There are 25 days till opening day!
I am so ready to be back at the City working. It has been a long 3 month vacation and to say that I'm excited is an understatement! Who would have thought I'd be excited to go back there??? With any luck I'll also be going back knowing that I have a teaching job for the 09-10 school year.
SO... any of you out there PUMPED up for a new SDC season?
I cannot wait to get on the giant swing... seriously the first moment i have free and that thing is running... i'm off to hop on! I love that thing... I wish kodak would rig up some cameras for that ride... i told them how to do it.. lol they just need to follow my instructions.....
I'm excited for the new season, and also think that cameras on the Giant Swing is a good idea!
I hope there's some news come fall, at the latest, about RiverBlast.
I am so pumped as well. I have been looking forward to this season more than any I can remember. Mainly from this site keeping me up to date with the park during the off season, and from all my recent paintings, I just cannot stop thinking about SDC! Unfortunately my Spring break is the week before opening day (March 16-20 really isn't Spring-Break to me, more like Almost Spring Break!) But hopefully I'll make it down in March before Worldfest Begins.
We'll be there the minute the gates open, I'm trying to convince my fiance to camp out with me in front of the turnstiles.
My 2 kids and I will be there when the gates open. We all need to meet up and go on some rides together.
That would be great, I'm going to buy an SDC fans tee-shirt just for the opening day!
^Lol, if you want to, the store is still up here: http://www.zazzle.com/steveissuperman
None of the shirts really turn out all that great, from what I can tell. I've tried out the grunge 'tombstone' design with a dark brown American Apparel shirt, and it was OK. The design isn't quite as crisp as I had hoped, but the shirt is nice and soft, and doesn't fade too badly in the wash.
I plan to make some new designs soon and put the shop back on the site.
Back on topic though, I won't be around for opening day. I'm really trying to cut back on spending right now, plus I'm pretty sure my spring break week will be jammed with stuff already. I hope to get down there early in the summer.
Hope you guys have fun. Hey, if all of you guys snap a few shots here and there, we could make a big SDCFans opening week collage or something. It'd be good to have a few fresh photos on the site.

Is there some doubt there? Just curious by the way your worded it -- is this your first year or something?

NO! not those two kids! lol
I think I wanted to toss them over the gulf of doom.. they were so noisy.. lol hahaha
just kidding.. i'd have just left them somewhere.. i wouldn't push them over .. ahahhahahah
I think my 5 year old was trying to give the tour.. And remember we had s rabbit waiting for us at the cave desk.
The gulf of doom...that tickled me for some reason. What a great punishment/chacter builder, leave your kid in the cave...then kill the lights.
Mine have been down there so many times they would find their way out.
Well we won't be there on "Opening Day" -- I have Parent/Teacher Conferences that day -- we plan on being there on that Friday or Saturday... leaning more towards that Friday.
I was reading through general sdc talk on the winter work and the comment about the cave maybe giving tickets out to guests interested in taking tours is false. Tours have always been first come first serve and the only tour you can reserve is the lantern tour which also has an extra fee. We are all Looking forward to the new season everyone should take the lantern tour because we are opening a new trail that hasn't been open to the general public in 40 years.
TuckerB... I've been told by the Cave Lead that tickets are a NO! and that it's going to be a first come first served line again. And she did confirm that tickets were used as a system of giving out tour spots... i need to talk to her this weekend and see when that was...
For everyone else... 25 days has dwindled down to 14!
Orientation this weekend... I'm sure we'll hear some news about our future....
Cave training and re certification next weekend and then 4 days later opening day... it seems my vacation has come to an end!
;D
GREAT!!! That means then my weekend vacations can begin!
It keeps getting closer, I'm just glad that I'll be living in Branson by the time Bluegrass & BBQ rolls around I can't wait to see all the concerts. Woo hoo, 100th post!
5 DAYS LEFT..... It looks like it will be a nice day on Thursday. 64°F
Are there any plans for the SDCfans members to meet up on opening weekend? I have to work Thursday, but will be there Friday a.m. ;D
I have to work all weekend but will be there thurs and friday.
We're going to be there Saturday -- can hardly wait. It has been too long since we've been to an "outdoor" amusement park.
I wish I could be in on Thurs!
^Keep an eye on the weather if you do go
Yeah, looks like a 30% chance of rain. Either way, we'll be there!
Just checked the weather again, down to a 10% chance whoopie!
Roll call...who is here today...
Rube Dugans! great day to be in the park, Warmed up to about 60ish about 2-3pm. No crowds. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but managed to park in C, but they called it Lot 2or3. I didnt mind some of the shops not being open, I just enjoyed walking around the park BEFORE all the festivals start. It always looks bigger without the sheds and kiosks selling items.
Great day! Rode powderkeg, thunderation 3 times, didn't get to ride the train (you can imagine how disapointed I was) got some great fried pickles at the lumbercamp and saw what looked like some cleaned up scenes on the flooded mine and fire in the hole....once again great day..oh and I think the green trams are no more, had these weird truck-pulled white ones....sigh
Can we get confirmation on the trams? It would be a shame if they're gone, but I'd understand seeing as they could only run along the top of the hill.
I also was a bit saddened by the absence of the Green Trams. Yes they were a bit old and bouncy at times, and probably warrented a lot of upkeep, but I always remember those trams being.
Yes, no more green trams and we have new busses too. I understand that the green trams are iconic, but these ones run more efficient and meet ADA standards so much more then the old ones.
R.I.P. green trams. I will miss you. :'(

Darn. :(
I hope SotH still runs their tour trams.
THE END OF AN ERA!
I think we should all wear black arm bands for the season.
Do we have a picture of a green tram anywhere?
Never thought the day would come when the green trams were gone. :o
What about other changes around the park? Anyone stop by the new big skillet? What's FITH's new queue like?
Could they atleast paint them the same color?
please post pics of trams if anyone has any. thank you
The new bus was no joy, we were located at stop 2, and when we left, the bus drove all the way to stop 5, then turned around to go back in reverse. At EACH stop, everyone standing had to exit to allow others off, before we could continue on. The green trams and their easy on/off will be missed!
^Yes, we noticed how quickly loaded and unloaded the white trams were, and how much more time it took to load the stinkin' buses.
