I used at least one coupon out of every issue I got last year, and those were BAF discounts. When I presented them at the ticket booth they wrote my season pass, customer number (or whatever it is) on the coupon so they know full well is using the offers they're sending out. Still no MBA here, (see post about Shorty Smalls) but it would seem if a known marketing tactic is working you would keep using it.

Yeah, got mine last week, kinda surprised because I don't always get one when you folks mention it. Plus it is always addressed to my wife, who has not always had a season pass and does not buy them and does not ride any of the rides and does not buy a roll every time from the bakery and does not go to the Southern Gospel Picnic...well, you get the idea.

It's a pdf file so I could easily print it. I doubt they would accept them though since usually the coupons are good for one or two people per visit. If all you had to do was keep printing them off there wouldn't be much point in putting a limit on them. I will ask though.

I got mine yesterday. LOTS of great coupons! Admission coupons: 2/$25 (Now through Aug 12); 2/$20 (Aug 24 through Sept 3); 2/$25 (Sept 13 through Oct 27). And then a whole half page of various merch coupons.

How does one get a copy? Sounds like some great coupons on single day admission (which is all i'd need, as opposed to 2 days for price of one).

Sometimes SDC sends them out randomly in the general service region of the park (sections of 9 states) Some people who are season pass holders get them (like me) and have you used a credit card on park? (My guess is they used that to track you in some way and sent you a "Times" because you are a preferred customer.)

I am getting really tired of never getting my SDC times.. I purchase 5 season passes a year and in the last 2 years I have only recieved it 2 times. I called today and was told that I should have already recieved it. I asked if they could resend it and they told me no that they are not able to do it.

I get one about half the time, so I feel your pain. Why don't you try calling again and asking to speak with administrative personnel? Let them know that you may not be a multiple pass holder in the future if they don't take you serious? This makes me mad. Customer service should work with you on this. Once, a few years ago I was able to talk them into sending me a copy, but I had push them like a used car salesman.

Haven't received my copies of the Times yet, either. >:(We use the coupons when we get the Times. I consider the coupons to be a benefit of being a season pass holder. I consider the coupons to be a far greater benefit than the BAFs. I would much rather get food, beverage, and merchandise discounts as a season pass holder benefit instead of BAFS.

Well after talking to the very rude lady in coustomer service I am rethinking taking my brother and his 4 children next week. That would have been 6 2 day passes. But I haven't been treated so badly in all the years I have been going. So I may just not go this time. All I wanted was my Times. Guess no one at Sdc really cares since they already have my cash for my 4 season passes.

If you are listening SDC, like we hear you are, a very nice perk to the early season pass purchase would be a guaranteed delivery of each Times. It is very frustrating not to get one and I do use a lot of the coupons to buy things that I normally would not buy. So you are making money from this. Not only that, but I also use the one day coupons in addition to my BAF's. Once again, you are getting people in the park that would not normally go and they aren't drinking water and eating an apple they carried in with them either. Seems like this would be so simple to do, passholder=Times. Every time.

Apparently I caused a bit of confusion judging by the generous offers of help. I did receive this issue of the Times. My rant was mainly about the hit and miss nature of it as there have been several occasions when I didn't get one. I'm also hoping someone at SDC is reading this and listening because I do believe it would be a great "perk" to offer guaranteed delivery of each issue to passholders for the season(s) they purchase passes. Might even entice more people to buy passes knowing they're going to get some great coupons throughout the year.
