Pretty neat find on YouTube

That is pretty neat. Thanks for pointing it out, Swoosh. It's funny to hear them talk about going back 100 years. Of course that commercial is from the mid-1980s, so you really were going back about 100 years to the 1880s theme of the park.
The last part makes the cave sound really creepy. :o Who knew the secret of the Lost River, the Fountain of Youth, is really just a waterfall that quits just as you get to it? :D
-
Extremely neat find indeed. I love seeing the effects these old favorites brought to the park when they were new. I just wish the Lost River kept more of its theme intact; hardly anyone except for those who visit this site know what the ride actually is besides a fun boat ride.
-
Great find Swoosh! I do wish they would theme that cave. As far as I can remember there has been a skull with water falling from it on the ride, has it always been like that?

For as long as I can remember, and I've been going to SDC on a regular basis since '87 or '88.

Wow cool video! What does the skull even have to do with the ride anyway?
-
Lost River never followed through with its promise to tell its "secret". From the first year, the "cave" has been virtually empty. Just a little scene of the Fountain of Youth - even a projection - would complete the ride.
-
Heck, even a projection of the scene where Indy drinks from the Holy Grail in The Lost Crusade would help people make the connection.
As it is, the cave is just dark with rapids. Not only did SDC fail to deliver on its promise of revealing the secret of the Lost River, it seems as if the Lost River never even had a secret to tell.
