As I said in the other thread, I was working on linocuts for Christmas Cards, and thought I would create a few SDC inspired prints while I had the supplies out! Here are two so far, I used the same gradation of orange-yellow-orange on both, although I tried several others.

Alright back to the SDC items!
I created this after seeing an artist working with only paper. Using one sheet of paper, I created the Wilderness Church. All of this can be folded back into the flat sheet of paper that it began as. I chose a small scale to highten the degree of difficulty after the original attempt.Remember none of this has been separated from the paper, all is cut, and folded while still attatched.Enjoy!

Rube-

The time lapse photo is cool, but that little Wilderness Church just blows my mind.  I am constantly amazed at how human brains are wired so differently.  I wouldn't have even thought of that, let alone have been able to create it.  It gives me a headache just thinking about how you did that. :)  Great stuff!

Also love the "Tower" pic.  Perfectly overcast day for that shot.  It really makes the picture pop.

Nothing to do, Rube?  Looks like you must be caught up with your Christmas shopping.

Could you make patterns for these (Wilderness Church) and sell them?

Nope, my grades were all submitted, but I still had to be at school until 3:00pm! So I began posting some of the many art-esque things I have done to kill time while still physically being present. The church was not too difficult, and with my pattern, anyone could create it. On the other hand, some of the ones that I will post hopefully when they are finished are a bit more challenging in the design aspect. Simply thinking what can be cut, then folded, while still being attached are tough to think about sometimes-even for me. The dark lines on the church were there since this was so small, it posed problems with seeing what I needed to fold. My most challenging part was the front portion/steeple/door. Notice the door folds up to create the overhang. Try it! take a building, flatten it out, and fold it up! Well... you can leave that to me, I will get going on the others as soon as time allows!

That's really great, Rube. It's pure coincidental timing that I just saw this:

Time to step it up. You should be able to do Shad.  ;) ;D

I was inspired by an artist like him (possibly him) to try works on one paper. I have another folding model started, that should be done within the week (Hopefully). I never spent much time on the other for the main reason that I lost my template that I created! While I am working on those, I hope to get my photos from today using my Holga camera with the 35mm conversion and a new "fish eye" wide angle lens. developed.

Rough Draft of the Hotel (Hannah's Ice Cream Parlor) I'll add a photo of the constructed piece once  I get it folded. I already know there will be some changes.

Apparently I did not enjoy the Saloon show as a young child. My dad gave this picture to me as a gift this Christmas! my old colored...coloring book, and honestly it is one of the best gifts that I could have gotten!

What does a person like me do when I am off for 2 snow days in a row?
Using one SDC shopping bag...
Cut into 1/2" strips...
Can make these 3 plaited baskets...
The largest is 10"x4"
Middle is 4"x4"
and the smallest is 10"x2"
The smaller of the baskets used the same amount of paper each, and combined equal the same amount that is in the large basket.
Details...

Here's a challenge, Rube: some origami as small as 3mm tall!

Not that I have forgotten the other "projects" that I have...but these were a bit easier to create! Some of you may know that I am an avid camera collector, and user of said cameras. They collect no dust, they get used. I have acquired a large format OLD camera that I have retrofitted to digitally take photos using the body of the existing camera. The only manipulation is converting the camera to b/w before, or after shooting (In this case it happened to be after.) Let me know what you think!

Here is a linoleum block (much like a woodcut just out of a plastic/ rubber block that is used like a big stamp) print of what I am calling "Winter at Birdle's" . I was inspired by an existing print I saw in a gallery, and made several changes to it to have it reflect Birdle Mannon's cabin in SDC.

Well, that trap looks a little larger than one that would be needed for a finger....

Ha....It is a plaited vessel/ basket....ends up being more like a one ended chinese finger trap on steroids, If I opened up the other end to would be large enough to be an arm trap or a finger trap for Paul Bunyan

This is my example I made for my computer animation class for their first project, a 14 slide GIF. It is not perfect but it works how it is supposed to! It is 22 pixels high x 230 long...all little boxes of color x 14 separate images to create the animation of the train at different points along the path...once it is created, it is a pretty easy task to move it along...total it is 5,060 pixels per image! Impressed right?

I undertook a HUGE project for me this year...1 artwork a week for the full year. Though at times I thought I might not make it, I came out a few ahead by the end of it all. SDC was prominent in a few artworks. I thought I'd share my holiday themed image here with you all. Don't you wish you had been on my nice list to receive one of these one of a kind prints? No they are not sold, sorry! This is a three color linoleum block print /reduction block print. This was actually a test print, that turned out to be the best of all the ones I made in the series! (Please be respectful and observe my rights as an artist and NOT print/ distribute the image below- Yes this has happened as I have seen my images elsewhere without my name connected to it!)
