Two weeks until our Spring Break - - - We may spend a portion of it at (guess where!).
Tell us when you'll be at SDC, this year, and maybe some of our paths will cross.

Sat afternoon april 23rd, Sat Nite Circle B in branson,
Sunday SDC closed, Monday home
Sat May 21st SOTH in the evening, sunday SDC and GAC,
Monday- Showboat then home
Thats my rough schedule through may. I may cancel the trip on the 3rd. Mainly going because I have never "seen" the YCW..
i am anxious to see the new GAC show, the new Showboat shows and of course HDH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As of right now, we plan to come March 19th. After that, who knows! We never plan since we live only an hour and a half away.

We may try for the 20th.
Sundays are always good days for me to travel and the crowds arent bad.
We will need a report on the attendence on opening day. Is it usually busy or was it just the 50th ( the no pay off hype) that caused it to be busy?

But i can't help but wonder with the schools doing make up days, and spring break being 2 weeks long. How busy will they really be?

My wife and I don't have typical Sat/Sun weekends, so depending if we are both off on 3/17 we plan on taking a day trip for opening day.

same here dollar, my weekends are usually sunday/monday.. wife takes off early on sat 3 or 4 times a year so we can catch sat evening shows..

So who is scheduled to be at SDC Sunday the 20th?
I will drive down in the morning, should be there by noon or so.
I would love to meet anybody that would happen to be in the area.

We plan on going to Branson March 23-25. We won't go into SDC until the 24th, though. We'll drive down on the 23rd, and we think we'll make a stop at Springfield's zoo on the way if the weather is nice. We're also staying at Southern Oaks. We decided to stay there so we would have an indoor pool.

I am shooting for the April 1-3. But I am not sure considering I have a big test to study for...... :-[ rats.

I'd love to go opening day, but I got that pesky work thing that gets in the way. I'm hoping by 8:35 am on Saturday the 19th, my son and I will be sitting down at Molly's with embarrassingly huge plates of pancakes. If I'm not burnt out from the crowds from Saturday and the weather is cooperative, we'll go again on Sunday the 20th. And I'm definitely staying far, far away on YCW. The only time I've been pick-pocketed in my life was at Young Christian's Weekend.

I am going some time in April. Job situation is a little volatile at the moment. Not sure which position I will be working in. If I get one of the jobs I applied for it means more money, so wish me luck, y'all.

I currently have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off work. I won't be able to visit till April 13 (First Tues. or Wed. it will be open).

Anyone plan on going Easter weekend? We missed out on opening weekend, and since we camp when we stay we're somewhat dependent to the weather which hasn't been particularly kind this year. So needless to say we're very ready to get out and Easter looks like it will be our first trip of the year.

There is a possibility my friends and I may make a trip to Branson this coming weekend, since we've got a four-day weekend for Spring Holiday (aka Easter).

The weather's got to be better than it was this weekend. Only had rides going for maybe 3 hours on Saturday due to rain and lightning. One employee said they were expecting 10,000 and got 2,000. Oh well, better luck next time I guess. We'll be going again the week following Memorial Day.

Yeah, it will be busier than any normal weekend but we won't get many opportunities to go down this year so I'll take a busy weekend over nothing.

If we go Memorial Day weekend (which we will be!), we go on Monday. We notice it tends to be much slower than the rest of the weekend and most times, we never wait in a line.

I am at Eagles Lodge right now staying in room 203. I have to leave really early tomorrow to head to my gig. I am headed to the city shortly. I have on a red dirt colored oklahoma shirt and shorts with cargo pockets. I will be there with my fiance and 3 kids. Feel free to walk up to me and introduce yourself.

i met cheesehead and her hubby sunday at the motel. nice people, He told me they made a few stops on the way down, and slept a couple of hours.. about a 24 hour trip for them... 16-17 hours driving time! MAN!!!!!
Josh how long does it take you to drive here?
Anyway, I will have on my SDC hat, and will try to be in the front porch area of the taffy shop about 10:30.... Just look fot he hat!

27 & a wake-up.. It will be one of those trips where ya get there late Fri., ( we gunna try Eagles Lodge ) & hit it hard all day Sat. We were gunna go the 4th so we would have 2 days, but its not a pay period for us. Cant wait already!! :D

Going to try to go around the fourth of July. Last year Branson was busy but Silver Dollar City was empty I don't think I saw anyone that wasn't in my family or a citizen of the greatest city on earth

drive down saturday, we have tickets to the 8 oclock haygoods show and then they are have a fan appreciation show after that. ;D
Sunday morning hit the city early, check out the decorations. Probably out by 12, head for springfield and and pickup my suburban that blew up there last weekend when we came down!. :o
Then head home. :(

I was scheduled for sunday and monday, But ilost a valve int my suburban engine 2 weeks ago on the way down., So I am coming down the weekend with my F450 and trailer to pick up burban and take it home, I will leaving the city by 12.Then drive to springfield to load suburban..

My grandson and I have tentative plans to visit the park this coming Friday. Don't know if the plans will pan out, but we hope so. It will be his first trip to SDC. I hope to show him a few of the old places I used to work...that is between running back and forth across park to the rollercoasters that he has already informed me he wants to ride! Grandpa may have to sit on the bench and watch him ride a few of those! :)

I am sitting in the Homestay Inn lobby using their computer. I am in room 316. I'll be headed to SDC early tomorrow morning.

We will be going to Branson September 10&11. We will be staying at Eagles Lodge/Homestay Inn (our first time btw). We will be at SDC on 9/11; I hear via SDC's Facebook page that they will be having a special Tribute to 9/11 on the square at Noon.
This will also be the start to National Harvest Festival.

Wow, Silver Dollar City is going to packed the weekend of the 15th, and 16th. Over the past several threads I have noticed several SDCFans members (including myself) who will be attending that weekend.

Hoping the rain holds off for the SDC area.
we are going to try to be there in time for opening ceremony, for sure be there in time for 1st lumberjack demonstration.
The large sand sculpture is on the north edge of the main square right in front of the lumberjack stage.. I will be on the east side of the sand sculpture a few minutes before the lumberjack show. I would be glad to meet some of you if you can be there..I will have on my SDC hat. Rather try to meet someplace else? where? when?

Yes How do. I cannot go the rest of the year because of a few health reasons/ family illnesses etc, and if I could muster up the ability to go, I would think OTC is the most heartwarming (ironic seeing that it is by far the coldest festival!). It really places you in the spirit for a true Holy-day season. The train ride is a must, it is a sing along that culminates with a touching story at the holdup stop (historically at least).
Oh, and you buy a lot of good stuff while you are there for gifts!

the wife and i were planning on going, but it looks like we are not going too be able to. :'( i gotta have surgery next Wednesday!! it seems i have a bad cmc joint in my thumb and them cortisone shots they have been giving me don't work anymore. i just found out :'( if i don't have done it soon they will have too fuse the joint, and that don't leave me much of an option. and i havent even told paige yet because in the back of my head i still think we can make it. good thing i havent made reservations.

Silver Dollar City, and Branson aren't going anywhere Avalanche.
In fact, the citizens will be standing by for when you can make it. Unless you plan on giving everyone a painful thumbs up everywhere you go, it's best just to rest yourself, and focus on the surgery. :)

I am planning on being there Sunday. Gonna try to talk my sister and her teenagers into going with me. Being single and without children at my age means you either do a lot of things alone, or you don't do them at all. And while I have gone to SDC alone a few times it's just not as fun as when I have someone with me to talk excitedly about all the things I love so much about the place. But I plan on being there Sunday even if I do have to go alone again.

I'm heading there this sunday with the family.This time we get to see sdc without rain. It was fun to be there during the rain but they didn't run the lumberjack shows. I'm excited about getting to see them this time. The forecast for tomorrow is partly cloudy and 72. Sounds good to me.

MAN!!! i just found out that i have some "time" next weekend, so i was going to do a quickie... BUT, luckily I checked the schedule and the city is CLOSED next sunday, the 30th!! :o :o :o
So then i checked on the showboat schedule and they are also shut down for 4 or 5 days,,,,?????

My parents go down during the winter and do the following:
Relax/ Recharge their batteries
Eat at a few restaurants
Shop at the outlet malls
Scout out antiques along the way, and in the area
I would enjoy it to get away from the Honey-do list for a weekend!

My parents are there today and say it is CROWDED!!!
I have never seen it this crowded during the Harvest Festival before. When I take pictures, I try not to let random people, and crowds clutter up my images. However, that is becoming an increasing challenge.

crowds make me nervous. and when my kid is near its worse. Then the stupid unruly kids who like to push and run in line and cut infront of your kid......then there are the basketballs, and the parents that just dont pay attention to how awful their kids are behavin. But I rather them come and spend theiir money at the park than stay home.

Thankfully sunday the 23rd of oct was great. Great weather not too hot. Very low crowds at least to me. I have to say sundays rock at sdc!

It's been a while since I hit the forums, I've missed you guys.
OTC starts today. Bluegrasswidow and I got married yesterday and we are staying here at the Homestay until sometime tomorrow. We will be out at SDC from open to 6 today. Anyone else?
I am wearing a tan SDC sweatshirt and will probably have a silly newlywed grin on my face. Joley will be wearing a purple Tinkerbell shirt and purple sparkly hat she got last night at Dixie Stampede.

well, i dont know if this will pan out or not, but.. we'r trying to make plans to to go to SDC on the 27th of this month. there's a big dirt track race in springfield on the 26th. we shall see.... ???
