Do you think we should come up with a special design for SDCFans T-shirts in honor of the 50th anniversary next year? We could all wear them any time we're at the park so we can find each other as well as show our appreciation and excitement at SDC celebrating such a huge achievement.
I have a friend who owns a screen-printing company. He was telling me yesterday that an order of 25 shirts would be $10 a shirt. That made me think about how we should get extra-special shirts for next year.
I plan to be there all day May 1st, and I'm sure plenty of others on here are hoping to be there, too. It'd be the best and very appropriate day to have a huge gathering of forum members.
What do ya'll think? I know it's a ways away, but time slips by fast, and it always works best to plan early.

Being swamped with Christmas and work and commissions etc, I have little time to work on art lately or at least until January, but one of my old works might easily be adapted to an SDCFans shirt if need be. I could arrange something to be done with one of them. I have 2 or 3 other paintings to upload still but nothing too good for a shirt. Stay tuned to it for more uploads I am working on more in my free time.

Yeah, your art is AMAZING. It'd be awesome to use one of your pieces. They'd have to be adapted to be just one color, unless we want to pay more than $10 a shirt (I don't know how much it is for two colors).
I've got an idea buzzing around in my head. I'm gonna try sketching it out on Paint Shop Pro and see how it comes out. It may look better in my head than it would "on paper". LOL

Sounds like a neat idea to me. Just be sure to not use anything that's SDC trademarked, like the logo, or even the words "Silver Dollar City". SDC or SDCFans is OK though.
Don't know what I'll be able to come up with using one color, but I'll try to set some time aside to try something.
we would need a color that would stnd out. I love the picture of Shad but I'm afraid that it might be a tradmark violation and that he no longer is view as a symble of the city.
Thankfully I do my art for fun, and for others, not for $$ cause if I tried... I would surely run into copyright infringement issues with half of my stuff even though it is an artistic interpretation. One color...hmmm I'll throw ideas around if I can...
Took a few minutes...
need more time to think...

That on florecent yellow
I would love to have a tshirt myself so I can identify my fellow SDC lovers. It is a shame that Shad is not a symbol of the park anymore. He will always be one for me.
If anyone has pictures of the park at Christmas, could you please post them so I could see the new tree.
I was suppose to come this year but of course they told us at work that our pay for December could be delayed due to lack of funds from the state so I had to cancel my plans. And I work for the State of Illinois.... I just want to work at SDC!!
So please keep us posted and I will take at least one if not more if they come in different colors.
Alright I took some time to get out my initial thoughts last night, now I have a clean slate to work with! Now onto a shirt design of some sort! (I had to get those thoughts out, cause I kept going back to them, now I can be creative)

And Another...I didn't like this one too much...

My favorite....A BUMPER STICKER for my car!!!!

I like the first 2, and would love one with your picture of Terry as the sheriff, but the 3rd one should be DPFans, LOL
p.s. For Twinsmom, here's a link to my Christmas album...

Unfortunately I would assume the likeness of Terry is somehow copyrighted by HFEC.
Or Terry Himself
Tinmann, thanks so much for the link to your Christmas album. I can close my eyes and just imagine myself there instead of this cubicle.
But I will be there for the Birthday Bash - reservations are made!!
One year I bought a DVD on Ebay of someone's trip to SDC @ Christmas that included the Train Ride, the Saloon Show, and a walk through of the Christmas Crafts/ornaments etc. It was obviously made to be sold, it had transitions put in, and title screens/ etc. Yes there was some camera-man talking portions, but when I am having holiday withdrawl, I watch that and it perks me right up and carries me through until I can make it down.
I have VHS tapess of family vacations throughout the years when my son was small. But the one I enjoy the most is the tape I have of the original Branson Brothers that I taped when they performed in Echo Hollow with the female group called Tapestry.
I will play it and work around the house and sing along even though they are telling me to sing quieter.
I think I will play one tonight. There are alot of memories in the tapes but I would not sell them for a million dollars.
Not that it warrants itself to a shirt, but I had about 15 minutes yesterday after I made a Christmas Card design, and since I had the linocut (Linoleum printing block) materials out, I used some scraps to create this. Hope you all enjoy it! I had fun. Now I have a neato printing block/ stamp to emblazon SDCFans onto anything! I can change the background based on whatever color I lay down first, so here are two different versions!

Rube, I know that the park has evolved into a rollercoaster park over the years, but I think our T-shirt should reflect the original roots of the city and it 1888 theme. I still like the first one that you presented with the train on top. Lets try to keep the true sprit of the park. I know that we could not use the paarks logo, but something around that item would be neat.
I agree oldSDCer. I really had nowhere to post this, so I thought I would put it here since it somewhat fit into my brainstorming. I have gone many-a-time and not ridden the coasters (I know for some that would be sacrilege ). I think it should reflect the "feel" of the place. I will definitely be thinking over the next few weeks!
I also think that I will start a thread "Rube's Art Gallery" or something along those lines so I have a rightful place for these items.
I love the idea of a SDCFans t-shirt. I would definetly buy one! I also like the one with the train on top the best.
So, here's the idea that's been bouncing around in my head since I first started this thread. I wanted to do something color-wise that would evoke both Silver Dollar City and its golden anniversary, as well as lightly parodying the logo without actually using it.
I was looking at my friend's t-shirt site tonight and noticed that he does have a few simpler designs that are two-color and still only $10. And his most expensive shirt is $15, so I think we could do pretty well if we order through him. Anyway, so I went with a two-color design. Tried to keep it as simple as possible, and also made it so that it would be a white shirt; it always costs less to print on white than black. Plus, white t-shirts are more comfortable in the summer anyway, as white reflects, black absorbs.
So, here's my design on a t-shirt template to show what it would look like. The design in this photo is less than 1/4 of its original size; I made it on a 2000x2000 document with 200dpi.

I like the design, except for the mustard yellow. Maybe that could be orange or something.
I was trying for a gold color, but maybe I should go with pure yellow?

Anything new on the T-shirts?
Rube.. I am going to have a shirt made for myself and my 2 daughters. would you mind if I used one of your pictures that you have posted?
Yah I messaged you about that, so just get back to me, and we can figure it all out!
Thanks for letting me know Okla!
If someone wants to try a one-off shirt -Iron on, or a vinyl application from a local print shop let me know. and we can work it out. I posted most of the images on this thread for the purpose of shirt designs, so they (mostly) are fair game! With opening day getting nearer, I just might have to make one for myself too!
If anyone makes a shirt, I'll buy one!!!
I've got an idea I've been sitting on that might turn out well. I'll try to hammer it out sometime between now and this weekend.
I'd buy a shirt. Probably 3 actually. Me, my sister, and my best friend. I'm a big guy...so any chance of at least one XXL?
Anything on T-shirts, or maybe hoodies???

Make that 2, I would need an XXL also!
Well, I caved and just went ahead and ordered a T-shirt from Zazzle using my banner/coin design.
Now is the perfect time to order a shirt from Zazzle as they've got a $4-off code to use on any T-shirt, in celebration for St. Patrick's Day coming up. If you order within the next few days, you should definitely get your shirt in time to wear it to opening day at SDC!
Just do a search for SDCFans, and all the designs that Steve's uploaded there will come up. If you're interested in using the banner/coin design I did, just let me know and I'll upload it and make it public (I have a hi-res version as opposed to the one I linked to on this thread).
Oh yeah, the old SDCFans zazzle account is here: http://www.zazzle.com/sdcfans+gifts
I can't really verify the quality of any of those shirts though, except the grunge shirt which I bought over a year ago. I still have that shirt and it hasn't faded too badly. They're good shirts, but the designs don't exactly pull off well on the shirts. I know a little more about shirt designs now from the derbies on shirt.woot.com, so the next generation of shirts should be better.
I've been meaning to overhaul the store and design some new shirts, but just like everything else I've been pushing it off due to work and school. Sometime between this weekend and Spring Break I'll try my hand at a few shirts again though.
If anyone else wants to design an SDCFans shirt, Zazzle is an excellent place to do it. Go ahead and set up your own account and give us the link, or send it to me and I can put it on our account (we aren't profiting from the zazzle account, btw).
Well, Disney does business with Zazzle, so I'm imagining the quality can't be too bad.
What do you guys think about something like this? http://sdcfans.com/shirt.jpg
(http://sdcfans.com/shirt.jpg)
I kind of threw this together, so it's not very neat. I'll probably make the rays smooth on the end rather than jagged, and I'll adjust the colors some before putting it on a shirt. I'll probably have to play with the text a little too so that it will stand out better. Can you tell what the objects are? I'm afraid they'll look more like blobs to everyone else. I don't have a lot of good silhouette shots.
I should probably throw the web address in there too...
^I like that design. But really not the colors. Maybe a red or blue shirt with black silhouette and the brown SDCFans logo in the middle?
You are right about the silhouettes - I don't think they all come across as what they are. Having said that, I like the concept, and I agree the address must be on there.
I like the design a lot, but it does need a little tweaking with the colors and the addition of the web address.
Here is the Shirt I had made. They are $15. If you want one let me know.
