One of the things I like to do during my spare time is to make Silver Dollar City fan art with Microsoft Paint. I thought this would be a great way to share my doodles with all of you, and for you to share any of your fan art as well.
One thing you will notice about my drawings is that they are not exact recreations of the various attractions at Silver Dollar City, nor are they intended to be. Their designs have simply been inspired by the actual attractions, and they are just for fun.
If you have any fan art please share it as well! :)

-
Cool work Ozark!!
-
Thanks sanddunerider, and coaster! ;D
I am having trouble deciding which attraction I should try to draw next though? ???
-
Draw the saloon! Echo Hollow would be neat too...OOOH or you could go for the classic look and draw the old Rube Dugan's Diving Bell!! Then there's Wildfire of course!
Just a few ideas for ya. :D
-
Oh i know! draw a "new" woodie to be placed in the WW area.
-
The church, the Homestead, the cave train
-
First off this was a great display of affection tward SDC. Second of all thank you for taking the time and patience for creating these photos. Third of all keep on going.
-
Wow, those are really cool!
-
Thanks for the support, and extra motivation everyone! ;D
I was kind of in a slump about what to try next, but you all have some really great ideas. Oh how I love it when the cobwebs get dusted off, and the cogs in my imagination start turning! :D
-
I think the buildings would be awesome
-
Definitely will do! ;D
I also just finished, and uploaded my rendition of the Ride the Ducks vehicle, and the Branson Belle steamboat. :)
-
all I can say is wow. What ever I make looks like someone took a devlin all over it. Great Job!
-
Thanks Trams!
I need better software since Microsoft Paint is very limited on what it can do. More to come! ;D
-
Might look into some of the GNU stuff, Ozark
-
Yeah, I live under a rock. What does GNU stand for? ;D
-
Sometimes I forget we are not all geeks like me
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html)
Basically open source software
-
u might want to also check out and i believe it is called like Draw Pro 8. It is amazing and it has a free 2 week trial!!!! I am a fellow nerd
-
Excellent ideas folks!
Also, there is nothing wrong with being a fellow nerd. I am totally a Silver Dollar City nerd. I think I spend more time on here with all of you than I do with some of my own family. ;)
-
omg ozark u do not want to be part of my dysfunctional family!!! run away fast they fruit cakey!
-
I'm glad you chimed in MissinTheGreenTrams cause I just finished drawing the old green trams just for you! ;D

-
Ahh green trams ;D. Nice.
-
I think you need to start offering your pictures for sale.
Those are great
-
Thanks everyone! I just put up my most recent doodle of the Titanic Museum. Although I still need to add a few more details before it is done. :)
-
Looks really good Ozark
-
Nice job on the Titanic as usual!
thanks again ozark, for letting me copy!
-
You betcha sanddunerider! ;D

As most of you know, I enjoy making computer artwork of my favorite attractions at Silver Dollar City. Again, my artwork has never been intended to be an exact reproduction of each attraction, but rather my artwork has simply been inspired by them.
However, my original design of Thunderation missed the mark so poorly, that I decided to do it over again. To refresh everyone’s memory, here is the link to my first attempt at Thunderation.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozarkbbq/5786921326/in/photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozarkbbq/5786921326/in/photostream)
Now, here is my second attempt. This time, I paid more attention to detail, and I was able to reflect both train number 7, and train number 13.

So what do you think? Was it an improvement, or not so much? :)
-
I prefer the newer version myself
-
Thanks Rube! ;D
If I have time, I am going to attempt Fire in the Hole this week. :)
-
ahhhh your pictures never disappoint me!
-
Great job! Looks a lot more like Thunderation!
-
Thanks you guys! ;D
I came across something interesting while I was studying photographs of Thunderation. At the bottom of two, or three of the cars is the wording “Jackson & Peters Consolidated Mining Co.” which is obviously a homage to Jack, and Pete. :)
-
How about a gandy dancer? I might have to try one of those myself!
-
Do it Rube! :)
All I use is the standard Microsoft Paint. However, this thread is for anyone who wants to display anytype of artwork about Silver Dollar City.
-
I had about 20 min. tonight so I started a Gandy Dancer...Getting there....Hopefully I will finish it soon! It is a 3-D rendering of the old SDC ride made on Google Sketchup.

-
Awesome work Rube!
You definitely have an eye for dimensions, and details. I can't wait to see the finished product. :)
-
oh no! may have to start a folder for drawings now!
-
Here are several views, along with me in the real view. It is totally interactive, and can be viewed from all sides.
I will upload it to Google Sketchup so if anyone wants to download it they can.

For some reason, I am still confused on where the exact location of Gandy Dancer was; Looks like I see Shanty Town in the background.
Drawing looks great btw!
-
You should put some flowers in and add it to the Google Maps where the current Gandy cart is being used as a flower bed.

The entrance to River Blast is pretty close to where the tracks were. I think they might have been slightly farther down the hill. The tracks were still there until they started RB construction in 08. We have some photos here: http://sdcfans.com/photos/user/24
-
So I got bored these past couple of weeks, and made some new additions.
River Blast
PowderKeg
Fire in the Hole
Enjoy! :D

a solid ten as usual! Great job!
-
I love all the detail in each picture, great job.
I had just noticed you did the Hospitality House too, looks really good.
-
another great job ozark!! LOVE the HH.
-
Riverblast is great! I think one of my favorites is still the tram, and Titanic is good as well!
-
Thanks Trams, Dollar, Sand, and Rube! You guys are awesome. You all are what motivates me to do these. :)
Coming up next week, I am going to try the Flooded Mine, and do a better Train.
-
Butterfield Stage Coach?
-
Absolutely, but I need pictures Rube. That way I have something to model it on. :)
-
I will put a few up on the Wayback machine thread for ya!
http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=522.msg34741#msg34741 (http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=522.msg34741#msg34741)
It is a typical Butterfield Stage Coach
The Door said "Silver Dollar City"
I have photos of my and my sister in it as kids...not too sure where the coach is stored these days. I haven't seen it for about 4 yrs since I saw it during the Fall Festival.
-
Thanks Rube! ;D
I am definitely adding this to my queue line! There is so much detail with the Butterfield Stage Coach that it will probably take about a week to complete after I start work on it.
Currently, I am overhauling my train engine drawing because the original just missed the mark so poorly. More to come, including the Butterfield Stage Coach! :D
-
Like a true artist, always reworking and never being satisfied!
-
cant wait to see what you bring us!!! good luck!
-
The train whistle has blown! ;D
I have finally finished my new, and improved train (the old, original train can be found towards the bottom of my flickr page). I decided to base my computer artwork on Engine 43. More to come, including an overhauled American Plunge / Lost River of the Ozarks, and of course the Butterfly Stagecoach which will most certainly be a challenge. :)

Does the SDC facebook page let the general public upload photo's to its wall or anything? If so, you should show them your drawings, i'd think they'd get a kick out of seeing them!
-
I like the details, and the little touches like taking time to create a nice header/ title for the images rather than just plain text, these all fit the pictures to the theme greatly.
-
another great job ozark! great details..
-
Here is a detail of the door/ lettering on the stagecoach from SDC
Stagecoach (http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=522.msg35104#new)
-
The Butterfield Stagecoach has arrived! ;D
It was a bit of a challenge to include details since initially I was working from just one picture of the stagecoach, and because I never had the opportunity to see the original stagecoach in person.
Thanks for the inspiration Rube! Although the passenger windows on the first stagecoach picture are different from the passenger windows on the second one. Are they both the same stagecoach, or did Silver Dollar City have more than one?
More to come including an overhauled Wildfire drawing, and something special for the Old Time Christmas festival. ;D

what an amazing job you did! magnificent! :D
-
Just as I remember it! Great Job. I believe the city had at least 2 different stages...
-
I believe the city had at least 2 different stages...
Hm, I did not know that. Now, I will have to draw the second one too. Thanks, Rube! ::) :D
-
another great job ozark!
-
New additions! :)
Inspiration Tower
Wildfire

once again, VERY well done!
-
AAAWWWWWWEEEESSSOOOMMEEEE!!!
-
More great pics!! Job well done!
-
Nice Going! I am in the process of making a Grandfathers Mansion in Google Sketchup-the same program I made my ore cart in. 3D!!! Maybe you need to give that one a try too how about Grandfather's Mansion?
-
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Rube, I like your thinking. I definitely need something better than the primitive Microsoft Paint. You should totally try Grandfather’s mansion! ;D
-
MS Paint is doing well for you, I think it suits the ideas very well!
-
Missed out on these when they were new ozark, but you are quite an artist... They look really good.
-
Thanks okie!! ;D
They are not perfect but they pass the time, and help fill in the void between trips to the city. I still do them, and will have more to come. :)

Excerpt from the SDC wiki - entry for 1960:
Silver Dollar City opens on top of Marvel Cave. The General Store, The Doll Shop, Wilderness Church, a hotel, The Homestead Cabins, and a stagecoach ride are added to the site to accompany Marvel Cave.
The two stage coaches were purchased for $5,000 from Adventure Town in Alexandria Bay, New York. One of the coaches was made in 1888 in a small town in New Hampshire, while the other once belonged to the Vanderbilt family.
