Stagecoaster! ;D
Quote from: Swoosh on January 20, 2025, 08:00:33 PMSince the park (finally) admitted that the next attraction will be added in 2026 (besides the resort). I'm curious as to what you think it'll be and where it will be located.
Fun fact: if you were paying attention, they've already done the survey work for the attraction.
... and go
where did they admit that the next attraction will be added in 2026?

NoCoasterCon on Saturday
Well, since the resort doesn't open until late 2026 I can't see them opening a multi-million dollar coaster to get rooms filled. I'd like to think a decent flatride, maybe something that gives a good view over the treeline. Possibly over by Powder Keg/Wildfire and connect the two paths since they want to start getting rid of dead end paths?
I really hope that it is our version of Big Bear Mountain. It is just an all around fun ride and has a 39" minimum height. Having a real coaster with a low minimum height would be great for the park.
^ Doesn't look like any inversions on that ride so that would definitely work for me and my family! Hey SDC, if you build it they will come!
The last survey that I saw had to do with shopping... As for rides, I don't think we'll see a Big Bear here very soon simply because we already have Powderkeg. I guess they could never have too many family friendly rides, but a third launch coaster would be an interesting choice.
I've been kind of expecting them to do something with Thunderation. It's yet another "old" ride that feels like it is on life support, but I guess comparatively it could keep chugging along with typical maintenance for at least a few more years. There are rougher rides at other parks that keep going.
If they try to add another flat ride, I'm guessing it would be out of the Zamperla catalog. Probably a Nebulaz since those are popular and visually interesting. I'd like to see a Gryphon myself. I'm just not sure where it would go, but we know they want to bump the park out more to the north and eventually have some sort of connection to the resort. They can't go too much further since you want guests to be able to walk from the very back of the park to the exit without taking an hour, but the current maintenance area is certainly an attractive flat space on which to eventually build quite a few things...
Quote from: Swoosh on January 20, 2025, 08:00:33 PMFun fact: if you were paying attention, they've already done the survey work for the attraction.
So Swoosh by survey, do you mean survey the land with flags, stakes, etc. or do you mean email survey where questions are thrown at us about potential new developments?
I think we will see the long overdue hyper or giga coaster that SDC needs.
There's 2 areas that came to mind.
The flooded mine and out to the waterbogan area... part of me wonders if they would close that path and relocate the pottery shop and popcorn giving them a bit of space to work with. But that doesn't seem very likely. A suspended or flying coaster in this area could be really fun.
The original fire in the hole location seems obvious for development. It would be a good spot for a flat ride at least, but could be a little bigger.
2 additional spots that seem possible are the maintenance area by fire in the hole. That courtyard just feels designed to expand to the west... in that space it could really be anything.
Between wildfire and powderkeg.. you could really put any kind of coaster there.
I think there is a lot of interest in a mother high thrill coaster, there are also a lot of people asking for more rides that the whole family can ride together.
Sounds like what they really need is an extreme coaster flat ride that can accommodate the whole family including infants and great-grandparents while staying totally in theme like Miss Mary's Day.
Oh, and make it a dark ride mountain coaster water plunge theme just to cover all bases.

Hey, Swoosh - would you be willing to share what you've heard so we can discuss? I'd love to hear what you think is happening and see what other members think.

Weird how they deleted your other reply - it's a valid question to ask. Dangling a carrot in-front of those wanting to know just makes it seem like it's for an ego-boost.

Not sure what you're insinuating but I do not have the option to delete others posts and I don't check this board very often anymore. I get you do not like me but I'm curious what you hope to accomplish with your posting style. It reminds me of my middle schoolers in maturity level
I am aware that you do not have the option to delete other's posts, considering the fact that you do not have a [Moderator] badge underneath your username. "They" refers to the moderators of the forum. However I can see how the wy I worded it was confusing.
My carrot-dangling analogy still stands though, which is re-enforced by

We get it, you have insider info that nobody else here has and that you can't share specific details due to confidentiality. Speculation is fun. But if you're just going to sit and drip feed us information while saying

^ I disagree the board is on "life support". It usually gets quiet this time of year with the park being closed. When it opens back up I'm sure the forums will get more active. Swoosh, you yourself keep us entertained and informed with your MIG trip reports. Wait until something big does get announced from SDC and watch the board spring back to life with a vengeance! And as always Shave thanks for keeping the board running!
Quote from: Swoosh on February 05, 2025, 10:38:14 AMYou're entitled to your own opinion, but I want you to admit to yourself that you're also one of the big reasons why this board has died. Why would anyone want to provide any info that's not been confirmed by the park when you continually treat other posters the way you do.
And heaven forbid plans change and a person dared to mention out of date info then you're always one of the first to say something like "see you don't know anything"
If you could quote/link my posts where I've done this then sure, I'll admit it. But I think you've gotten me confused for someone else, considering I've only had 100 posts in the last 6 years and haven't told anybody that "you don't know anything". Yes, I checked my post history. So please, if you think I've treated anybody else poorly then go head and give me the links so I can apologize.

I didn't mean to open a can of worms and I totally understand confidentiality. But here's the thing, Swoosh... the way you play the "I know something but I can't tell" game is what frustrates people. We're all here because we love SDC and want to be excited about news from the park. Respectfully, please wait until you CAN share rather than "chuckling" at our discussion and ideas.
That's what makes it come across as ego. I can't wait to be on park in about 35 days and we can all explore the new areas and offerings.
Oh my, Swoosh, send me all the hints, laugh at my posts, I don't care. The board at least is having some movement now. We all know Swoosh has some inside information - but I know working for parks and others - that information can change at a moment's notice. Heck Taylor Swift drops hints in posts, pictures, etc. all the time without saying anything...that's one of the reasons my daughter is obsessed because she's always trying to figure out something before the announcement. So, Swoosh drop all the hints you can, dangle those carrots, let's have fun with this...

I'm not really sure what swoosh is talking about, I can't think of anyone on here that regularly tells people they are wrong besides swoosh.
This whole season the forum has been a bit quieter than past years. I don't think that can be put on anyone person. Some people have moved away, some people are going less often. There are lots of other things going on in the world. I still appreciate those that are here and the opportunity to talk about SDC. Discussing the things we like, the things that are frustrating, and things we would like to see(even if we are wrong) is fun.

Strong personalities is an accurate term. You guys need to recognize that in Swoosh. He doesn't even get to post a mild tease (i.e., "chuckling") anymore before some attack him for being pompous. The truth is, Swoosh knows who he is, and his posts grow more direct and blunt when you attack him.
Shave is not the only one here who can delete or ban. In the interest of transparency, once in a blue moon, I jump in to try to get us back on topic and avoid accelerating these controversies. That may not be the best approach on my part, but the last thing we need is to constantly erupt into eruption because we don't understand the true intention (or strong personality) behind somebody else's post. I apologize if my actions upset anyone: I just wanted to get back to the fun conjecture and wild ideas that make the SDCFans forum worth coming back to.
^ Thanks HB! Isn't it great that a theme park like Silver Dollar City is so well loved by us that we can get so passionate? :)
That's exactly my point - we all love SDC and enjoy speculating, discussing, etc. I just get so tired of the "I know something but I'm not going to tell you" game Swoosh plays. I was simply asking him to either share what he knows or just wait to post something concrete. We all know the value he can bring (and I also enjoy his personal website), but his most recent post of "if you don't like it I'll just take my ball and go home" further proves my point. I don't want to attack anyone or inflame the situation. I just want actual news about SDC when I come here. Thanks for listening and trying to consider my perspective the same way you've asked me to understand his.
I know we already have a thread for project 2026, so what else do we want/think we'll see in 2026? With the resort and a new attraction (possibly a thrill coaster) it'll be a big year for The City!
I don't think we will see much more than a ride and resort. Maybe a small gift shop for the ride.
