Title: An introduction and your favorite attractions at Silver Dollar City!
Post by: MaximeLefebvre on September 01, 2026, 06:35:35 AM
Hello everyone,

I'm thrilled to join the SDCFans community! As a huge fan of theme parks—and Silver Dollar City in particular—I've decided to finally create my first post and introduce myself.

I'd love to learn more about the forum members' habits:

What is your must-do coaster or attraction at the park (Time Traveler, Outlaw Run, PowderExpress...)?

Do you have a favorite time of year or season to visit (such as the An Old Time Christmas festival)?

I look forward to reading your replies and discussing the park's news and history with you all!

Welcome!!!

I am pretty new to the theme park life myself. I had only been to Six Flags St.Louis a couple of times as a kid until like 3 years ago when my girlfriend took me to Old Time Christmas with her family. They go every year but don't really ride any coasters. Mainly shows/food/lights. I was 400 pounds at the time and couldn't ride anything except for Fire in the Hole (old one) and Flood Mine. We went again the next year and I was too big to fit on the new Fire in the Hole!!!! That kind of lit a spark in me and I decided to lose weight.

I've lost 150 pounds in the last 18 months and we have been to 7 different theme parks this year. We are from Kansas city and have season passes to SDC and Six Flags. I've been to SDC 8 times this year so far with two more to go. Our favorites are Mystic River (we change into flip flops before getting on). My personal favorite is Outlaw Run, specifically in the front row. It's an insane ride.

I have a 10 year old and a 9 year old and they are scaredy cats. They LOVE Thunderation although they were scared of it at first. The older one has rode Powderkeg and loved it but the younger one hasn't been brave enough yet.

Favorite season would have to be Christmas although I am really excited for Fall. Great weather and night rides has me pumped.

Favorite coaster/attraction: My favorite is actually riding the tram in the rain. IDK why, but the spray of a little rain while riding the tram is my favorite. It's weird, I know. I haven't done any coasters in about 10 years. The last couple of times I tried them, I had some balance and nausea issues when I got off for a couple of hours, and it just wasn't worth that. The last one I actually rode was Thunderation; I also had trouble a couple of months before that at Universal Orlando.  I love dark rides; the flood mine is pretty good, but it always seems to need a little more TLC than the staff have time to give it(usually it is in pretty good shape in the spring). I'm there for the shows, the non-coaster rides, the craftsman, and watching my kids have fun.

fall/harvest fest is my favorite time at the city, followed by christmas. The city transforms at night with the lights of pumpkins and then Christmas.

I always made sure to ride OG Fire In The Hole (new one isn't worth the line), ThuNderaTion, and Flooded Mine. The Train too if it's not super crowded that day.
