It seems like I've seen a "ride concept" thread on sdcfans that discussed a water ride idea for SDC called "The Creature in the Creek." Apparently based on the legends of Bigfoot, or MoMo the Monster. I guess the creature jumps out at you as you travel along an Ozark creek in a boat...kind of a revamped and rethemed Jim Owens' Float Trip Ride. This seems like a relatively inexpensive ride to put in compared to a multi-million dollar rollercoaster. Is this a "dead" concept, or could it come back in the future? I also think a "shot tower" ride, if themed properly, could work at SDC. Any comments?
^I was thinking about it at the park the other day and just think how great a shot tower would look over by Powderkeg. It would probably help with Powderkeg's lines a bit and it would really enhance the area's atmosphere even more.
Sounds like a good location for a shot tower.
I think the idea is intriguing! However, with the Lost River of the Ozarks, the American Plunge, the Flooded Mine and with the new River Blast, is there anymore room in the park for yet another boat style water ride?
Of course the American Plunge could use a nice revamp. Perhaps they could completely overhaul the ride, and location for a new boat style attraction?
I am just brainstorming. ;D
I agree. As much as I love American Plunge, it has needed an upgrade for a long time. It just hasn't been the same ever since they took out all the theme in the cave.
I'm all for a change to the Plunge.

You read my ride suggestion - not an actual concept from SDC. I like the idea of bringing in the Ozark myth of MoMo, and it could absolutely work with AP. The whole "doing it together" theme could be reworked to be "We can do it" (In light of current struggles, this might be a timely concept.). The idea could also be worked into a dark ride or even into the Mystery-Mine-type coaster - perhaps along with other Ozark myths.
History Buff, I like the idea!
When I first heard of this concept I was all for it being a Mystery Mine type coaster. It wouldn't have to be a water ride, or they could have water effects for the summer and just turn them off the rest of the year like FITH.
Hey, that would work. Good idea!
Sounds good to me, just make it a ride that can be up all year.
Or at least as much as the coasters.
A week ago there were no riders on the River Battle, is was 80, seems lieka waste of money.
^Kids aren't out of school yet. I'll bet the lines get longer.
^^I wouldn't make it a water ride, but a dark ride or MM. That's what I propose.

I liked the Buzzsaw Falls "plunge" better than the original.
Of what I actually remember of The Buzzsaw falls, it was pretty fun. I still kinda wonder why it came down.
If I remember correctly it broke down a lot. It was an "experimental" rollercoaster, and was allegedly too costly to keep repaired and maintained.
I honestly hated Buzzsaw Falls. It was slow and boring. Long lines for crappy ride=Sad and angry park go-er. I was rejoycing the day the cursed contraption came down.
I thought it was funny that the thing was so poorly done.
The boats had to be retrofitted with windshields cause the water would fill your boat otherwise ( leaving the station ). It broke down with me on it a time or 2.
Really it was probably the worst idea that SDC has invested in.
I am not sure if there was a law suit over that but had I been SDC I would have sued the manufacturer.
A wet, ride that transitions to a coaster is a novel concept, as we know there were issues with it. Every time I rode I came out SOAKED. As soon as the boat was "launched" it would fill with water directly next to me, I was glad for the track in the woods, but only wish it had been a bit longer as to serve an ample amount of time for drying. I was glad when it was revamped for Powderkeg.
BuzzSaw was supposed to be much better, there were real hills planned, but it was changed drastically over time.

I would have tried something like Journey to Atlantis....

I would love Creature in the Creek to be the next BIG thing, but I would do strictly coaster with amazing dark ride sections. There can be water effects, but they must be able to completely turn them off during the cooler season. SDC needs more rides to be able to run the full season.
I'm with Copper! I'd really love to see a really great dark ride at SDC. Since I'm a recovering Disneyphile that's one thing I really miss, and I think SDC could do it right.
Yup, after looking at the video...it's easy to see how GREAT something like this could be at SDC. A different theme to fit the Ozarks, and you got a winner here! I guess Buzzsaw Falls was a few years before it's time? Because what I saw in the video is that the Neptune thing is a cross between a dark ride, a rollercoaster, and a log flume ride. I give a big thumbs up to "Creature in the Creek" the "Bigfoot" or "Mo-Mo The Monster" idea. An inventive ride designer could lengthen the water flume section and make an updated "Jim Owens' Float Trip Ride" thing...where it's a gentle ride...but then, unexpectedly, have "the creature" jump out at the boats/cars from time to time. Oh...this could be GREAT! :D
It's too bad they didn't wait a few years and go with an Intamin aquatrax instead. Lotte World's Atlantis Adventure would do perfectly themed to a sawmill. http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=atlantis2008_640
Wow, this looks great, too!
I remember going as Girl Scouts to SDC and when I was riding the Snore Saw Falls, a guy was riding with his kiddo and at the top of the coaster drop he undid his kid and pulled him out and placed him on the top of the hill. They had to shut off the ride, drain the water and get everyone to safety. The retard did this TWICE!
How was he allowed to do this twice? What was his excuse the first time? Looks like to me he should have been escorted off the park.
In my opinion, not only escorted from the park, but charged with endangerment of a minor and placed under custody in the Stone County Jail...or better yet...taken to a state mental health facility for evaluation. This guy sounds like a LOOSER. Proof ANYONE can father a child, but only a REAL MAN can be a father.
I dont know what happened to this man........you would thinnk he would be takin out back and shot......but then again I am old fashioned
I just hope this next ride doesn't not hinge its thrills on getting wet.
That is all.
A dark ride would be fantastic, but I even think something like a hybrid float trip would be cool.
