Title: Frisco Train Engine Number, Wait What?
Post by: Ozark Outlaw on November 03, 2010, 01:03:49 PM
Okay here is an easy trivia question for you. How many train engines does Silver Dollar City actively use?

For some reason, I had although thought that they had two. However, while skimming through some photos, I discovered that they actually have at least three. During my recent trip to Silver Dollar City I saw engine number 13, and I rode on engine number 76. However, engine number 43 was captured in publicity shot for the 50th Anniversary not too long ago.

So how many engines does Silver Dollar City have, and/or actively use? Two, or three, or more? Have they ever ran all of them at the same time? Also, while we are on the subject, is there any significance to the numbers? For example, engine 76 in honor of Highway 76? What about any other Silver Dollar City Train trivia? :)

I know they run two (maybe sometimes three?) during the Christmas season when the lines for the train ride are really long.

SteamFreak contributed a large section to our page on the Frisco Silver Dollar line that you might want to check out: http://sdcfans.com/?mod=reviews&id=75

I'm always amazed at how old the trains are, and the long history behind each of them.

As discussed in the past, how about some pics from the steam shop area with all the locomotives in one shot.  It would seem the shop area of an 1800's RR would be as interesting area to view as are the other great craft/trade operations through out the park.   How's the rumored restoration of the Henry Ford locomotive coming?
