Post by: marolinesdad on January 29, 2010, 02:46:04 PM
Have you all checked out the 50th web site lately? http://50.silverdollarcity.com/ (http://50.silverdollarcity.com/)
Not only does it have great pics but it also have the FITH song and Ringtones....   Gotta love it.  Just put them on my I-Phone.

This is so COOL!  We've asked SDC for these songs for years!!  Love "Wonderful Day" and "Company Comin'."  If only the songs were longer and they had more songs like "PowderKeg" and the Christmas parade song.  But this is awesome!!  I'm almost crying!!

The folks at SDC have done an excellent job with this. My viewing today was the first time I have seen it. I went ahead and posted "my memories" and six photos that you have already seen from my Flickr account. I hope they decide to post it in a day or two. I'm looking forward to the 2010 season, and hope to visit a time or two...see the new riverblast...maybe visit with a few of the folks I remember from my time as a "citizen." Did anybody from SDCFans contribute images to the anniversary site, or is everything there from the company files? I really enjoyed the audio downloads. Personally, I had not heard my old Uncle Rube's voice since 1984, and it was nice to hear a short clip from the actual ride featuring Slim Pickens voice. If you listen to it, the clip is from about the first thirty seconds or so of the ride. The pauses between Rube's dialog is where your old friend, Junior, would add his voice.  :)

They really did a great job with this...I have always wanted to have the FITH and FM songs...now they're on my iPod and they can keep my company until opening day!

I almost cried when I saw the timeline and just about did when I saw the songs for download.

I AM crying now, having read all the Share Your Memories stories. Absolutely SUPERB.

Think we could ask for the American Plunge song?

I love that they included a link to our site at the bottom. Gotta keep stepping it up if we're going to be the official unofficial SDC fan site.

Wow.  What a great site!  I love the scrapbook.  It's wonderful to look through some of the old pictures from HFE's archives.  It's especially nice to see the Flooded Mine back when it opened in the 60s, and also to see the Swinging Bridge back when it was the entrance to the park.  The mp3s and "share your memories" are just icing on the cake! :)

I have emailed them and asked for the Thunderation Song.   What all rides have songs?

Rides that have songs (that I can think of of the top of my head):

- Flooded Mine
- Powder Keg
- Wildfire
- American Plunge
- Fire in the Hole

It would be nice if they would include some of the dialog that Jim Owens' ghost spoke while riding the float trip. Also there was instrumental traditional music piped throughout the park in the late 70's and early '80's that people used to request on an album. It also would be nice to hear some of Dub Taylor's dialog as "Grandpappy Dugan" from the explosion scene of the diving bell ride. Grandpappy said, "Seein' as how you all is kin folks, I ain't gonna hurt ya much. I'm just gonna take this here dynamite, and blow ya'll outta here!"  ;D

Under the "share your memories" section, SDC was kind enough to post my photos and testimony. It's titled "First visit in 1970."

I love this site!! I think SDC has needed to do something like this for a long time. I can't wait for the 50th Anniversary Party!

I do too.  I just hope after the 50th year is over they will leave it up as a tribute.
