I saw the other day that Betamike is from Florida.. WHEW!! long drive there..
So i just wondered how far do "WE" drive to do what we do.. ;D
Sanddunerider: Topeka,KS 300 miles, 4 1/2 hours
-
We live in Northern WI. about 900 miles.
-
340.79 miles from Yukon, OK to Notch, MO - 5 HR 8 Minutes according to mapquest
-
4.5 - 5 hrs away
-
Northwest Arkansas for me...roughly one and a half to two hours away, depending on traffic and route taken.
-
Little Rock, AR at 173 miles, and three hours, and fifteen minutes according to Mapquest, and about two, and half hours when it's me behind the wheel! ;)
-
Oh...shucks...I'd say near 'bouts 4 hours. I am in Independence, Mo. That's right on the city limits line of Kansas City to the east.
-
2 hours or less. depends if I want to take the windy way which makes me nauchous (sp) or the highway which takes all of 10 minutes longer....
-
255 mi or 4 hrs 37min (if all speed limits are obeyed) Usually we can make it in under 4 hrs...but don't tell the sheriff

Yep, and I'm going to drive it this December....1067.83 miles (although I think it's a bit longer)....about 20 hours.
-
I'm with Andy1880. We are just on the other side of the river from him, by Ameristar Casino. About a 4 hour drive for us, 250+ miles with 1 stop for driver change in Collins Mo.
-
Lamar, Colorado....pulling the fifth wheel with 4 kids...12 hours....Approx. 650 miles...we'll be there over Thanksgiving
-
285 miles and 5.5 hours from midtown Memphis to SDC, if you take the most direct route. I prefer to meander on the back roads and take the ferry across Bull Shoals Lake at Peel, Arkansas. Can't wait to go back for Christmas.
-
520 miles (about 8 1/2 hours) coming from Joliet, IL. But then we also have to figure in stopping at Ted Drewes in St. Louis for frozen custard.

That's where I was until I moved here to Springfield for college. Now I'm only a 40-ish minute drive away! (which would be more exciting if I had a car and a driver's license and a job, LOL)

I have a bicycle you can have. If you peddle fast enough you may still make in there in under an hour! :)
-
300 Miles/5 hours NorthEast in Illinois. About 45 minutes from St.Louis, MO.
-
I am pretty lucky compared to most of you. I live in Aurora, Missouri. Which is about a 50 minute drive to SDC.
-
I live in North Central Oklahoma so I travel 323 miles and it takes 4 1/2 hours.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! I managed a well known frozen custard store for a bit over 5 years here in StL, and boy was it fun. It is where I met my wife, and many good friends, and it is where I spent nearly 40 hrs of my week every week, so I have eaten hundreds of lbs. of frozen custard. Now the wife and I travel to any frozen custard place we can, while we are out of town, it is the first thing we look for! Ted Drewes is great, but I am partial to Andy's -it has a bit more variety, and is SOO much creamier/ smoother. Ted Drewes DOES have the nostalgia factor though, and we visit there about 3-4 times a year (a bit easier since we live in StL!)! We visit local,we go on day trips etc. It is a blast. She chronicles all our visits, and some other topics on her blog. so far it is about 15 or 16 custard stands if my memory serves me correct...

^ North Central Oklahoma? Sounds like Guthrie or Stillwater.
-
Benton, Arkansas- about 20 miles southwest of Little Rock. 200 miles of which about 140 is 2 lane with a speed limit of 55mph.

-
Carl Junction, Mo
From my front door, 1 hour and 45 minutes. :)
My family loved it when we moved from Ada, Okla. which was over 6 hours. yuck!
-
well for sure, IF you need to move, move closer to SDC!! (sorry trams)
-
3 miles from my house to Hwy 65, then 44 miles to SDC parking lot C
-
Well HollyAnn, we are neighbors, so to speak. I live in Columbus, Ks. which for those that don't know is about 15 minutes or so west of Carl Jct. over in southeast Kansas. So i will have to tack on that 15 minutes to your 1 hour and 45 minutes and say we are about 2 or so away. That is if we take back roads down, which would actually bring us in thru Branson West, or about 3 hours if we Take I-44 to Springfield and then south to Branson on 65.
-
Hey there bobber, I know right where that is, I have a REAL ggod friend of mine that lives in Galena, ks. S i get within about 10-15 minutes from you 4 or 5 times a year..
-
Well, I live 352 miles from my door to SDC which is about 5 1/2 hours. I want a little house on Table Rock Lake.
-
Holly cannoli Holly Ann I went to school with you. I thought I recognized that person in the picture. Your last name starts with a K and ends in R...

Yep, a 140 mile big rig's brake test!
-
Bobber this is true! I'm on the Kansas side of things currently finishing my degree at Pitt State.
MissingTheGreenTrams, add in a couple more letters and you've got yourself a winner. ;)

That it certainly is! It's an engine, and transmission test going North, and a brake test going South. Of course, as they say on the Frisco Silver Dollar Line, if the brakes fail just have a lady stomp her feet because no one can put their foot down like a woman. ;)

Isn't it nice, that no matter where we live we are just one "click" away from SDC when we visit this Website? Howdy, neighbor! Nice time for an Ozarks vacation, huh? ;D
-
The crazy thing is that I spend more time on this website than I could ever dream of spending at Silver Dollar City. I think of this website as sort of a training simulator to get me ready for the real Silver Dollar City visit. :P
-
yea, now if we could just get interactive video for all the rides and attractions.. that might hold us all over until our next trip!.
-
It's a 3 hour drive from the house to SDC; have to add an extra 30 minutes when we're pulling the trailer to camp at Tall Pines on 265.
-
I live a wopping 12 minutes away. nyuck, nyuck, nyuck.

I agree Junior, this place is a great place to come for an SDC fix. Between you, Rube, Zephon, and Copper, we can get answers to just about every aspect of SDC life. Another thing that is wonderful about SDC Fans is that the regular posters have a genuine love for the park.
-

Could you imagine? Oh, the mischief I could get into if I was just minutes away from Silver Dollar City. Talk about a kid in a candy shop! ;D

Wichita KS here. On our next trip, we're anxious to stop in Pittsburg KS and try out Chicken Annie's and Chicken Mary's. We saw them on a show on the Food network. We'll have to hit one on the way out and one on the way back. Anyone tried either of those?
-
well howdy dave! welcome to the site. enjoy that chicken!
-
Hello SandDuneRider! I used ta spend quite a bit of time at Little Sahara! Now I drive 6 hours in the other direction for fun!
-
Just over the MO/AR line... so about 25 minutes. :D
-
199 miles...4 hours with a stop in Fayetteville to grab some Chick-Fil-A!
-
We're about 350 miles away in Southern Illinois. West on Interstate 64 to St. Louis then southwest on I-44 to Springfield and the home stretch down 65 to Branson. We've made the trip so much I think I have every mile of interstate memorized. I still get excited though when I see the exit for 76 Country Boulevard!
-
I live in the Kansas City metro area. 3 hrs to Springfield and another 1/2 to the City.
-
I still get excited though when I see the exit for 76 Country Boulevard!
It's crazy, but anytime I see a sign such as that it might as well say "Welcome home again" because that's how it makes me feel. ;D
-
thats great ozark, should be a sign at the city right where they unload the trams/busses.
"WELCOME HOME" ,
That's how it feels... ;D
-
This is to SDC Dave. Why yes i have been to both Chicken Mary's and Chicken Annies. My Family used to go to one or the other almost every payday when i was growing up . Although it has been awhile since i've been to either one even though I only live about 30 minutes from Pittsburg, both places have good food. I myself enjoy the Chicken Fried Steak. Let us know what you think when you go. :)
-
My granparents lived in Frontenac, KS. My grandpa was the principal of Westside Elementary in Pittsburg for years. We used to eat at Chicken Annie's and Chicken Mary's all the time. Very good food.
Last time I was at Chicken Annie's was last December at his funeral. I can't believe he's been gone for almost a year. :(
-
200 miles from Poplar Bluff, Mo. 3.5 hrs down US 60 and 65
-
Glad the put the Highroad in, saves about an hour being on 76
-
I live about ten minutes away from SDC.
-
Google says 311 miles, 5 hours 18 minutes to Branson.
But when we took that same route, with two adults and three kids in a full size conversion van, including stops for fuel and meals, it was more like 8 hours to our cabin in Kimberling City.
-
I live approx 4,425 miles away from SDC. I wont be driving there but I hope to visit again next year.
-
welcome, see you when u get here!
-
Central MO. About 150 miles and 3 hrs

-
When I am in town it is now only a 30 min drive from Crane... Yea.
-
YEA WE KNOW!!!! Good job again, Okla
-
I am in Springfield so just 30-45min. During the 2010 season we went to the park prob 25-30 times. Its nice to be able to decide last minute to just head down to the city on a day off. We already have our season passes for this year!
-
that would be tough to handle.....30 minutes away
-
NE Oklahoma, 210 miles to Branson, 3.5 hour drive, with a bathroom break in Springfield.
I'm new, btw, so hello, everyone! ;D
-
582 Miles!!! 1 MONTH from today we will be making our journey there! YAY, so excited!!! This will be my 7th trip to Branson, and the 8th will be in June!
-

-
We are in Southwest Arkansas. 249 miles away, and 4.5 hours according to MapQuest, but we make it in 4 if we don't take long stops.
-
1.5 hours from SDC, 1:15 if I book it. Close enough to make it 7 times a year.
I have had a seasons pass as long as I can remember. Great day or half day trip.
-
It's around 3.5 hours for us; depending if we stop for breakfast at Ferguson's Country Store & Restaurant (St. Joe, Arkansas). We make it up there 3-4 times a year, and we have on occassion had day trips! ;D
-
that makes for a long day, i used to do that, and i am 4 hours away. But not any more..
-
I've got all of ya beat! I live a mile from the park, takes me around 5 minutes...tee-hee. I hear the steam whistles all day long!
-
Steam.... WHere have you been?
-
Oh sure. Justy about the time I decide 4 hour drive is tolerable, Somebody come in from the dark and says their 5 minutes away!! GREAT!!! THANKS!!
-
Hey guys, good to be back. I've been doing a lot of work all around town, haven't been working on the train as much as I used to (SDC is a fun gig but a guy's gotta eat ya know) anyway, you guys are in for some very nice improvements on the train this year. Lots of improved looks and "sounds" this year on the frisco the engines have a better sound than they ever have...the ground shakes as they go by...totally awesome!
-
I was just talking about you, this weekend. My mom found some old photographs of trains in the process of being built - early, early photos.
-
That "sounds" great. lol! No pun intended.
