Title: Scientific American - 1893
Post by: Pudgy Jones on February 14, 2011, 01:23:22 PM
Hello everybody!

I just bought a very nice copy of the 1893 Scientific American regarding "Marble Cave" on ebay for $10.25. Are these rare? This is the first one I've seen for sale, and I have always wanted one, so I am pretty happy.

Glad to hear it Pudgy Jones, and welcome to the site! The newspaper/ magazine is great. I bought mine from a newspaper site several years ago that had no clue what they had so it was CHEAP!!!

If you check out the Ron Martin booklet about Marvel Cave, the Scientific American article is discussed in it. I am glad the two of you were able to find original copies...pretty rare...nice for those who are interested in this material. Yes, I am surprised that print material often goes for such a cheap price, even stuff over 100 years old. I recently bought a 100 year old copie of an Arkansas state history at a used and out of print book store in my area for under $10. I really thought old material like this would go for much, much more.
