Title: Noah Show
Post by: Junior on May 07, 2010, 09:49:09 AM
Has anyone gone to see the big stage show about Noah and the Ark? I understand it's a good show, but expensive. Is it worth the bucks to go see it?

ADULT  $47.00, TEEN  $23.00, CHILD  $16.00.  I really do not think it is to highly priced.  I went to the SOTH last week and we paid ADULT $42.00, CHILD $21.00.

I guess for today it is not too high priced, but boy, do I long for the days when SDC admission was $9, and SOTH was about the same. Back in my day, admission to Presleys, Baldknobbers and the other shows was $5 per adult! My how time flies, and prices go up! (Of course, minimum wage was less than $3 per hour at that time!)

I think it is worth the money.  It is a wonderful show!  I have also seen Miracle of Christmas there too and it is great as well.  The theatre is huge and just beautiful. ;D

My family and I saw Noah two years ago.  It is definitely worth the money.  It completely changed how I read the Bible.  The show brings the words to life.  It made me think of some things that you normally wouldn't if you just read through, they were real people will real issues just like us.  I think even little kids would like it because of all the animals but it is kind of "scary" at times.  I say its a must do at least once.

Just an FYI...   Steam Freak now works for Sight and Sound Theater.  He is no longer working for HFE at SDC.    He was there part time during Christmas season to help out.   I do hope he will stay on as part time for the 2011 season.

The harsh reality about Branson, going back to the early tourist days 40 and 50 years ago when SDC was young, is that you have to go where the jobs are, and get the best pay  you can. If it was a perfect world, I'd be celebrating about my 33 or 34th year with SDC this  year. It was still just a summer season when I lived in Branson, with no work available Nov-mid march. I tried living one winter with no job in 82/83 and about starved. I wish STEAMFREAK well where ever he goes. He was a very good train robber, I caught his show in August of last year. You will notice many people living and working in Branson have to work two jobs. I did. SDC by day, one of the music shows by night. Twelve hour days five days a week. Could not do it now, that pace would kill me...JUNIOR is gettin' old! :)

Gonna have to start calling you Senior then huh? I agree totally with the issues faced by the citizens. My wife really wants to see Noah, but I cannot foresee that happening...I mean $100 for us to see a 2 hr show? We are not rolling in the dough, I worked 2 full time jobs as a teacher, and a manager of a ice cream store in order to make ends meet for several years, and it doesn't help that I am frugal, and just can't justify that much $$ for that little entertainment... I'd rather use the $$ for a weeks groceries for the 2 of us, or a 2 night hotel stay, or towards one of our season passes.

I saw a commercial today (St. Louis, MO market) for the Noah show.  It said this year would be the last season for the Noah show.  Anybody know anything about this?

Last season for Noah; next year will have a different show.  The Sight and Sound Theater in PA (the original) also rotates shows.

^They routinely change the shows out at the different Sights and Sounds theatres.

We will receive a new show for the 2012 season.

It could be any of the following (or even a new one)
-Abraham and Sarah
-Behold the Lamb
-Daniel
-In the Beginning
-Psalms of David
-Ruth

all of those shows have played at the other Sight and Sounds theatre in Lancaster County, PA

I am not a huge theater buff, but I could imagine (if it isn't written yet) a one act play of "Jonah" acted out solo, from inside the whale's belly...just my warped mind...maybe it has been done, but I think it's be fun (think a biblical castaway!)

Better the interior of the whale's belly than the scene in the Old Testament where the king engaged in a large battle goes into a nearby cave to relieve himself and is slain by a fellow hiding inside!

Actually, you are referring to the account of Saul going in the cave.  While relieving himself, the fugitive, David, cuts off a portion of his (Saul's) clothing.  Afterward, David can be seen holding up the cloth to the king, showing that he was merciful and could have killed him.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Noah show...I'm not much on musicals however..I'd never go back for this show...maybe if they get another that sounds interesting...What I liked best was seeing the theater....It is beautiful...None of my family particularly enjoyed the show which include my mother, mother-in-law, father, father-in-law, wife, 4 boys ages 2, 6, 10, 14, and brother and sister-in-law...We all did however enjoy the Dickens Christmas Carol at SDC during the OTC fesitval...I enjoyed it much more and didn't have an additional fee to pay...Someday I'd like to attend the Harvest Festival to see the Headin' West show...

Someone posted on the 1branson.com board today that tickets for the Noah show are currently $35 until June 30th -- regular price is $47.

Talked to my best friend in St. Louis today.  She heard a commercial on the radio.  She believes they said this is the last year for the show.  I hadn't heard that but told her I'd check here.  If anyone knows, someone on here will!

I heard from employees at Sight and Sound that the new show for next year is going to be "Joseph".  Here is the website for the show that is currently playing in Lancaster PA.  http://www.sight-sound.com/WebSiteSS/getshowdetails.do?eventCD=JOE

We went and saw Noah Thursday night.  The theater was maybe 1/3 full.  From a production standpoint the show was very well done.  In the second act you really get the feeling you are in the Ark.  The script itself was a little cheesy at times, and there were a few other little details that kinda bugged me.  Having said that, I'm glad I saw it, and I would encourage others to go see it if they haven't already, especially if they can get the discounted rate, which I think lasts through June.  Also the Lord added His own special effects.  As it was pouring down rain outside during the flood scene inside.  The "extra" thunder and pounding rain on the theater roof definitely added to the show.
